I was most impressed by that last Tasmania guess. If logging roads were mapped on geogussr that would be really difficult, maybe even borderline impossible, to get since that is what it looks like on every logging road with new-growth trees.
As a Norwegian, it was so obvious to me that the Canada one was not in Scandinavia at all, because of the dirt road. It simply doesn't look Scandinavian. I don't know why. Forest roads like these are either made with asphalt, gravel, or just mud...
Idea for the next one: You should give 7 points if they guess the country directly and give 3 points if they guess a country next to the right one. Also love this content
That last Tasmania guess looks almost exactly like some of the lease roads in Alberta that I drove on while I was working in the oil fields, that is wild. I really liked this video
Question #3… the dirt road shows that it is right side drive… but the biggest telling clue (for me) was the amount of Birch Trees. Birch trees are very very prominent in Provinces from Ontario all the way to British Columbia. In fact the Birch tree is the official tree of the province Saskatchewan.
In South Africa if you look beyond you see dry hills that are very common in bloem area but I would consider mx as well. Ah and last one is gettable if you know road as zigzag blinky and rc did. Last round oscar got i was convinced it was za

Im still shocked lmfao) R4: Peru (for some reason this was just really obvious for me called in like 5 seconds. Maybe something to do with the really high altitude vegetation?) R5: South Korea (honestly had no idea at all. Spent like 4 minutes staring at the screen. Was tempted by South Africa but since we already had that i doubted it. In the end narrow road and weird ditch just made me pick an asian country and settled on south korea) Overall 1/5 imo Im fairly happy with that. Was not expecting to get any tbh 😅
I'm Canadian, I think I legit never guess Europe on r3, it feels so so so Canadian to me. The shitty road, the ditches, those brown shrubs sticking up on the left... I dont know why but I feel like there is almost never rural Ontario/Quebec rounds on geo but thats exactly what rural Ontario looks like. We only get rural rounds on other provinces or far north in Ontario
Lol we're like the same but also the opposite of each other. I said the same for rounds 1 & 2, then called Canada the first second it was on screen, but must've said every other country near Peru that wasn't Peru for round 4. And as with you I could've looked at round 5 for a decade and not got it.
totally agree with you that the peru round just gave total peru vibes instantly lol. but also my knowledge is nowhere near these guys' so if i knew more about other countries its possible i wouldnt feel that way. i also got the canada one cause im from canada and as someone else in this thread said it just feels insanely canadian lol.
I have an insane strategy of "If it looks like Finland but something is off, then it's probably Canada" and it doesn't work like ever but somehow here it did
I am proud, I would have gotten the third one, simply because of the thickness of the trees and the forest. I have seen that kind of forest a lot in coverage of that country. On the 4th one I would have gone Ecuador purely by hunch.
Somehow guessed Zimbabwe (a feeling, I know so little about geography) for the first and I got Canada right (I grew up next to a forest just like that). Felt so hyped!
I think there may be parts of the Geoguessr meta that hurt more than they help with certain locations. I guessed South Africa for number 1 because my rule is if it looks like the American southwest but it doesn't look American or South American enough, it's South Africa, and it's a surprisingly reliable rule if you have no other helpful info. I also guessed Canada just based on intuition rather than relying on knowledge of the meta, because it just...idk, looks like Canada. It's interesting seeing how the meta isn't everything.
3rd one screamed Québec right away. Our national tree is the yellow birch, so when you see a lot of white trees intermingled with coniferous trees, you might just be there. Lots of hills. Always a ditch on the side of the road since it's very humid and we have a lot of freshwater bodies around. Might not be Québec, but sure as hell is around that area.
Would be kinda fun to have a noob contestant in these super hard custom super hard games as well as the pros, just as a reference. Like a random viewer or so

Dang, been to 4/5 of these countries and could never pinpoint the landscape like they do! I was just hiking in Panama last month and that soft red dirt and the tropical shrubs definitely reminded me of that (like Boquete, El Valle area) but I would've never have guessed! Could only guess Canada but that's my home country, and those gravel roads and birch trees remind me of rural Alberta.
I didn't see a whole lot of plant analysis, or animal tracking signs, especially in the first picture with the High Ungullate feeding evidence on the trees. Can you magnify and look for tracks and insects? The mountains seem like a good place to start if they're ever in the pictures.
The snow and trees in #3 are intimately familiar to me. I'm a very casual geoguesser but if that wasn't Canada I was going to retire from the game completely.
South African here, something about the weather mixed with the tree bark and leaves gave me a familiar vibe for the first guess. Dirt roads are common especially in more rural areas. Fencing is somewhat similar to what is on our walls by the roads. Perhaps in the Free State or Mpumalanga provinces is the vibe I feel.
