- These DIY natural hand soaps are the perfect way to save money while creating a fully natural product for cleansing the largest organ of the human body - our skin. We spent only £20 to make a year’s supply!
INGREDIENTS 🫧
Chocolate & Coffee🍫☕️
- 500g soap base
- 1/2 tsp coffee powder
- 1/2 tsp chocolate powder
- 2 tbsp E oil
- Mix the chocolate and coffee powder with the oil before adding to the melted soap
Optional: 10 drops of Vanilla essential oil
Calendula & Lemon 🍋🌼
- 500g soap base
- 2 tbsp grated shea butter
- 1 tbsp dry calendula petals
- 20 drops of lemon essential oil or calendula oil
Lavender & Oats 🌾🪻
- 500g soap base
- 2 tbsp oats
- 20 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 tbsp dry lavender flowers
Orange & Rosemary 🍊🌿
- 500g soap base
- 1/2 tbsp finely chopped dry rosemary
- 10 drops of Orange essential oil
- 10 drops of rosemary essential oil
Optional: dry orange zest
Instructions: 🥣🫧
- Melt your soap base in a double boiler.
- If using shea butter, ensure it's grated, not chopped, as it takes longer to melt than the soap base.
- If using powder, first mix it thoroughly with an oil to eliminate clumps, then add it to the melted soap.
- Once melted, turn off the heat, then add your oils and the remaining ingredients.
- Note: Any extra ingredient you add or change can make the mixture harder, less oily, or solidify faster.
- Mix well and pour into the silicone mold.
- Let it solidify, then store in an airtight container.

@@dfghjk230it is. You have to work with lye, which is a rather dangerous chemical.
@@dfghjk230 nah not really, in Germany we do it in chemistry class. You basically just cook a Sodium hydroxide (a strong base when in solution, but unless you get it on your skin for long periods of time or in your eyes it's harmless) with oil, a bit of ethanol and water. Water can be used to cool it down, in case you let the mixture cook with a too high temperature (too high is boiling intensely. Though don't use too much water). To know how much Sodium Hydroxid is needed, you have to look up the saponification value for the specific oil you want to use. Concerning the cooking duration, look up how its supposed to look and eyeball it.

@@EuropeanDreamzI’ve been making soap for 11 years. He is not making soap, he’s using a type of soap called “Melt & Pour” soap. It’s a soap base, where you melt it and add fragrances or other stuff. He’s not chemically altering fats and oils to make soap.

It's called LYE, not LIE. It is very caustic and all your equipment must NEVER EVER come into contact with food. Ends up becomming 'soap specific', which is okay if your planning on making a lot of soap :)

Its mostly glycerin which comes from fats out of plants and/or animals.

I made soap for the very first time today and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. They don’t look as perfect as those but the quality is equal if not better than expensive soap bars. I made 4 bars of oatmeal and honey. I added vitamin E oil and Jasmine essential oil. I also made 4 bars cocoa butter, shea butter and lanolin with jasmine and bergamot essential oils. I only made a small batch in case that it didn’t come out good but they were just right! From now on I will be making my own soap. ❤
Did you know that you can make your own soap by buying soap? Then, after spending hours cutting, melting, pouring, cleaning and waiting, you can have your own version with some herbs thrown in that will clog your drain.
Not to mention the money your threw away for the molds and ruined pots.

you can make soap from scratch, and I recommend learning how
though you absolutely must have some chemicals available, specifically sodium hydroxide for bar soap, and potassium hydroxide for liquid soap
you can make natural glycerin based soap HOWEVER, a VERY important note with glycerin soap is that its great for removing dirt, but doesnt come even remotely close to the level of germ reduction as soap made with sodium hydroxide
aka, I wouldnt use glycerin soap after touching raw chicken, but I would if I was just diggin in the dirt.
