I love Bill Burr!!!! My dad passed away unexpectedly back in February and was only 73 yrs old. He was only able to enjoy 6 yrs of retirement after working his a** off for over 50 yrs. I remember shortly before he passed, he had e-mailed me a list of ALL Bill Burr's stand up shows and told me I HAD to watch them. Before Bill Burr came along, he wasn't really watching a lot of Stand Up...and if he did....it was mostly just Dave Chappelle and that was about it. So every time I get the chance to sit down and watch Bill Burr....I have a moment of silence for my amazing dad and then I do what he'd want me to do which is laugh my a** off at one of the funniest dudes alive today. RIP Daddy

I wouldn't say he is under-rated so much as he is just more incognito. He does his stand up and a lot of other things but never wanted to really jump into the mainstream. He explains it many times as he talks about doing standup comedy in strip malls. He also said he doesn't want to end up like a target for "professionally" outraged people that might get upset at something he says. Although, Bill would just tell them to go fuck themselves for sure, which is why we all love him so.
I feel like he’s really famous. But I personally think he’s funnier than Louis CK - just by a hair - but he isn’t regarded as a comedy genius like Louis CK. In my view, Louis CK and Bill Burr are head and shoulders above the nearest competition.
