I haven’t watched Wheeler Dealers since Edd left either. And when I did watch it, I used to record it and fast forward through the Mike bits. What Edd does is truly fascinating and for the life of me, I can’t see why he doesn’t have his own show. I’d pay for that in a flash.

@@tinman9341 well I think Ed said they wanted to cut a lot of corners instead of showing more fixing. Thr new show you can see that . But yes an ed and ant and Mike reunion should be in the cards
They sabotaged their show....Edd was the reason why mass watched the show. They even tried to run it with Mike as stand alone but then it went to new low 😂

What they didnt tell you was the real way to check if its rings or valve seals.. pull plugs, do a compression check. If you have a low cylinder, put a splash of oil in, then recheck. If it goes up you have bad rings. If not then your issue is in the head. OR if its just the smoke it could be a leaking oil seal in the turbo. So much info left out...
And up pops Mike's Carnival Barker head trying to sell You on the WD Series without Ed. Shameless.

Big Edd is sadly missed on tv now. This show used to be brilliant until Mike the back stabber put money before friendship and quality programming. WD’s is diabolical now, no disrespect to Ant.
Only thing I’d say is it’s much easier to keep the turbo and inlet manifold bolted to the head and remove in one then strip it on a bench

The sierra still blew out blue smoke on the drag strip at the end of the show so there was still another issue maybe a worn turbo or blocked breathers possibly even rings on the way out

My gradfather has '88 Sierra 1.8 CL (Pierburg carb.). Car has no heating, while flow through heater core is normal and flaps work. Help please.

Seriously, Edd? You should have done a leakdown test to determine where the issue was before taking the head off. Every time one of these gets posted, I get my hopes up that Edd is back....
Maybe he already knew that those models have those problems there
you can't do a leak down test to check valve guid sealers
@@jimmieandersson813 It can tell you there's nothing wrong with the combustion chambers themselves, which means the oil must be coming in through the intake. In which case it would probably be the valve guides or the turbo.
Probably did that anyway and didn't show it. Lots of things done in the background to make the show flow.

6:45 Instructions not clear.... how do I rebuild my head Edd? If i remove my eyes i wont be able to see what I'm doing? Also if I remove my brain will i still survive? Could I rebuild my head in the shed or is a clean environment essential to prevent diseases when I open up my head? Also should I ask Paul to give me a hand? Or a ear? Ed rebuilding a head, I think certainly Nose what hes doing.

or of course the most likely scenario with a Ford could be the fault, the valve stem oil seals. no need to remove the cylinder head on most Ford engines as theres usually a tool to change the seals in situ. either this was all done for the sake of TV OR they already KNEW there was other issues.

Same way as he says, as he runs his finger along the bore "It looks as if this engine has recently been rebuilt". You can look and see the crosshatch and tell that. And I would not have broke the motor apart to figure this out. It's called a leak down test.
@@Billhatestheinternet the 3S-GE from my MR2 had the crosshatch still visible like that with 310k km on the clock when I had the head off this summer.
Before i even get a minute into this,im gonna say rings because its a cosworth,its boosted, and prolly owned by a college kid previously so ya,rings def gonna need to be done
Edd China: Removes Cylinder head in 1 hour.
Me: Spends 20 minutes looking for lost sockets. Can't undo hose clamps as they're really fiddly.
Rounds off a nut and have to grind it off. Grinder slips and damages other hose. Coolant spilled all over driveway.
Falls of on slippy leaves.
Reward self with cup of tea and biscuit for achieving 2% of the job.
Best part is you only get 10 minutes of the show showing Edd at his best then a message from Mike asking you to subscribe, It's Mike that is fleecing people getting revenue from this scam. Suggest you don't subscribe.
If you added labour costs into the costings, the car made a massive loss.

First time watching the show but if he even suspected rings why didnt he just start with a compression test, would have ruled out rings right awat
Zach Bochek....these episodes are all edited for time, so he very well have done a compression test and it was edited out of the final show.....
