Really? Looks pretty generic to me, and the Flanker looks like a particularly simple child tried to draw a Hornet.
It has nice flowing lines for sure but that weird spike between the engines really kills it for me. I much prefer the looks of the MiG-29 for that reason.
Still better looking that the bulky American heavy fighters (F-15 and F-14) though, in my opinion.
They are pretty aggressive looking

Mirage vs F-16 would be a good video they’re both considered small and nible fighters so it’ll be pretty interesting to see
They are also completely opposite: the Mirage is an excellent turn fighter while the Viper is a killing rate machine. That would make an interesting fight

@@hammerofdavey mirage wont follow, it will keep its alt and maintain a perpendicular position, when the f16 dives it can divee too, making the energy difference less. if the f16 follows it loses energy and starts playing the mirages fight, if the f16 pulls out and climbs the mirage then has the energy state to go for a snapshot or rear aspect shot. equal fight really if the f16 does that(excuse shit grammar im tired as fuck)

Hook maneuver. Inverted cobras while in the vertical to increase AoA. Very very useful move. You don't lose too much energy because your nose will be pointed down

A cobra could save you in a real dog fight if you're lucky, but you lose so much speed that you can't really love fast and it's easy to lose control.

I know that the paddle switch is technically possible, and that a dogfight with a Flanker would definetly be a life-or-death moment, but in the first merge?
I doubt that any Hornet pilot would dare that, but I'm not a Hornet pilot, so that is of course only my opinion.
Combine that with the fact that Hornets wings don't fall off under load in DCS but the Flankers wings do, and G-effects are turned off; I'd say the fight is already pretty favored to the Hornet.
Not trying to call you out or gatekeep or anything, obviously one can play DCS however they wish. I just think that it's a point worth mentioning.
It could be pretty realistic. In an interview for the TV show Dogfights (season 2 episode 12), Col Larry Pitts is said to have done a split-S from 10k feet, pulling 12G's in an F15C during the first merge with an Iraqi MiG-25. He commented that at the time he had so much adrenaline in him that it didn't even faze him. Not sure if the hornet can take it but apparently an Eagle is up to it. Definitely hard on the airframe though.
'Music' Muzynski who was one of the pilots in the F-14 vs MIG-23 at the Gulf of Sidra said he pulled a 10.2g in the F-14A Tomcat while rolling/turning away from the Flogger in the "Tomcat Fury" book. He said the plane flew fine all the way back to the boat and the maintenance crew gave him a pass because he killed a MIG. Again, that was the mechanical bull called F-14 and not a Hornet.

@@Herb___ Never heard a pilot in real life ever say they pulled more than 6.5 - 7g in the Hornet. C W Lemoine who flew both F-16 and F-18s said, The F-16 at 9G had much higher limits. It bled energy so quickly at sudden switch in nose position that it made no sense to be left in a very poor energy state. Also, the airframe simply was not designed to withstand 10+ G. That is why it had a limiter.

I know you said the Cibra isn't as great as it's implied to be, but what's your take on the Kulbit and J-turns? The latter in particular is said to be impossible without thrust vectoring, and I've seen F 22 Raptors pull it off in video clips, so Im scratching my head at the thought 😉
Yup... Cobra is really ineffective cause it just created for the air show to impress the audience.
Its pretty usefull in a fox 2 fight. It will let you throw your nose, faster than your enemy, arround and the R-73 will do the rest.

You probably know it, but you said it wrong: 1 circle fight isn't a "nose position fight," it's a radius fight, whereas 2 circle is a rate fight (rate means the same as nose position - how fast can you crank your nose around and shoot the enemy).
so i spoke to a real pilot friend of mine to confirm and he says that the 1 circle fight is indeed a nose position fight.
i also think ur confusing the concept of rate vs nose position those deff are not the same thing.
How well the aircraft can turn (turn rate and radius) is a function of TAS and available G, Turn rate is defined in terms of the number of degrees per second (deg/sec) of heading change on a given turn circle. All else being equal, the aircraft with the higher turn rate travels around the circle quicker and either generates or solves BFM problems better than the aircraft with the slower turn rate. Radius is one-half the size of an aircraft's TC. All else being equal, the aircraft with the smaller turn radius is capable of creating/solving problems in range, closure, and angles better than the aircraft with the larger turn radius. Offensively, a smaller turn radius permits a turn inside the defender’s TC to achieve a
weapons solution while maintaining an offensive advantage. Defensively, a smaller turn radius will deny a weapons solution and force the offender to fly outside the turn circle.

Not sure why he tried to one circle in round one, that’s exactly what happened with Gonky vs the Su-30MKK, only there he got a planform high aspect shot. Flanker should be doing what you did vs the Hornet in the Tomcat, getting him low and slow and staying above his nose. In round 2 he did exactly what a Flanker should do vs a nose position opponent, though it was risky when he was below you because he gave away opportunities to eat high aspect shots from the Hornet.

Bell might be useful while you’re high and enemy is below you. But I think it’s only possible with trust vectored engines.

Hello everyone, any suggestion for the 1st aircraft? I want to play some 1v1 dogfight games like these videos. But I have no idea which aircraft should I buy 1st(expencive game so i will only buy 1 this time). I have a vr headset, and an old cheap joystick(seems every stick is out of stock in Canada right now.).
In that first kill you straight up killed the pilot in you’re fist few hits of the aircraft
This actually happened back in 2012 on an exercise called Pitch Black, an Su-27 pilot from the Indonesian AF callsign "Ajax" (i know him personally from work) to an F-18 of the Australian AF, and it actually worked.
Partly because the F-18 pilot was shocked and was in the middle of calling off the fight because Ajax broke the training bubble of 500 meters. He then got an earfull from the CO and pats on the back from other pilots in the gun cam debrief.

2 v 1 circle makes sense to me as trying to turn the airplane as to shot the tail v nose respectively.
That’s why in reality here in US Russian pilots win twice over the USAF pilots in training fights here in NC. STIMULATOR IS GOOD for training but it’doesn’ mean that this is the only way it will be.
Great dogfights; and yeah, imo one shouldn't use a maneuver for airshows in a real dogfight in the same way that one shouldn't use thai-chi exhibition moves in a real street fight. You may catch the guy by surprise one time, but... you gonna be beaten up most likely; and in general, isn't a good thing to rely on the luck in a street fight instead on practice and what actualy work.
I totally understand why you taking a break from the F14 but I'm still voting for a Tomcat vs Viper fight!!

What is "cobra"? I did watch the vid in its entirety but why is it used other then from what I was able to figure out...as a means of "cutting that corner", as seen in the replay. Am I even close in this understanding?
I have an old home build running a strix gtx 2Gb OC 970, with 16Gb memory...however I'm running a faster but still none the less i3 processor with older memory aka I'm bummed I can't play this. I'm assuming I cannot play multiplayer & am unable to just buy a plane on the "hope" that'll work. I do have DCS via steam along with two flight sticks but have not bought any of the planes due to my belief that my pc just won't handle the game. So...what is a "cobra"? Also, am I unfounded in my thought that my pc just won't run this game actively playing another? I love flight sims, but am stuck with the whole "World of Warplanes". Far from the type of engagements I'd like to play aka modern flight simulation.

A cobra is a type if maneuver where the plane super stalls itself by pulling straight up losing a lot of speed but making the enemy overshoot
