    This video inspired us to cook up a massive brekkie this morning - pancakes, plantains, bacon, fried eggs, also pineapple and strawberries. Soooo good. We called it a Queensland breakfast as the plantains and pineapples are from the farm across the street. Hubs thinks we should do this every day đŸ€Ș

      Thanks for watching Thomas. I have a handful of other breakfast recipes on the channel... I should organize them into a playlist now that there are enough of them. I like cooking them outside on the grill even at home, because with sausage and especially with bacon, it can get messy and while pleasant during breakfast, the smell lingers all day. Not a problem when cooking outside!

    You gave me the knowledge and courage to try out chicken thighs using a sear and indirect heat cook, with a foil pouch of wood chips. Never tried either before, and the results were amazing. My kid actually ate all of her food without complaining, and that says a lot. Thanks for showing me how to set up for an indirect cook and make those foil pouches. I usually use my weber kettle for indirect.

      Interesting - I think with a full plate I could have done everything at once instead of in two separate steps. The breakfast was indeed delicious, but takes a while having to reset it. A full plate would have been great.

      I actually like the variety of the baked beans, tomatoes, and mushrooms, so in general I like the English one more. But can't go wrong either way. Yes, our bacon is different than what you find in most places around the world. I will say I do prefer US bacon.

    I have the original Weber Griddle which runs the full length of the grill but does not cover fully from front to back. It sits on top of the regular grates. I also have the newer "half" griddle, but need to order the newer grates as I have the one piece grate.

  • @task82
    @task82 Pƙed 2 lety

    Looks delicious Jerry!! I think I've prefer the English for breakfast because it looks like less sugar and more veg and fiber. But I think I'd make an exception and have the US breakfast for a treat đŸœđŸ˜Š

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Truth be told I like the greater variety of flavors (and likely more nutrition) in the English breakfast. Don't get me wrong this American one is quite good too... but it sort of explains the USA's obesity problem lol ;-)

    Great video's, I love them. One question: what is the size/diameter of the cast iron pan you use on the Q? Is it the 20cm diameter from Lodge?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! The cast iron makes a frequent appearance. This is the 10-inch skillet (25cm). As you can see it fits the Q2000 series, but in other videos it does also fit inside the smaller Q1000 and 1200.

  • @timlimbrick3721

      I just found out from you and other commenters that there seems to be an updated Weber Q model now out in Australia (does not seem to be available anywhere else yet). The dimensions indeed do seem to have changed. Very interested to see or hear more!

    Good job. Does the weber q have an oil drain Pan? Or where does the grease go?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Pƙed rokem

      Yes, there is a drip pan beneath the grill. Any grease, oil, and debris fall through the grates and funnel into a central opening where it's all caught by a foil tray that can be easily discarded and replaced.

    Did you add a thermometer to the grill after or did it come with it. I have recently purchased the Q2000 and it doesn’t have one. Love your videos here in Ireland. Chicago is a great city I must get back to soon.

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Pƙed rokem +1

      Mine didn’t come with a thermometer
 it was added a few years after purchase. Truth be told I didn’t realize there was a Q2200 at the time
 had I known better I would have gotten it built in since the price difference is pretty small.

    Hey, I was wondering if you could do a video on the best method to clean the flatplate and grill? I've been using steel wool so far, but it seems to be damaging the flatplate. Thanks!

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Good idea for a video! Steel wool is effective BUT it does have a tendency to etch or can even take off any enamel coating on the grates or griddle. Usually I will just dunk the flatplate in a bucket of warm soapy water or sometimes the sink at home (since it fits) then give it a good scrub with a sponge. It doesn't do a perfect cleaning job, but good enough. Then you can put it back on the grill, set to high for about 15 min to dry it off as well as burn off anything still stuck.

      Super filling and a great way to start your day. Coming off the grill the bacon has a lot of grease still on it so it looks floppier than it really is. But yes there is no harm in going another min or two if you want it really crispy.
