Do you wish any of these would make a comeback?
Marie Callendar's pies? Yes. All the others...No.
Choco Taco and Push up's. I liked those.
Flintstones sherbet push ups
@@not_nostradamus683 🤨 I am not eating at your house with Marie Calendar.
Mike sucked in mst3000. 😁
Does anyone remember the BANQUET boiling bags? They were big in the 1960's and 1970's. You put them in a small pan of boiling water until they were warm, cut off an end, and poured them onto bread or mashed potatoes. Obviously by the late 70's the microwave was taking over the kitchen, and that probably doomed them. But it was still a few years before they perfected most microwave meals, and then they replaced those with other things. But boy, did they ever come in handy...and were very good. They came in individual and family sizes, in beef, chicken, or pork, all in gravy.
Oh those were the bomb 💣 we'd buy em by the gross, quick, easy and damn tasty!
Yes! I had these if my parents worked late. The best one was the beef and gravy. That was tasty.
Beef was my favorite
Chicken a al king over white rice 🌊🍗🍚😋
OMG YALL! I had to pause it at the Flinstone Push-up pops!! I am 43 years old, and my favorite memories of visiting my Dad was I knew he had some Push-ups waiting for me in the freezer. Love you Daddy!🥰🥰
2:55 Jell-o pudding pops were so good, but Jell-o gelatin pops were my absolute favorite of all time
I'm still heartbroken over the Stauffers frozen beef stroganoff dinner being discontinued. I even made monthly trips from Nevada to Arizona until they to ran out. Sniffle.
Can someone explain why these companies discontinue items that are CLEARLY popular???? That's the one thing missing in these types of videos. Even if they raised the price it seems most consumers would roll with it like we have for everything else. This needs to be a conversation because it's kind of weird.
In some cases the character they are based on (Like Spongebob or Carebears) either lose popularity or decide to charge too much for licensing. Take kid cuisine, they still have mac and cheese meals, but they have he penguin on them now instead of Spongebob cause they didn't want to pay for Spongebob.
Sourcing issues, consumer advocacy, complexity of production, etc. It can be due to a lot of things. And just because something seems popular doesn't mean it actually is profitable.
Not making enough money is why
Does anyone remember Hershey's selling choc bars with mint?🤤🤤
???
As a diet-conscious latchkey teen in the 1980s, I fondly remember Lean Cuisine cheese manicotti and stuffed cabbage entrees. There was also a delicious vegetable lasagna, but I can't remember if it was Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers. More recently, I was devastated when they discontinued Lean Pockets. The ham & cheese and the chicken/ broccoli/ cheddar ones were delicious!
I only liked lean pocket ham and cheese the regular kind was nasty.
Oh man the broccoli cheddar chicken one was the best!
I am half Hungarian so I was very into the stuffed cabbage and bell peppers.
I remember The Flintstones push up pops, and the kid cuisines. They used to have a pizza one that I used to enjoy.
Marie Callenders frozen meals , like the fried chicken and pot pies , were/are always excellent.Pricey, but delicious.
They brought back the pot pies
I live in Washington state and the grocery stores here still carry a wide variety of Marie callender's items.
Maurice Callenders also took the toast out of their spaghetti dinners.
@@thaismatsumoto yup. That was my favorite part of the fettuccine alfredo
R.I.P Boston cream pie toaster strudel you were always my favorite
I used to get the banquet Mexican tv dinners they were SOOO good! their used to be a slew of frozen Mexican dinners different manufacturers made but you really don't see many at all now days!
Yes ! They had one with an enchilada and tamale with rice, sauce & beans! Really great! I also remember in the early 70's ( I was around 10 or so!)...they came out with a large TV dinner tray that included a section with different varieties of Campbell's soups..they were wonderful! And the worst part was waiting the 35 to 40 minutes for them to be done in the REGULAR oven...no microwaves back then, and the trays were all made of foil!
They were sooooo gooood. I loved them.
Yes.I used to get the cheese enchilada. Have been looking and looking.I wondered why I couldn’t find them.
The 90”s were great times 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I loved the original Great Starts breakfasts. They had a great coffee cake with the scrambled eggs!
Back in the day Banquet came out with nacho chicken nuggets. These were the best chicken nuggets ever, I bought them by the case. Within 6 months they stopped making them, I was so bummed.
Nobody talks about bbq Hot Pocket disappearing, probably because it had a lot of beef in it. It was the only one I liked.
I knew I wasn't the only one who noticed.
I remember those
Or the chicken fajita one.
@@DrEvil818 That was my favorite flavor. The chicken fajita. I can't find croissant pockets anymore either 😕
I miss jello pudding pops :(
After some of my favorite foods disappeared, I've learned not to "fall in love" with products. There are SO many products that I loved eating in the 90s and the healthy spin they have put on some of the still existing products makes it less nostalgic.
Yes since I work in a grocery store I remember a lot of these. The toaster pastries had a chocolate flavor too and can't find that anymore. These companies should bring back these discontinued foods. I remember the pudding pops too.
Anyone remember those little egg rolls that came in a box that were shaped like pizza rolls? They were yummy!
I remember those! They were yummy. Wish they were still around ☺️🤤😋
Do you mean Chun King? The company is out of business. I loved the chicken ones.
Marie calendar pot pies are still delicious.
I remember back when the pandemic started I had an unexplained craving to eat Kid Cuisine and to my surprise it wasn't on the freezer shelves anymore. Same with Cheez Nips. I believe both Kid Cuisine and Cheez Nips were discontinued around the same time which was 2020 and I think lack of popularity and a focus on less variety and more necessity during the pandemic caused many of my childhood food products to be randomly discontinued with the exception of Dunkaroos which was actually the opposite!
Kid Cuisine must be only discontinued in some stores because it's still being sold in my nearest store
I never hear anyone talk about Smucker’s Uncrustables frozen grilled cheese sandwiches. My parents bought my sister and I a box of them back around 2009 and we never had them again because they discontinued them shortly after. The one time we had them they were GREAT though, and I don’t understand how or why such a product wouldn’t sell? Smucker’s should definitely bring them back.
I remember those.
I miss Mother's Brand Angel Cookies. The company still makes other varieties, like their famous pink and white Iced Animal Cookies. But I miss that angels even though they were not based on a cartoon character.
I haven't been seeing Stouffer's Turkey and Stuffing dinners around no more...
What happened to their frozen beef stroganoff? It was so yum. And escalloped chicken frozen dinner.
Because a lot of people got to lazy to cook.
Does anyone else remember Morton’s Frozen Donuts from the 70’s? They were the best! Wish they still made them!
Very good!
Loved those miss the cinnamon ones the most
What happened to lean pockets? I miss the pretzel crust and broccoli cheddar option.
Also the funny foot ice cream was sold in ice cream trucks in the US but it had a gumball on the big toe and was called "Froze Toes."
As a child of the 90s I always stayed away from that one. Not only because I've never liked chewing gum, but never understood why it needed to be a foot...
Wait, Swanson tv dinners are not being sold???? Marie calendar herb roasted chicken dinner is gone too!!!! When did that happen 🤔. Guess I would have known that if I still bought tv dinners!
People always get upset when these things go away, but the reason why they go away is because they stop buying them!!!!
I miss Gumby Freezer Pops! Not that they were all that different from Otter Pops, but that they had cool Gumby merchandise offers on the boxes!
My family loved pudding pops. I wish they were still available.
They were SO good!
Part of the corporate reluctance to bring the pudding pops back might be related to the disgraced former pitchman (shown very briefly in this video at 3:34, but not mentioned by name here) having been so closely associated with the product. If pudding pops were not a significant percentage of overall sales anyway, the Jell-O corporation would probably rather not remind people that he used to be one of their paid spokesmen.
I was a kid in the 70's and 80's. We had way more stuff to pick from which would never be made today. One of the best was the refillable pop the sold at the bottle return.
People would buy reusable clear bottles. They had the syrup and carbonated water behind a counter. They had flavors like raspberry, lemon lime and even peach.
Anybody else remember this? They tasted so much better then what you get now. It was more like Mexican soda in the glass bottle.
I was a kid in the seventies & eighties too but I don't remember those. Sounds delicious though ☺️
I remember.
I miss something from the 1980s. Pepperidge Farm had a line called Delis that were of surprisingly high quality and so good. They were the predecessor to junk versions, like Hot Pockets, etc. I don't know anyone that remembers them, as they were only around for a couple of years.
They were good. I can still see the commercial “Pepperidge Farm Remembers!”
@@karenrosen2983 Yeah, they had the old guy with the straw hat advertising them.
Does anyone remember Pepperidge Farm chocolate brownie walnut cookies from the ‘70’s / 80’s ? The crunchy ones..
@@klmjtr Yes, I loved those!
It didn't make the list, but can anyone tell me what happened to frozen peach pies? I swear I haven't seen one since before the pandemic. Seriously. I used to buy Mrs. Smith's peach cobbler. Why is no one talking about this?!!
@Melissa D, I can't find Mrs. Smith's peach or blackberry cobblers in my local grocery stores either. It's been months since I have seen these frozen desserts.
@@patriciakeith6755 Exactly!
I read somewhere it has to with the labor shortage in picking fruits and vegetables. My family loves to make tart cherry pies, and the Oregon brand is the best we think. I live in the Midwest, and the stores started stocking these about three months ago. Our local Schnucks store had a few in-house baked ones just in time for Christmas.
2 things i want back yes the pudding pops but also not mentioned the pizza bite sized mini eggrolls that came in bags like frozen veggies.
Totino's pizza rolls ? They still sell those. I had to Google because I haven't had them in two years or so.
@@gwendolyncampbell7932 no idea never done pizza rolls. i'm talkig bout egg rolls from early 80s that looked like pizza bites. they had to of been jacked hardcore with MSG for me being 4-5 yrs old enjoying em and still craving em 40 yrs later. lol
Swanson did NOT invent the TV dinner. They invented the name. The TV dinner was around for at least a decade sold nationally before Swanson even got into the market.
I haven't been able to find blueberry or raspberry toaster strudel in quite a while, either. Also Patio burritos were another cheap favorite that isn't made anymore. 😒
I used to get boil in bag meals meat and gravy in a little bag you boiled. I would buy at least 10 a week.
They were soooo good!!!! I remember them. My mom would make them for our lunch pre me going to school.
@@amyosgood6044 2 slices of toast in the black iron skillet and pour it over. Yummy yummy 😋
Pudding pops were Great
Push ups did not come out in the eighties. I grew up in the late sixties and seventies we had them during that time. We used to clean the cardboard parts and shoot different objects out of them
@Sue Darling, I was thinking the same. My school back in the sixties was grades 1 thru 12 and we had a small room fixed up with freezers to store ice cream treats (different flavors and styles) where we could buy them for a dime. Push ups were one of the items sold but do not remember the brand name. So yes, they were around way before the eighties.
I loved pudding pops!
Banquet fried chicken on the bone. I like bone in fried chicken. It's REAL FOOD.
They still make it! The pieces are smaller, go figure and the price is HIGH? I can find fresh fried chichen I don't have to cook for less.
@@paultaylor256 for real. Sad ain't it?
I remember almost catching my kitchen on fire as a kid with a breakfast kid cuisine meal. It was supposed to go in for 45 seconds but I mistakenly put it in for 45 minutes.
I miss the complete breakfast meals that some companies had. Now I don't see them at all. Those were so good to have no matter the time of day.
A lot of these products are gone because the character they were based on isn't as popular anymore. There's still pudding pops, they just don't have bill cosby on the box. There's still mac and cheese tv dinners, they just have the penguin on the box instead of Spongebob.
The brought pudding pops back for a while, but they haven’t sold them for quite some time.
I miss Freezer Queen Boil-N-Bags. I used to live on them when I moved out on my own.
Hungry man dinners are larger than the original dinners. Unlike many of you I was eating them in the 60’s.
We miss push up pops at the beach.
Ohmigosh...Jello banana pudding pops were DA BOMB!!!
I miss Downyflake Waffles----Especially the Blueberry !!!! The package said "loaded with vitamins and minerals" and I swear I could taste them and they tasted great :) :) I ate them thorough out most of my pregnancies' for breakfast , But now their gone and I hate EGGO 🤬
Ohhh Downyflake was a staple in my house,so buttery and tasty! 🤭😊
is it just me or something else but growing up in the 2000s i've never seen Choco-tacos in any store until around the 2010s
They were sold in Choco's restaurants prior to that.
I can’t believe they failed to mention Patio, El Charrito or any other Mexican entrees.
Loved the Libby land TV dinners!
"remeber when the frozen food section was filled with tasty body parts?"
umm WHAT?
I miss the Tyson frozen chicken dinners! I don’t think they lasted even a year, but they were great. The Chicken Marsala was good, but the Chicken Piccata with broccoli and red potatoes was great!
Flintstones push-ups were my favorite
As a kid, I used to open my Libby Land TV Dinners just to remove the drink mix. My Mother would later have my drink only water with the dinner later.
Same!
Eggo waffles came out in 1953. I doubt there were Carebear waffles before that! 😜
there's also a company out called State Fair and they had a breakfast dish called the incredibagle which was a bagel stuffed with egg sausage and cheese I got upset when they took it away and called up to complain and they finally said they're not making him anymore
The only flavor of toaster strudel I can get around here is apple or strawberry and that's why I buy pop-tarts
I love the Danish toaster strudels
Mkids fav childhood memory in 90's was TGIF on ABC Steve Urkel
Ha Ha and eating their Kids Cuisine on their TV trays 😃👍
Boston Cream Pie and Pudding Pops were both favorites/pantry staples of mine! Lol
Great God do I miss Marie Callender's restaurants in California! OMG!
There's still some left I've seen
I agree! I live in Orange County and there are two Marie Callendar’s restaurants still open. One in Costa Mesa, but I can’t remember the other one right now. They are actually owned by people and not part of Corporate.
@@lorrainegreen6782 OMG thanks for letting me know to look. I come to OC all the time and never even thought to look! I’ll be there next week! Thank You!!!!!!!
@@emacias1473 I had no idea! Thank You
@@A22DNAL happy to help. I was telling my family about the number of replies about MC. We ‘googled’ MC and were shocked to find there are several MC restaurants listed. The one in Costa Mesa is no longer listed, but there’s one in Fountain Valley, which is close to me. When you’re here next week check it out!
Le Menu was one of my favorites.
i wish stouffers would bring back noodles romanoff
This is exactly the comment I was going to make! It was very tasty, and the "copycat" recipes that you can find online don't quite replicate the original.
Bring it back! Think about it all the time
9:20 another Wall’s product called Viennetta sold under Breyer’s around for a year when appeared on store shelves in 1994. Good Humor recently returned that product in early 2022 but is sparsely distributed so good luck finding it! You know, dairy lasagna? Funny Feet fruit snacks in the cereal aisle, were great for school lunches. Also notice the Iceland Brand invented Splenda because it is the same logo!
There was a frozen food truck that sold Viennetta close to home at Pennsylvania. My mom put orders every month. I loved them.
The latest version was a disappointment.
I just saw it today at Fred Meyers.
Don't get the new version of Vienetta. Its a gummy disappointment.
I can't remember the brand Name but it was called Snak N cake
(Chocolate Chip or Apple Spice) pour mix into a 8x8 baking pan add 3/4 cup of water
mix & bake 25 min. I could eat that whole cake in one sitting 🤩🤗
Ore Ida Crispers. Miss them terribly!
All I noticed was Swanson pot pies disappearing when the pandemic started. I remember pudding pops. Those were so good.
I still eat a Marie Callander Chicken Fried Steak every few weeks for lunch. Very tasty!
Marie Callendar use to make a frozen deep dish peach pie that you baked. It was delicious and tasted and looked like homemade.
My mil even thought it was homemade.
I miss pudding pops. The recipes aren’t the same. They used some sort of stabilizer . A way to keep them from becoming glassy. Or it’s the deep freeze process. Not that I have thought about it that much.
I remember On-Cor frozen Veal Parm patties. DELICIOUS!!! I'm soooo bummed you can't get them anymore
BRING BACK #CHOCOTACO!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
LOL That's for the fat kids who can't get enough to eat.
What happened to Dutch Apple Pop Tarts ? 😅
Anyone remember those Nickelodeon popsicles with the green slime in the middle?
Funny how what seems to be the most popular food items, are now hard to find or no longer exist. Bring them back!!!!!
I miss Buried Treasure ice pops that were sold from ice cream trucks, after the ice cream was gone you had a collectors plastic stick in assorted shapes, a real 2 for 1!
I loved the bbq ones !
When I was a kid there were these milks that came in glass bottles and they were so creamy and good and tasted like a milkshake, the strawberry and chocolate ones were so good, but they were sold at Lucky’s Market which went out of business around the country but no one talks about it
Lucky’s was popular in my town because we don’t have a Whole Foods but I guess it wasn’t popular anywhere else so it kinda collapsed
They should really bring back the libbys one it would go over great today
I LOVED Push ups pops they were delicious 😋 😍
Popsicle used to sell sugar free "red" pops (cherry, strawberry and raspberry). I liked the raspberry in particular. But it was a limited run.
My mom used to buy them push-ups all the time. I went through them fast so my mom went to just a carton now and then.
I miss the Marie Callender's original comfort bake mac and cheese. It was THE BEST mac and cheese I've ever had. Better than homemade, better than at a restaurant. It was so delicious. Then one day they changed the recipe to make it cheaper. It tasted nothing like the old one. I tried it a few times over the years in case it was just a fluke or in case they brought the old one back. Nope. So sad.
Up in Canada, we have "hungryman", as well as "Swanson" tv dinners... Though they are basically the same, but different
Man I forgot about that herb roasted chicken
I'll say it, instant pudding killed the cooked pudding, people try instant and don't realize that the flavor of the quick grainy flat flavored instant can't hold a candle to the cooked version (easy in the microwave,) I've heard people say it's lumpy, just add milk SLOWLY to keep it smooth. It tastes 200% better.
BREYERS VIENNETTA DAG GUMMIT!!!
Wow. That is a throwback!
Omgggg for years I looked for these...and earlier this year found them at dollar general. They sell them now I guess. I definitely bought one and it's still amazing lol
@@TheDevilisAskirt 🤣
Saw it today. Try your local Kroger.
Claim Jumper pies, esp. the blackberry and blueberry varieties. Miss 'em.
Banquet use ti make frozen beef and turkey in a frozen punch you boiled in water and served over bread they were the best
Claudia Regalado had a recipe for the Choco Taco.
I grew up in the sixties and we had push ups
Mothers cookies , variety pack -animal cookies, chocolate chip , I think they were vanilla cookies and the fudge cookies were the best ❤ from what I have researched the company was sold off and the variety pack bag was discontinued.
My kids loved the waffulls. The strawberry.
Euh...half of those supposed disappeared products are still available in Canada...so, it disappeared from the American shelves?!? 😞
Push ups, Marie calendar’s where the best.sometimes when it’s time for things to go,a lot of people don’t like it.
I feel like partly why some of these frozen foods have fallen out of favor is in the rise of health consciousness among consumers since the internet.
Sweet and Sour Pork. Completely disappeared. Used to be the only Marie Calendar’s Frozen Dinner I bought. No replacement from anybody else.
Swanson egos and jelly-o was my favorite
