Here are a couple of tricks I learned along the way. To remove the pump without the fancy tools, two of the extension housing bolts will fit the threaded holes in the pump, then you could use the J end of a pry bar, or if you have a claw hammer you can pry it out working each side up a bit at a time. I always build all my sub-assemblies up first, then load up the case, so one of the last things I do is the pump. I place the pump upside-down in the case to align it, I hate pissing with the hose clamp. Then you use the stator support as a handle to lift out the pump. I have better tools now, but when I started out, I worked with what I had.
