I was OBSESSED with the arriving to L.A. scene as a kid. Obsessed. I re-wound the VHS 1000 times (remember VHSs?). It was the combination of seeing "Los Angeles" and Patti Labelle's voice. At that point, I had never seen or heard anything like this. This movie is ICONIC.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and recognize some locations in old films shot here. So, at 3:22 as he exits the car, that's NOT Beverly Hills, it's actually Downtown Los Angeles on the backside of the famous Biltmore Hotel (built in 1923). The majority of the hotel sequences were done at this location. At 3:45, this is the interior of the Biltmore Hotel, which still looks like this today, with a few minor adjustments. The hotel has been used in many, many movies, music videos and television shows because of it's old school style. The original "Ghostbusters" hotel scene was filmed there, the final dance scene from "True LIes" and many more. The check-in booth in the scene with Eddie Murphy here is still there, though this section of the Hotel, no longer serves as the lobby because after 1984, the lobby was moved to one of the upper levels. Today, this area is just a gathering space for customers of the cafe, which you cannot see (it's off-screen). Pay very close attention to the ceiling design with Eddie walking in, then watch near the end of this music video featuring Jennifer Lopez, she'll be standing on a balcony facing the camera....behind her is the same room Eddie Murphy steps into (but it's a reverse angle)...see here > czcams.com/video/LryQJ25CnKU/video.html.

I’m a cop. Anyone know the reason Inspector Todd orders him to have his head checked out at the hospital? He insists that he goes and gets his head looked at because he said
*_”#2:_*_ A Professional Hit, _*_#3:_*_ at a Cop’s Apartment…”_ the medical report stating that the wound on Axel Foley’s head being consistent with him being unconscious at the apparent time of murder would be Foley’s Alibi & rule him out as a suspect Inspector Todd won’t officially let Foley near the case because he KNOWS Foley’s not going to keep himself out of the investigation. Inspector Todd is protecting him, that’s also why Inspector Todd vouched for Axel when LT. Bogomil called him. And that’s definitely what happened, that’s why after LT. Bogomil talks to Inspector Todd, he says “Forget about what you can prove, what do you have?” & the whole thing about Coffee Grounds comes up & SGT Taggert says _”Yeah, You said something about that before…what does that mean?”_ & LT. Bogomil explains “Drug Cartels are known to pack their drugs in coffee grounds…the scent throws off the dogs”. This movie paints a beautiful picture that older, seasoned veteran cops are in important high ranks for a reason…

If you're motivated, you can do it in about two days assuming an overnight stay. I drove from Connecticut to Chicago and it took about 14 hours. That's about 40% of the trip

I've lived in both the LA area and in Ohio about an hour south of Detroit most of my life, and I've driven or ridden a motorcycle between Ohio and LA many times (last year was my 20th time) over the years by almost every route possible just to break up the monotony. By the most direct route to BH from Detroit it's about 2300 miles. If you can average 75 mph - that's tough to do with traffic, weather, etc - it's about 32 hours of road time. Add on any stops for gas, food, sleep, whatever. HOWEVER, Axel's trip at the time this move was made (1984) would have been during the days of the national 55 mph speed limit, which was in effect from the mid 1970s - mid 1990s. Trust me, it took a LOT more time to make that drive back then. It was like being in a construction zone the whole way. 2300 miles at 55 mph is about 42 driving hours, plus whatever stops you have to make.
