  • Carp fishing a big reservoir has been my hardest carp fishing challenge yet. In this video I spend an entire season fishing for carp at a huge 800 acre Maryland reservoir. I was able to catch good numbers of fish and even some big ones. I learned a lot about carp this season and I can not wait to carp fish again in the spring.

Once again you’ve hit it out of the park with the editing. The shot of the big carp swimming away is epic. Takes me about 2 days to edit my videos, so I can’t imagine the time and effort you out into yours. Bravo

I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you! And yeah the editing process is long! This one took about a week to edit. For this specific video the filming process took longer. It was filmed in about 3 months. I’ll make sure to check out some of your videos. Tight lines!

Your video production is like 100,000+ subscriber quality bro! Also that small carp was definitely a crucian carp hybrid.

Awesome video and venue. Looks like the swims in the UK👍
Quick question; what kind of landing net were you using? I have a three piece 42’ Sonik net - it works well enough, but it can be difficult to net the fish when I'm reaching out because the net-pole begins to bend a lot. Yours didn't look as flexible as the one I've been using.
On a side note, I've also been thinking about starting a campaign of my own. Not sure where in NJ though (I live near Edison NJ). I’ve been to Orange Reservoir but it's an hour away so prebaiting is gonna be tough!
Thanks in advance for the net info and loved the film quality of this video👍
    Best of luck,
    Joe

Thanks for the support👍🏽 the net I was using is the octagon handle big game landing net by Ranger. I think it’s model 9855. I have the 8ft handle. I believe they also do a 12ft but I suspect the 12ft get very heavy when fully extended. It is very well built and like you said it doesn’t bend though I am not in love with the netting. It’s a nylon netting and I find that if carp is too heavy and you lift the fish with the net. It can damage the fishes tail. I think you can change out the netting tho if you find netting with the same dimensions.
I have never fished in NJ but carp are everywhere in the states so I’m sure you can find some. Good luck👍🏽

you should try feed corn for chumming and for hook bait works well.and by the way what bite alarms do you have

    • @Jonalexxx

Yeah I will definitely do feed corn for chumming next season, cuz sweet corn gets expensive quick! And o use SABER S4 bite alarms, they’re on the cheaper end for bite alarms, but work well! I got them from bigcarptackle.com
      Thanks for the tip!

You were very dedicated to the mission!
I fully intended to try for carp this past summer but then I got caught up exploring some nice smallmouth locations.
What do you do while you're waiting hours for the next bite?

You should try it this spring! Usually I would either read or just film b-roll for the video. I’m thinking about trying for smallmouth this winter. I know it’ll be really hard, but worth a try.
