Guard only loses when they don’t take enough guardsmen. More foot is always the answer regardless of question. The emperors mighty bayonet cannot fail, only be failed.
Got to take a good balance between Meat & Metal.
I am a fan of our Tanks in our index. You can get some decent combos with the Russ' abilities.
Still haven't managed to get a Rogal Dorn tank.
Wrong comment section... Wait for the 'worst army's in 40k' video... 😂
🔫👀
Incorrect, I have a 60% win rate in 10th and have only been taking around 50 battleline a game. Play against strong opponents on good terrain. Look at most well performimg tournament lists they bring a similar amount. Scout sentinels and things of that nature are so good.
Guard are insanely good if the player understands how to overlap those layered buffs. Like sentinel + take aim hitting on 2+ / 3+ with big guns. Kings of the casual right now.
I wouldn't mind seeing a break down of the weaker factions, and what could be done to help them out.
He made a video like that a few weeks ago
@@TheStargateNerdIncroyable.
The fact that Chaos Chosen got a points reduction in the last dataslate update is crazy to me. Such a powerful unit.
I'm curious to see what they do to Chaos Space Marines when their new codex comes out. I wouldn't mind some love for the Legionnaires though. It doesn't feel right using cultists as your main troops.
And Votann; I'm glad they're doing well, but I feel they've lost their voice a bit since 10th started. I miss their old weapon rules.
I mean depending on the Chaos Chapter, as some definitely use more cultists in lore i.e. Word Bearers and Alpha Legion are all chapters that use more cultists than the others do
Can we really qualify the alpha legions human operatives as cultists?
@@HairEEck Many Alpha Legion warbands use actual cults. In 'Sons of the Hydra' the Redacted warband runs their own cult and deploys cultists as distractions
I hope the votann codex and a few new units really bring back the flavor.
i feel like GW solved votanns early 10th edition woes in all the wrong ways. it was an army that, in its 10th edition rework, had almost all of its combos and mechanics stripped out, given almost nothing in return, lost accuracy/shots/damage on almost every gun in their roster which all conspired to make them almost unplayably bad for months, then GWs fix was the blunderbuss of just dropping the armies points by 50% and giving them +1 to hit and wound against basically your opponents whole army for free.
the laziest solution possible that made them both more expensive to collect and also not any more interesting to play. they are still the same boring, combo-less stripped down mess they were at the start of 10th, they just got their army size doubled and a sledgehammer "+1 to win" button.
lazy and disappointing
They need to find a unique design space for Votann. They made them a tough and slow army in a game with two tough and slow armies already.
Full sagitaur army is not slow 😅
i hope we get Beam back as a real keyword come the codex. It was such a fun rule for such a cool play style. The Magna jumping-damage rule is probably way too strong in general to come back alas.
Less points per model = more models sold for 2k points.
The Black Templars Power Has Finnaly Been Realised
My honest reaction when it turns out Aeldari are the best faction: 😐
That was quite a big drop considering it was 67% wr before last nerfs tho
Also it's the most played so obviously it wins more also right.
@@PhO3NiX96 U could argue that its mostly played cuz its the best faction still aswell
@lassemelson5668 yeah it's this especially when it was that much better than any other army.
As an Aeldari and CSM player, they definitely still need slight points increases, but people don't seem to understand that you need to be an extremely good player to do well with Eldar. As they're insanely easy to table if you make a single mistake
@@SpiritStoneWarrior94-yx3gsPaper tigers for sure, but that run they had at the beginning was completely fucking broken lol, there were several armies that couldn't beat them full stop...it's at least possible in theory to beat them now as long as you play appropriately
Out of all factions, I don't think any of them have been the top most broken army to play as consistently, throughout 1st to 10th edition, as much as those pointy-eared princesses.
Glad to see my World Eaters and Templars on the list (if only the Guard could get up there too)
As a Guard and soon to be WE player you're my spirit animal
As a fellow BT/WE player, its been alot of fun in 10th collecting Skulls for the Blood God and the Holy Throne!
Ive always been hyper casual, never paid any attention to how competitive plays out.
Would love to see a video going through each editions - start of edition and end - and go through the best and worst factions before having one giant video at the end where we look at graphs tracking faction win rates over time
Meanwhile Blood Angels can't even take half their unique units. Also I don't even care that the Tau are doing good, took my Onager Gauntlet, my melee Flamer, my Eight datasheet, and my Mont'ka, can't have shit in the Tau Empire.
Fusión Blades!!
Obviously the Astra Militarum (infantry only)
As a tank commander I'm sad atm
@@chronosmalkeri4157 close second is tank only guard
Nothing more satisfying than seeing Angron & the angry boys decimate a shooty Eldar list turn 1 with some good charges! Haven’t yet found any other reliable counters.
If the eldar player is letting themselves get charged turn 1, they don’t know how to properly deploy against world eaters. That match up is pretty one sided.
I respect this level of dedication and honor. A testament to Auspex’s character
glad to see orks doing well, green is best
Yeah, I’m glad factions like Orks and World Eaters are in the top ten. It shows that melee isn’t really inferior to shooting anymore.
Love my orks but the play style is getting a bit stale now. Looking forward to the codex!
All these meta chaser Aeldari bois. You'll be out of our city soon enough!! *shakes old fist*
Happy to see Votann at 4th. I was able to pick up their Christmas box so I can fill out my space dwarf army a bit more.
Unfortunately, they're only in 4th because they're effectively a horde army currently with how they're priced, but they're designed to be an elite army even though their current rules just don't live up to that. I'm hoping it doesn't stay this way all the way until they get a codex, but if it does, I would expect their codex to considerably rebalance them back to being an elite army with elite points pricing pricing, and unfortunately that means a lot of people's 2000 point armies are going to suddenly become 3000 point armies.
@cassiecaradoc2070 I hope to hell they make votann elite again and bring back my beams and I would be happy with elite prices
Happy to see the Tau in the top 10. I look forward to our Codex next spring and hopefully some new units.
I really see new good lore pulling out the good players toward those armies.
I"m happy to see Chaos Knights doing well this edition.
Im really hoping for some Emperor's children this edition. I also just started GSC a month back and there a lotta fun, love the hit and run techniques and the amazing melee units. But since I'm a chaos guy I'd love some EC refreshes. Some actual rules, new models, and i hope they make Lucius come back to life ability fun.
I got GSC in my pile of potential, or at least the start of one anyway, looking forward to them whenever I finish painting up the Nids I have in front of them in queue
@johnhildenbrand2642 niiiice, I wanted to start nids. But I felt like they lacked that umpf. There lore and purpose is very simple, and I like stuff with some substance lol. Then I heard about GSC and they were everything I loved. Being a chaos player and loving cultist the GSC fit right in lol
@dillonhansen3839 I got the Leviathan box, I only wanted the nids, but my SM deal fell through so I ended up with both, I also grabbed the Xmas nid box, and once GW stops smoking that bad shit and drops the SM box down to 175ish, where it bloody should be, I will probably track one of those down too, also got WE in line for the paint booth, so I'm up to my neck in it this year 😂🤣
EC all but confirmed by gw for this edition.
@joshramirez2049 I sure hope so, chaos just feels...incomplete without the 4th faction
Great overview.
Surprising seeing the drop in Tau win rates. They were looking like top 4 straight after the balance dataslate. Are there any particular armies they are struggling with ?
Rush armies hurt them a lot if they don't get first turn.
Also armies with lots of MSU, and things like Genestealers that can DS and outshoot them. They rely heavily on their Crisis blobs, so if they get taken out without having done some substantial damage to the enemy armies then they falter pretty quickly.
Uthar is a good character for Votann. With the clarification on Grim Demeanor and similiar abilities, his damage reduction is now viable in all situations and he provides more to a hearthguard squad than an e-champ.
Vottan need to be a heavy Risk/Reward faction, puttig your troops in danger to gain tokens to deal out some exttreme damage.
The risk is balancing loosing troops to dealing damage, they shouldnt have a 'expendeble' troop to ensure we always keep that in mind
Can GW please do something about Aeldari? I wouldn't mind seeing them drop to 48% win percentage (or less).
I agree, totally agree
Being butt hurt isn’t a good way to balance. You wouldn’t want your factions to get nerfed into the dirt if they were only slightly too good. Night spinners need a nerf but that’s about it. They carry at high level competition. A really stupid unit between the damage and debuff. With that changed though the faction would be fine. Maybe a slight point increase to wraith guard too. But that’s it.
I’m a knights player (loyalist ones).
Even in my case there was no need to nerf my army to the dirt. yet it happened and it seems that the community appreciated it. and the win rate wasn't even as high as the eldar's!
@@carloago8305 that's exactly my point. Every other army that was performing well above 50% WR got nerfed. Yet Aldari just keep getting the pass. I get that they want to slowly nerf them, but geez it's been since the release of 10th that they've been this good. Knights were in a decent spot and were hovering right around a 50% WR and they got giga-nerfed.
@@joshramirez2049 it really isn't about my factions. I have multiple factions to choose from when I play (Necron, SM, Nids, Votann, DG, Knights, Tau, and Chaos SM). Some of which are doing really well. It's extremely frustrating to see other factions get the nerf bat and they haven't been oppressive as Aldari have been. If you attend any major event a vast majority of players are just spamming them at this point because of how imbalanced they are.
My Drukharis are waiting for some love from GW ... Crossfinger the next dataslate
Im thinking about start collecting the Tabletop minis. I decided to start with necrons, but it seems im late to the (undead) party
Me crying with my Dark Lance Drukhari at the bottom
Me crying even farther down with my non-lance Drukhari
LETS GO TEMPLARS!!!!
Hello mate,
Did you forget Custodes on the first part of the video ? « Honourable mention »
Or is it on purpose because we are so low in win percentage ^^
Eldar are solid mainly because of Yncarne TP rule. Other big models can be glued if necessary, but the Yncarne cannot. Killing eldar units means helping the Yncarne often.
the ability shall be restricted. I don't know, maybe triggerable only when a unit of 10 Wounds is killed, meaning killing little five model scoring units cannot trigger it.
Nah the rule just needs to be reverted to 9th edition version and then drop the points on her. And nerf night spinners ( they are what really carries the faction in competitive) .
I am always looking for the "Most Played Army list" but can't find one.
I trust Auspex's data, mind sharing a site where you get the figures for the video?
Incroyable.
Most played hands down is space marines. It is where most new players start and where many players never leave.
@@timunderbakke8756They are so diverse and cool, it makes sense. Also, if you want to go evil, marines have your back for that too.
Necrons: Yes, yes, of course, f**k me 🥲
I am new to 40k and picked Aeldari bc they look cool, started collecting and playing in spring. I mostly play against my friend who plays T'Au and the Winrate is fairly 50/50. However I understand that they need a nerf, I just hope they aren't going to make erverything more expensive bc then I would have to make a new 1000pt list already 😥
It is funny to me how the eldar seem to be consistently an op faction on tabletop, but spent like 20 years with most of their army using old ass models
Where do the stats for most played armies come from?
i really hope Orks gets some walker detachments or somthing for all there armor / flyers / cars... im really not into all that beast range for my orks.
I’m not an orks player, but the nids dex gave thematic detachments with swarm, big bug, psychic, sneaky bug, etc. if that’s any indication, I’m optimistic for you. Think you’ll see mechanized, boyz horde, dakka, etc.
@@honey_badger1450 x´ing fingers :)
I am absolutely cheered to see my faith in the leagues be rewarded.
Oh sweet, best army lists!
>Necrons aren't mentioned anywhere even in honorable mentions<
Sad:( I don't think they're bad right now at all, but Crons have the same issue as last edition that their balance both internal and external is balanced on a razors edge, and slight shifts either way tend to shift them rather significantly. Before it seemed like we were one of the up and coming boogeymen from the dataslate but the moderate point changes were enough to hold us down enough to, for example, not show up here. Necrons will still place and even win once in a while but don't seem consistent or active enough in game to really solidify their place. Highly durable for "some, not all" datasheets, struggle to kill things, and slow speed means their only real strategy is "get to objective, sit there long enough to matter" and with the adjusting of lists in response to that Necrons again suffer from the equation of "can you wipe my unit in a turn? Yes? I lose." I argue that its actually fine, and makes for interesting countering between armies, but the trade rate is off vs other armies where having all the bells and whistles for a lychguard or warrior block runs you in the 400-700 point area when you're buying characters, upgrades, reanimators, thralls, arks etc.
Im having a ton of fun playing my Necrons this edition so far, but there are definitely a few things I would like to see shift even if it only affects internal balance. More reliable/durable destroyers (Make the melee ones actually killy), guns that we're wet noodles on everything that isn't heavy support, and some kind of durability buff for my Monolith (Please hes the best model!). With the upcoming codex my hopes are high but reasonable! Im really excited for the detachments, so far those seem interesting! Either which way Im having a wonderful time, and look forward to changes as they come, glory to the Eternal Legions!
🆗
Adeptus Custodes: 😐
I just wanna use my dreadnoughts man.
Invictor warsuit is probably 'better' than any custodes dreadnought in any situation... makes zero sense

As someone who's planning to start collecting orks I'm glad to see how well they're doing
It means when GW hits them with the nerfhammer I'll need to buy less to get up to 1000
Sadly Orks won't go up by much at all tbh, they're a Horde army and always will be. You might just have to buy 1 less unit than you thought at most

What’s the estimated timeframe for the Dark angels range refresh ? Anyone know ?
With the codex I believe
I really don't care about the competetive scene and standings per faction, but seeing my factions not performing well makes me a bit sad.
so the necrons are not reanimating anymore?
WEZ STILL IZ DA BESTES LADZ!!!!!
No mention of Imperial Knights at all? Did I miss it?
Imperial knights got absolutely RAILED with the nerf bat. Changes to Devastating Wounds, Towering, Overwatch, and combine that with the Strategem and Bondsman ability nerfs. Their win rate plummeted to under 50% and never recovered.
I feel like Necrons aren't too bad right now, I feel where just in a doomer viewpoint against them since the Overlord nerf.
Votann "a little short ranged"
SHORT?!
SHORT?!
Kinda wild to me that none of the SM codex detachments are anywhere in the video. And I guess shoutout to all of the people who thought that the codex coming out would mean that SM would be in the top percentage of armies.
pretty sure the Iron storm detachment is at 52% at the moment, however its being run mostly by divergent chapters like templar as they are just space marines +
Black Templars does it better
First 3-5 codices out of the gate ALWAYS end up lower middle tier at best.
Those initial books are all typically written either alongside the new edition's rules and/or finished up within weeks of the edition launch... they just don't get the player feedback & game stats until after those books are likely shipped off to the printers.
Wait until the back end of this initial wave of codices that'll finally drop come April & May next year, then we'll get a better idea of what the codex might end up looking like
Of course, GW could always then turn around & shift their design ethos mid edition, as they've done in the past and turn everything into an absolute dumpster fire like they did in 3rd, 4th & 7th editions for example.
😢 the moment I realise that Necrons arent in the top ten.
Out of all SM chapters there is only one in top 10 and it's a successor chapter XD
This really feels like the most balanced I've ever seen 40k.. They've done a great job - particularly in avoiding codex power over indices. Good job GW.
Balanced? Yeah I guess. Not as good as back end of 9th still in my opinion, but 10th also feels just really boring for some armies. Votann, despite being good are just so boring to play.
Well done GW..
The same GW that destroyed Imperial knights and Custodes xD
If your armies get destroyed like them you’d probably see the whole thing on a different prospective.
@@carloago8305 I totally agree about Custodes! Imperial knights are still a decent stat check army i think. But yeah. Agree they went a bit hard there and not hard enough with the eldar.. But one of my armies are Drukhari so I do feel your pain! Even then the difference between best and worst is not terrible compared to previous years I think. So deffo think they're on the right track.. Especially if they keep the new codexes in the same power range..
Meh. Nephilim was a lot better than this. The immediate post-dataslate meta looked very balanced, and I praised it a fair bit; but as time passed, and people crunched numbers and optimized lists, it became pretty apparent that some factions are able to be optimized a damn lot more than others, and the meta suffers for it.
I really think Aeldar would be fine if their stuff did even slightly less damage.
It’s really just night spinners. Absolutely dumb unit in the hands of an experienced competitive player. Nerf that and the faction is still good but nothing crazy.
Man, fingers crossed the world eaters don’t get hit too hard by the next data slate, melee this editions really isn’t that great, and I feel like strong datasheets are needed to sorta make up for that.
Overall I think the meta’s actually pretty decent! CSM and eldar win rates are ahead, but at least it’s not by a disgusting amount, and besides, the best part about eldar having the highest win rate means that even the most diehard of meta slaves will think twice about starting an army that’s old enough to drink🤣
-stares at my golden boys- man they just don't want melee to be strong
My csm army relies on melee and ive won 17 games in a row...
People keep saying melee isn't good and yet melee armies seem to be doing quite well?
@@liveac3694 hrm, I think it’s more melee this edition is really janky, esp with changes to pile in/consolidate and stuff. I think melee CSM are strong because of their army rule, but the strength in world eaters and orks isn’t that they blend through units, but more of their high mobility, especially in transports
As a Custodes player, being excluded from even an honerable mention is depressing. We used to be tough, reseliant, and flexible. Now we just suck because GW is to lazy to make any changes with thought.
Custodes are the most boring, uninspired army. I roll my eyes when I have to play against them.
lazy? GWs problem is the 40K fans willingness to buy whatever for whatever price

first to comment! Yay! Thanks for all the work you put in for us auspex. You're the reason I'm so into 40k now!
Complete noob here.. How are Dark Angels doing these days ?
If there is one thing I've learned from being into 40k for the past 28 years its play eldar if you always want to be strong or at least strong enough to win
For me chaos space marines are the strongest. World Championship top was full of them, not Many aeldari tbh.
Is it me or missing necrons ?
How do people deal with crisis suits? Im repainting my necrons and need those suits dead!
In my experience, you probably need to accept that the crisis bomb will kill a unit. I'd recommend having something set up to blast them away, or just focus them down if they aren't in deepstrike.
IMPERIAL GUARD doesnt even get a mention 🤬
Custodes were nerfed into the ground while stronger factions were left alone and/or made stronger. Weak factions were left completely untouched, Not balanced at all.
Seven months ago, Grey Knights were not even in the Top 18
So nids have new codex etc and still at 47%! There well going to drop more then once other factions get there codex
If you haven't caught on yet, codexes don't seem to be adding power this edition - merely options
Same as the Space Marines.
Short?!
I am a space elf fangirl. I will never not love the Eldar. But. I think they could do with a nerf to not be like 8% higher than the nearest faction. It IS a game.
There will never not be a... stronger vs weaker appeal, but I don't think it should be so extreme. Should Grey Knights have a bit of an advantage to Daemons? Yes. Should the average Eldar unit destroy and Imperial Guard unit? Yes - but there should be balancing around that.
Now - if the lore truly represented their strength and stopped using Eldar bodies as cum-rags for their next un-named captain, then I would fight anyone who ever dared disagree.
Suprise suprise, no blood angels. Despite them canonically being the army that's policing half the imperium
Me who has none of the armies I really like/ have on this video 😢
wait where are necrons?
Yea, the Tau are in a pretty alright spot 🥲 The meta at my lgs is melee rush armies. Also good luck against any titans or tanky melee units. 🫡
LoV are good right now but claiming they managed to win “5 big tournaments” is a bit far fetched. None of those tournaments was big. The reason many top players don’t take LoV to events is they are predictable and they seem to be unable to go 5-0 with ease.
No wonder gw charges as much as they do, arbitrarily raising the price basically yearly at this point.... auspex has 260 thousand subs!
Genestealers are tare dince they are the most expensive.
Money isprobsbly the biggest obstacle.
No, spelling is the biggest obstacle. I almost got a stroke trying to read this.
Dark Obscuration is the most BS stratagem EVER
😂
It really is though, when you have a chaos lord to do it twice per turn it’s so lame. Invalidates lots of armies.
hmmm, this is not looking good for the skelly squad
Eldar have always been cheese
This list is wrong. AdMech are the strongest army in 40k because they're the coolest. Stay winning mars bros, aesthetic > meta 😎😎😎
Eldar supremacy!
Heavy lay the head with the bowling pin-shaped crown
Points are so out of whack that I wouldn’t say the game is in a good spot regardless of win rates
Jesus the top two have the most wins seems unbalanced but idk I don’t do tournaments.
.
It's literally 3am on a Sunday does anyone know how to fit 8 hours sleep into 3 hours
For every five 5-hour energies you drink, you unlock 1 extra hour. Or you make your heart explode.
Sheer power.
Please, none of the big knights in chaos are usable, dont kid yourself. Rampager, Desecrator and Despoiler are, at the very best, sub-par, and stuff like Abominant and Tyrant are trash tier. None of the big knights is worth its points in game compared to dogs and you only harm your win ratio by running them. Love the models, but the points are way too high. They went up 60-70 points because towering, and after the rule was changed those points remained, and now they cant even overwatch (most important for Tyrant and Despoiler) and no points drop either for that.
Also, the rules in CK are bad, battleshock tests are random (and even with the -1 they are in your opponents favor) and the rest come online way too late and you are most likely dead by then... and they are still random, so you cant even rely on them if you make it by then.
Its not a good time for CK players that want to run big knights instead of relying on Dog spam.
eLdAr always winning
Where is astra militarum?
Guard is licking the 45% WR threshold, mostly. Some weeks from above, some weeks from below.
We're target practice again.
For the Emperor. 💀
I'd rather have craftworld eldar be hot garbage for 5 editions str8 in order to have a 1/16 of the lore the imperium and space marines get. Imperium players have the privilege of being able to pick up a book and read about a space marine being a baddass. We DO NOT have that in the slightest. Our main writer gav thorpe takes every opportunity to depict the eldar as utterly incompetent Neolithic bafoons who have to beg space marines not to destroy their craftworld (this actually happened). Imagine picking up the 3rd book of a trilogy and a space marine chapter master grovels before a necron lord and begs him not to destroy his fortress monetary and to spare the Geneseed stores. You'd be pretty pissed right? Now imagine every single space marine book is like that. That's what it's like to be an Eldar fan.
Aww..
While I wouldn’t take that trade, I agree that’s it’s very nuts 😂 it’s so weird bc sometimes it seems like he knows what he’s doing but then other times the writing is just ATROCIOUS.
When is the nerf for aeldari?
Yeah custodes/grey knights are dead this edition. I just play Horus Heresy now, much more balanced and fun also 3k point games are far faster and easier then a 2k 40k game. Gonna coax out on Horus Heresy until Custodes/Grey Knights become playable...I don't even want them to be as strong as they were before. I'd accept a solid 48/49% win rate compared to this like 39/40%.
Hello fellow insomniacs
