What triggers me about SM3DW was Rosalina in general.
1. Why the hell was she added in the first place? I can understand Mario Kart but the platformers outside of Mario Galaxy have no need for her!
2. SHE'S GODDAMN SLOWER THAN PEACH. WHY.
3. How can she jump higher than Luigi?
4. There's no cutscene when you unlock her. You just finish a level that has her at the end, and you can play as her. Talk about wasted potential.

Angel Aguilar Rosalina's main defining trait is her spin attack. Without her spin attack, she runs slow, jumps okay, and controls bad compared to the rest of the characters. The rest of the characters keep their defining traits when they have powerups.

(Pretty big comment, guess these are what "triggers" me about 3D World. lol)
Regarding Mario's voice, Charles has been doing the voice for over 20 years, so it would've been better to compare 3D World Mario with a more recent game like the Galaxy or Smash Bros Brawl.
Comparing with Mario 64 gets the excuse of "he's not as young as he used to be," just a little constructive criticism. ;)
Anyways, they completely blew it when it came to the story. We have the same character roster (+ Rosalina) as Super Mario Bros 2/USA, Peach is not in danger this time, it would've been the perfect time to bring back Wart.
Everyone expects Bowser to be the final boss, so bring in an old villain or create a new character to have him team up with or....wait a minute. "We've got the Mario & Luigi series for that," I mean that's Nintendo's reasoning for Paper Mario not having a complex storyline anymore, wouldn't be surprised if that would be the reason for not having Bowser team up with anyone new in the Super Mario series. :/
I was so hyped for this game because I was like "Peach isn't kidnapped, they could actually do something different by having Bowser do something else or have a different villain as the final boss!" and then we got Meowser.
He has a creative design, but why?
Why is it that Mario and the gang get Cat Suits but all the enemies & Bowser turn into Cat-Hybrids?
I get that the team can then be creative with the designs, but Bowser clearly uses the same kind of Powerup as us, so it doesn't make sense. I guess if they had Bowser use a special version then people would be expecting to use at some point. :P
Also, anyone else getting tired of these "stay alive until the end" final battles? It was cool in NSMBW because Bowser filled a third of the screen and we had to run away from him which hadn't been done before. NSMB2 had it be a vertical journey instead of a horizontal one, but 3D Land and World just have Bowser jumping around and us running to a switch. Also you can make NSMBW's go by faster as the camera moves forward with you, but the others are completely autoscrollers.
While you were supposed to make Bowser crush the floor beneath him in SMB3, you could still damage him with fireballs, and in Yoshi's Island you throw eggs at him while he's giant.
3D Land's Normal Bowser Battles was fine, a 3D remake of the original way to beat Bowser, but the final boss could've been something else.
3D World's Final Battle was such a disappointment at the end because you just hit a POW Block a few times and all the Meowsers die. You can make it more challenging by just standing there so you have to dodge their fireballs, but it's still not an actual battle.
NSMBU had a really fun final battle by having us jumping into Clown Cars and attacking Giant Bowser. We actually damaged him instead of just staying alive until we got to a switch. 3D World was on the right track by having us fight Bowser & his pimped-out car. It was something new and creative, and the final boss tricks you into thinking you'll battle Bowser with cat powers, but instead you just got scale a building.
He even uses the Double Cherry, there was so much potential for an epic battle!!!

all jokes aside, this is one of the more "nostalgic" mario games for me. since im pretty young, and usually played mario games when i was like 4 or 5, ive forgotten them. so when i come back to them, its just a burst of nostalgia!
I think this is my favorite Mario game because of the level design and the characters with different stats and the cool power-ups

2:50 You could do a claw dive with the Cat suit, but not a regular dive with all the other forms. In the Nintendo Switch port, you would do a standard dive that separates from the claw dive and functions similar to the dive in Super Mario Odyssey.
