- Today, I'm playing NMPZ ranked duels for the first time. This is an update that we have been waiting on for years, and I'm super excited to give it my first go, and get on the road to #1 in the world. Enjoy!

NMPZ duels are a huge milestone for Geoguessr. It really makes the game more appealing for pros
It would be cool if there was also a way to see previously played matches, since they're all bound to be of such high quality.
Agree, now they just need to split the ranking leaderboard. Eg. If you have never done nmpz before, but your rating is 1200. Then you will get matched with people who will crash your overall rating.

@@wileym I don’t think that’s “exactly” what I said - a lot of people who have lost ELO because of not playing duels due to geoguessr’s system (including zi8gzag) so people who are now starting to play duels are gonna have lower ELO than they deserve to have

NMPZ goat. Oscar's popularity is growing exponentially. I see him on the news and I played against someone who's name was "zigzags fanboy" yesterday.
I absolutely think this is main channel worthy. Sure, it's not as produced as the other stuff, but duels are a great way to add stakes to games. Like if you're grinding for records, you just reset on a bad guess.

Perhaps the shaking of the screen when a guess is made is to better notify the other player that a guess has been made, in addition to the red border on the screen along with the clock, which many times players don't notice until it's too late.

My pc cant handle the graphics, every time the screen shakes it blacks out for like 5-10 sec so i legit cant play

I think you should show the leaderboard after each session so the progression is more visible. I get it, it doesn't matter much after the hiatus but i think it would just be a cool little extra to see how you raise up the ranks quickly at the start and where you platau for a bit etc.
That was a a great watch and love how you always describe your reasoning befoe you put down your marker. I have tried some solo NPMZ for fun and I think I am improving albeit very slowly. Thanks for the great content Oscar.

Great video as always Zig. I love the new Ranked No Moving and have been wanting it for a while. However I will say, the devs bungled the rollout in a couple of key ways: first, why get rid of BR Countries Ranked? Second, the screen shake is awful and needs to be removed ASAP. Credit where due for the new game modes, but I hope the devs see the feedback from the community and make those changes soon too.

I learned the other day that the S is silent in Laos. I was blown away.
I thought it's "Laus" for the country and "Lau" for the language. If you go back to my early videos I used to say Lau but yeah I think that might not be right.
just googled, in english the s is pronounced but the country was a colony of france for a long time so since the french wouldnt pronounce the s thats also around in some languages.

Unpopular opinion but I think that screen shake is a good thing, makes sure you don’t miss a guess and lets you focus on the round and not worry about the clock

Week highlights here imo, and mixed content otherwise. If the videos were much longer or streams I would struggle to watch them. I use them as a stress relief before bed daily so please keep doing what you're doing :)

Oh no, I have this feeling that the leaderboards are gonna be filled with cheaters. I mean you won't be able to tell if they're cheating based on the movement anymore. So glad that they finally added it though!

I think it's probably best in terms of workload if you just upload the grind un-edited on your second channel, while uploading highlights on the main channel when you have the free time. and then once you hit rank one (which you will) upload that video on the main channel for sure
I'd also like to see the multipliers start after 2 or 3 rounds - not 4.

At low ranks you can only play move. No moving & NMPZ arent unlocked for me yet
Are they going to implement separate ELO system for each duel mode? Otherwise, each player will experience a big gap of difficulty level between each mode. A 750 elo player (moving), when playing not moving mode, might face against an opponent of similar elo, but as you know, "not moving" is much harder, and there's obviously less chance for the player to win, throwing the player down to a lower elo. When they're back to "moving" mode, their elo will rise to their usual rating. I don't know how this is going to work out well in the long run. Even for masters and above, playing NMPZ is going to feel burdensome, so it is natural to predict that they will play MUCH less NMPZ's compared to moving. If you don't care about ELO, no worries.
Man I swear I had lost almost 100 points and playing NMPZ made me gain them back

I think second channel and highlights on main channel around once a week is a good idea.
You should play NMPZ or NM duels on this channel and try to climb the leaderboards to the highest rank possible.

My internet is a bit slow for Moving (and I tend to panic) and NMPZ is just beyond my skill level, but I absolutely love NM, so this really is the best update ever!
