You can also see at the end the one Pigeon parent. Feeding the chick it's "crop milk". All birds in the Columbidae do this. It's a regurgitation of seeds and other things the parent has consumed. Formed into a liquid substance for the chicks to eat. From Rock Pigeons you see in the city. To Mourning and Collared Doves you see in your backyard.

While the pigeons were busy fighting among themselves, that kestrel was trying to take over. it wasn't just there for a snack - at one point you can see it come in with something already in its mouth, and begin calling. It's trying to get it's mate to check out a nest site and is luring her in with food. Pidgeons may end up losing that nest.

Pigeons can be aggressive when they want to be. However, they lack really any form of protection besides a few simple things. Firstly being the "wing slap" defense which mostly all of them possess in the Columbidae family. If a predator like this falcon which Kestrels are attack one of them or gets to close. They will "wing slap" it which can hurt as Pigeons and Doves do have very powerful wings. But it's truly not enough to thwart a raptor from attacking. Second defense if actually attacked is to leave a Bird of Prey with a bunch of down feathers. I've seen on a bunch of occasions while out in the field observing. Where these birds were attacked and the Falcon or other Bird of Prey like an Accipiter think Sharp Shinned or Coopers Hawk. Thought they had there quarry and was left with a bunch of down feathers only for it's victim to escape. Besides those two things they really have no sharp beak or claws like a Crow or Raven has to defend themselves. It's typically why they are the easiest birds for raptors to catch and kill. Although i will say in my 40yrs of being in the avian field having dealt "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Bird of Prey. Not many birds besides raptors can make their speed in flight. Some Pigeons and Doves can reach speeds of 80mph while in full flight. Which is why they were used as carrier's of messages during the war and long before that. Little tubes with written words on paper strapped to their feet. Think DHL, UPS, FedEX in ancient times before planes folks.

My interpretation of what happened is limited to two possibilities: The first possibility: that one of the parents blames the other because he did not take care carefully and did not watch the way well, while returning to the nest, and he had to mislead the falcon and not guide it to the location of the nest, and therefore one of the spouses blames the other and says to him, “Just as you guided the falcon to the location of the nest.” He took it out and defended the nest and the young. The second possibility: The couple used strategic deception and started quarreling with each other, with the aim of making the falcon believe that they were a strong couple and good at quarreling, so he should stay away from them and look for other prey.

The female tried to stop the fighting male trying to block, peck at and aggressively prevent the males' attacks. In disagreement, he kept trying to size up the kestrel. This led to agitation in the female and she aggressively made her point. In the first spat the couple trampled one of the hatchling, killing it and then finally, the male flees. The seccond time the kestrel shows up, the male once again tries to size up the kestrel and is less tolerant of the Females' interference. The male then aggressively attacks the Female in anger insisting on action insted of waiting to be attacked. After that it appears the male leaves to fight the kestrel. In the end the male comes back and urges the female to leave and allow him to take over guarding the remaining hatchling. The male then kills the remaining hatchling, it seems that he had no intrst in continuing his partnership with the female and leaves the nest. The female returns to see her chick is dead, and leaves the nest seeing the absent male was a clear sign that this partnership was at an end. Finally, the bandit kestrel makes off with it's meal- one of the dead chicks.

Damn, that one Pigeon trying to push the other one into the Kestral and then attacking it when it flees to safety. Literally trying to sacrifice its partner to the Kestral. Pigeons are such a**h***s.

THere are a lot of complicated suggestions for that, but I suppose the simplest you can find is the right one.
SOme say she is attacking him to make him fight, but that is clearly not the order things happen in.
My guess is that they just go into fight mode and start attacking left and right.

Pigeons are not known for their brains. Perhaps when they use this nest box, decrease the size of the entrance so bigger birds dont get in to destroy everything.

Pigeons are actually very intelligent animals, but in conflicts like this stress can get the better of them and cause harm to the children. many birds will accidentally trample their eggs or chicks in situations like this.
