    For me, the V was a total game-changer. It's been a long time since I've had a camera this user-friendly. The straightforward menu, the ergonomics, the incredible details in the images...wow.

      Agree, moved from the RIV to the RV, it is a massive difference in terms of handling it (also given that you do not have to shoot at 61mp all the same). Excellent all round stills camera.

    I love my A7RV. I use it pretty exclusively for photography (landscape, product, portraits). In camera focus bracketing and the increased resolution of the EVF have been a game changer for me. The only thing I would change would be a higher burst rate, but I guess then really you are entering A9 and A1 territory and the stacked sensor.

    Thanks for the video! I am a hybrid, shooter, more so heavy on the photo side. Right now I use the a7R IV for photos and the a7s iii for video work. I like to keep 2 bodies at all times so I’m debating on either replacing the a7s iii with the RV
or keep the s iii and replace the R IV đŸ€” I do really like the dual native ISO on the s iii and being able to get a clean image at 12,800

  • @NickDelDuca
    @NickDelDuca Pƙed rokem +6

    the A7R V is a huge upgrade on the video side. I actually prefer it to the A7siii. It's got better IBIS, the new flip screen that can pull out so it doesn't get in the way of a side handle and the AF is better. And the second native ISO of 2500 in Slog 3 is usually plenty if you are doing low light stuff. For photos the S M and L raws do have smaller file sizes and are their respective 16, 26, and 61 megapixels. Not sure how they are reducing the megapixels of raws but they somehow figured it out... And with that comes noise reduction. The 16 and 26 megapixel raws have noticeably less noise than the 61 mpx. Also the 26 megapixel raws transfer much faster wirelessly to Capture One.

    Unboxing my new A7RV as I watch and can't wait to get outside and take some pics/vids. I don't think I'm selling my A7RIV just yet though as I like to have a second body when out shooting wildlife (one for vids, one for photos), however I may choose later to look at a video centric camera (ZV-E1 might be a future buy) and then the A7RIV might be redundant (naw). Thanks for the video.

    Question.....I am using an a99 camera with some minolta lenses (80-200 f2.8, 300 f4, 85 f1.4 etcetera and several zeiss lenses, 135 f1.8, 16-35 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8..) and IÂŽm looking to upgrade the camera, nĂłt the lenses. I donÂŽ't think it makes much sense to get the a99ii. IÂŽ'm looking now to the a77r iv or v. I shoot almost entirely stills often in low Light (classical concerts, music concerts). Does it make sense to get a a77r iv or v coupled with a LA-EA 5 adapter?

    I just upgraded from the a7iv to the a7rv a few months ago. The only thing that I don't need is 61 mp (so I shoot in medium @ 26mp). That being said, if the a7v might be the one to get, but I couldn't wait a few years. (Sell some of your gear LOL like the a7riv)... The a7rv is more $, but TBH, the additional features you get IMO make it a better value - EVF, Rear Screen, Advanced AF, and lots of others. I think Sony was really trying to future proof it.

    If you have the Sony A7RIV or A7IVA then you do not need to upgrade, it is the same sensor as in the Sony A7RV, so the image quality is the same. The only real improvement is the EVF and the IBIS.

      I have both a7r iv and a7 r v . Bought v refurbished. Is there a real life difference in experience ? I feel none , zero . Does my refurbished have old a7r iv evf ? Makes me wonder . So question - is there a difference in experience in real life in the evf between 2? I have Fuji 100ii biiig difference in evf . I also have Panasonic g9 and Olympus 0m1 even there eggs are better than mine a7r v .

    I have an a7riv and my only complaint is the year lcd isn't fully articulating. Kind of silly, I know, but would help in a lot of situations for my limited shooting - NEVER shoot video. Not sure if I would pay the difference (selling the iv for the v) since I literally use my camera less than 5 times a year. Lol. But if I was buying from scratch, I would probably get the v.

    I think it’s hilarious how people get so caught up in getting the newest camera instead of maybe improving a skill set. I have an a7iv and am completely satisfied. 33 mps. are plenty and I’ve even blown them up on canvas and it’s great. Who needs that many camera bodies. I bet Sony loves seeing you coming. I’d rather spend my cash on better lenses. Really unless you’re standing two inches from your monitor it’s not a great difference. Certainly not thousands of dollars difference.

    No, with the recently announced Nikon Z8, I think as a Sony R4 owner I like what I see in Nikon Z8 than the R5. Z8 is a better allrounder than Sony A7 R5 and Canon R5.

    A7RV is worth the upgrade and the true successor to the a7Riii. The a7RIV was not much of a game changer like people said it is. It only added a 61 mp sensor, dual UHS-ii card slots, and bigger body. But it wasn't a game changer that made me want to upgrade from my a7Riii entirely. The a7Riii was a huge game changer from the a7Rii. Faster autofocus, eye-AF, 399 AF points, Z-battery, bigger body, and so much more. The A7RIV felts like a small upgrade which is why I waited until the a7RV is out. I don't recommend anyone to get an a7Riv unless they can get a used one for $2,000 usd. Otherwise, a7RV all the way!
