- I tried to give the new walksnail system a flight today but the video was freezing up only a few hundred feet away causing my quad to crash, Im not sure what im doing wrong i have the vtx and goggles on the newest firmware, im running 50mbs 1080 1200mw just like i ran on crickets quad but for some reason im having alot of issues, walksnail in this state is literally unflyable. I want caddx and hdzero to do well so i will be waiting for further updates and giving walksnail another chance.

Totally agree with Botgrinder, analogue is more then enough to fly and enjoy flying without compromises for now.
I absolutely LOVE my v1 DJI goggles. Never had an issue. But I also don’t do quick twitchy freestyle. It’s perfect for cinematic runs. Plus my $13 URUAV adapter has the same latency as an analog pair of goggles and you get the best of both worlds at half the cost.
never have any of those weird issues with my dji goggles and my Vista but this system is still very new so we will have to see how it turns out. All I know is analog makes its feel less real with all the static no matter what you do and I've never been able to see or feel any extra latency between the two
@@WickedWaysfpv7087 You didn't get my point, I'm not taking about advantages or disadvantages of digital, I am just stating that for some people analogue is more then enough. I have flown DJI v1, great image, but for me it is not that important.

There's a cool hack for when you're tired of flying the same place. I tried it a couple years ago and it's a trip! Most fpv cameras have a menu system where you can reverse (mirror) the image. Reverse the camera then in your controller, reverse roll and yaw so your quad flies left when you move sticks right. It will fly like normal under the goggles but the area your flying in is also reversed. Give it a try!

Short n not so sweet, that’s why I love your vids, Bot. Took me frkn years to learn how to keep ma analog sht in the air. Think I stay awhile. And I had thought about the walksnail’s. I think not! Lol
I have the same problems with Walksnail, especially on grass with low flights.
The streaks come as soon as the reception gets worse. And the latency increases to over 100ms, unflyable.
Last time I flew Walksnail in a parking lot, everything was fine there. It's best to wait another 1 year until the firmware gets better.

Botgrinder, Actually very informational video! Totally 💯 agree that some of these manufacturers should not be releasing these products until they’re truly ready to fly. Seems like to many companies pushing out products and users are paying the price for sub par products.

This is exactly what I always hated about the DJI system the frames freezing. I don't like a feeling of not being in control. Analog will never do that no matter what static you have you are always in control in the here and now!
To me, latency is just about everything. And like you said... its so easy to get analog stuff! almost can build a whole cheap analog quad for the price of some of those HD VTX camera sets.
Currently here (Thailand) the VTX is 7500b. I just built 2 identical quads total cost 3500b each lol
Walksnail system definitely has potential but needs to bake a little bit longer. Excellent rant flight, a lot of truth to what you say. I fly analog and dji hd. Very happy with my setups. I personally am looking forward to seeing the release of HD zero goggles. Happy flying Botgrinder. 🖕💖😎

Went the following week n someone welded a huge bar on the inside of the door now. only way in n up to the roof is thru the 2nd floor window lol.. I purchased the fatsharks with the walksnail system n I was able to fly everywhere around that school but nothing beats good ol analog 🤙🏽

Seems quality control is all over the place on this system. Only explanation i can think of to why you and madstech have terrible image quality, and bardwell and cricket have good video.

I’ve seen this same behavior with DJI when the antenna was damaged. Did you check your antenna connection? Try another antenna?

How does analog perform on stock antennas? You have a patch and circular aftermarket for your analog, why would you not use the same setup?

Seems like a broken antenna (or VTX), as this is exactly how DJI looks after breaking antenna from the drone.
The frozen images yes, but is it also the case for the black out?

Well - I'll put off that Avatar purchase for a bit longer. Still not going back to analog though - I putter about through the trees - sometimes moving fast, mainly just cruising - a couple modest dives back down into the trees each flight. I love to look. Digital gives me that, and I love it.

I think ill go for the upcoming HDZero goggle. Its basically like analog but better resolution and a bit less penetration.
The only critisism I have is the antennas you have mounted on you're analog system versus the fatshark. I would like to see how the range is when you use a patch for example. Supposedly distance is 4 kilometers, but I can only get around 250 meters at 200mW.. with 1.9dbi stubby antennas

Is it possible that MSP needs to be enabled for the UART that this is connected to like DJI? I had that problem with a single quad when I first got started with that.

I feel like hdzero is what fatshark would have been if they hadn’t dropped the ball. Carl going off on his own means his progress will be a bit slower but it has been working great. Fatshark is still trying to go forward without Carl and apparently it isn’t going well from what we are seeing.

From what I observed, it seemed fatshark was slowing things down for HDZero, they’ve been innovating like crazy since the split. Hard to say really tho since Divimath was probably making all the internals all along and fatshark the plastics, maybe the goggles would have been here sooner but they may have been featureless like the avatar goggles with no inputs
