This is awesome thank you. Mine just went out after replacing it exactly 1 yr ago. Fortunately theres a lot of cheap harnesses on Amazon for under $50 now but your suggestion seems much more reliable.
Yes sir! Thanks for your comment brother!
As soon as you posted this video, a week later mine goes out! Have one on the way now thanks to you!
Lol, happy to help brother!
Thank you so much!!!! Mine went out yesterday in a tournament at the very moment I went to run back to weigh in. Mine would go up but not down. It was on 5 and I wasn’t sure if I would make it back in time. Thank you again.
Yes sir, happy to help!
Mine just went out, looks like I am going to give this route a try, thank you for sharing!
They will, lol! It’s been working great for several years now with no issues!
It always helps when you have an engineering mind set on things that are mechanical Hat off to you Jody. 😎
Thanks brother!
Thank you for this hack, it has been a money saver. Also for clearing up where the purple wire connects to.
Absolutely! Happy to help!
Hello, I just found your you tube channel. THANK YOU!!!!! For all the info and tips. I just did my anodes, you made me think I could do it. You made it easy. Thanks, my jackplate relay went bad on me so I purchased the relay you suggested, Thanks again
Yes sir! Thanks for your comment brother! Happy to help!
This is the best idea ever!! thank you Bandit.. Reef Hippie Charters, Matagorda Tx !!
Thanks brother, happy to help!
Thanks for taking my call about the purple wire. I’m hooked up and working great. What a great hack!!!!!
Awesome brother! Happy to help, and enjoyed you call!
Please share information about the purple wire. Thanks
Purple wire from rocker switch will go to 12v positive
I had to do the same thing a couple years ago! I think I bought the same one you showed. Great minds think alike! 😂
Lol, heck yeah brother!
In case that happe s again on a Atlas relay ypu can raise a stuck in low poditipn by switching the wire connectors from blue to blue to blue to the opposite one. The faultu relay will raise the motor when you push down on your switch. Adjust and stop to get back to dock. If it to shallow reverse again to get motor lower
Nice to know!
Thank you so much. I’ve replace my relay twice. Now it broke again.
Happy to help brother!
Just a side note. I received the relay in from Amazon yesterday. I installed it this morning. Works perfect. Thanks again.
I have an atlas micro jacker and it has 2 relays on the harness…so I guess I’d need 2 of the Amazon ones? Thanks for the video!
No, should only need 1. These are dual acting relays.
Jody thanks again for a great video! I have a signal light like bar next to my steering wheel that I use to raise and lower the backplate. That harness has 3 wires the new solenoid only has green and black. Do you know how I would adapt it for my boat?
Usually you should have a purple which is hot from the battery to your switch, a blue which is up, and a green which is down. Probably blue to blue and green to black, if it works backwards just reverse them
You are THE MAN!!! Thank You Again! Wired it up purple to battery +, green to green wire from solenoid and blue to black from solenoid. Worked like a champ and you can hear the power difference where it’s moving the jackplate. I was on my 2nd TH Harness and I was not going to use that piece of junk again! Thank You Very Much for the extremely informative videos! So far you’ve gotten me through 2 oil changes and now the relay swap!
Heck yeah brother! Glad to help!
My jack plate is doing the same thing, the up has gone out. Thanks for the tip
Yes sir! I get about 2-3 people a week letting me know of the same issue I had, lol! It works great going on 5 years now! If you have any issues wiring it up, Let me know!
I'm having the same problem. I just ordered the solenoid, I'm wondering if you could share which wires go where for hooking it up. Thanks for the help!@@bayoubanditcharters
Good job
Thanks brother!
Thanks much for hack. If I want a remote hack thats only 30 bucks from Amazon, What do I have to add or change to plug and play on my Atlas Micro electric J.P. on my 15' open jon boat. ?
Nothing. It has a built in transmitter and a remote
Thanks for the video. I have an Atlas Micro Jacker. My understanding is that the winch solenoid completely replaces the TH marine wiring harness with relays? So just hook up pos/ neg leads from battery, hardwire pos/neg from actuator and connect to rocker switch? Any fuse needed?
That is correct! Be sure to hook your purple wire from rocker switch to 12v positive.
@@bayoubanditcharters In that case, I'm ordering now. Pretty easy repair. Thank you!
Thanks for the great hack tip. I was down in Key West and my switch went out. I couldn't get the jack plate up. Had no connectors in my Ranger 24' Bahia so I cut the wires and cross connected and it worked as you describe. I found the relay switch you talk about, but my bad unit has three other wires attached to it. A light blue, light green and a purple. Where do they go? I assume the light green and blue are connected to the blue post. What about the purple and what is it for? Thanks
Those are control voltage wires running to your rocker switch. Purple connects to 12v positive. You should have 2 small wires on the side of the relay ( green and black?) this is where you connect your blue and green wires from rocker switch.
@@bayoubanditcharters Awesome, thank you very much. I'll let you know how it goes.
@@bayoubanditcharters I gave it a try. connected the colored wires accordingly to the posts then connected the two bottom wires Green to green and then blue to black. That left the purple. Connected it to the positive and all i got was a click. Any suggestions?
Great news! After thinking about it I decided to go check out the fuse and it was blown. Now the system works fine. I still have a click, but the jack plate goes up and down.
In the rocker swich do u have to put power or u just run the green and black wire straight to the switch
The rocker switch will already have a 12v power wire (purple I believe)
I can’t thank you enough!
Happy to help brother!
Ty
Yes sir!
Thanks for the info and I'm subscribed now.
Yes sir, thanks!
I have a sea star that’s not working. It’s in the down position right now and I’m just starting the trouble shooting phase but I’m thinking this might be the issue. South Mississippi guy. I fish all the time I sub
Thanks brother! It very well could be your issue.
Detwiler from the early 2000s that won’t go up? Does anyone know if the wiring is similar?
If it has two wires going to the motor, it should work.
My jack plate stay in up position, won’t come down
reverse the green and blue wires from your factory relay to jack plate. if it goes down then you need to do as shown in the video.
Bobs runs a solenoid kit with harness, can I use this relay kit?
If there is two wires coming from your motor, it will work!
@@bayoubanditcharters I got three (blue, green, black)
Need to check with a volt meter. Atlas doesn’t have the black which is probably a ground.. should still work if you hook black to the same terminal as the ground from battery, but need to verify with a meter.
@@bayoubanditcharters yup just read it - looks like it’s a ground on there manual. Will try!
I got everything hooked up other than the cable from the switch which has 3 wires (green, blue, purple) but only the 2 wires coming from the relay. Is there a bypass?
Purple wire is 12v supply. Hook up purple to positive on battery and you'll be good to go!
@@bayoubanditcharters thanks for the reply. I got it on and now I’m at least getting clicking. 🤦🏼♂️ I’m sure I’m missing something
Give me a call if you can’t figure it out brother. 251-465-1598
@@bayoubanditchartersthanks for the help. Went out yesterday and works like a charm.
@@bayoubanditchartersGood evening Sir, mine just clicks on the relay when I press the up and down. I’m I missing something? I followed the wiring hook you showed.
Thanks
Do you do away with the relays completely
Yes!
Thanks a million but mine won’t go down
This will fix your problem as well.
