Went to Blackpool with my parents in the early 60s. It rained every day but we went to a different show every night for 2 weeks. Blackpool was a wonderful place back then. Now it’s all Stags and Hen nights

I used to go to Blackpool as a kid with my parents a few times, we used to alternate year by year. I think though, Blackpool seemed to have the most theatres of anywhere we went to and there were always top acts and stars of the day on everywhere. We always went to a show somwhere when we went. And, as a kid Blackpool was a wonderland, so much to do, it was probably the best resort then to holiday in. I haven't been now for many years, but looking at video's on CZcams, it's just not the same. Summer seasons for stars don't exist nowadays unfortunately ... plus, there aren't that many so called 'stars' you'd want to see nowadays. Lovely video though. Oh, and R.I.P Ken Dodd, miss him.

I saw Ken Dodd in Blackpool as a young boy (8 or 9) with my parents and sister. It was the big night out on our holiday and we loved it, he went on for ever. Happy memories.

This was when showbiz had Stars! I'll never forget that 79/80 season, it was a town full of ladies as well as the men wearing Red 'Rock on Tommy " braces. Canon and Ball loved their audience, nothing false about them at all, they were in hindsight not aware how famous they were, my parents had a hotel near Woodfield Rd, and there was a lot of great bargain shops, fish n chips, I'll never forget waking in the chippy that was one of Backpools best, just can't recall it name wise, it was close to the old Lifeboat station, who was sitting In, Tommy n Bobby, I was starstruck, but within a few seconds of I'm guessing they got used to it, they said to the lady something like 'give him a Cod' with his chips, I'd asked for (many used too those days) Scraps, bits of Batter, I saw that show 6 times that season, if my nan could get lucky in securing 2. I bought their album, and it had all the great oldie sketches on, but Tommy Cannon when he sings *He ain't heavy, he's my brother " if you've never heard it,, check it out, all the stars in this has give me years of happy times, great video, thanks, Rock on Tommy

Yes Darran I agree with you about Cannon and Ball they were as natural off stage as on stage. I met them in Plymouth in 1999 and to my amazement they were soon chatting to me as if they had known me all my life there was no arrogance or looking down on me which I was astonished at because I have always thought stars would be impossible to talk to.

I was an apprentice electrician (in Chester) in 1970's we would stay in a guest house in Blackpool for a week, every year, to c/o maintenance at helsby brickworks. A scene from hell. But Blackpool was probably still in its heyday, full of atmosphere.

Love Blackpool, went as a kid, had family at Starr Gate area so know it well. Some things have changed over time, tower bit expensive now which is a shame, as an adult mid 90's were the best for me..the Palace club was just the best at the time, mitre pub and had some good nights at Joey B's north pier..good entertainment (he's lush x), been out for comedy nights, musicals at the different theatres, nice chilled evening meals out, pleasure beach, shows, value for money places to stay...…..Blackpool is in me blood x Thanks for the vid Jack!

Precisely the point being made in the show, it needs Money spending on it big time....it could be terrific and has the potential even today. Upgrading the seafront and the comedy carpet is a good start, but it needs to attract families that will spend...not just hen and stag parties. Having spent many years on hols or weekend visits over the years, I'm not ready to write Blackpool off.

Yes the problem is the town is far to big and that’s it’s downfall it should be scaled down and it would be far better..170:000 people is a lot of people to find jobs for and has a major problem with unemployment

I’ve just been looking at videos of Blackpool as far back as 1936 through to the 60s and that was definitely the real Blackpool not like it is today an absolute shithole,I lived there for 6 years and in my eyes it was 6 years to fucking long.
Look back at the old videos and see the difference of them videos to today’s videos and you will see a massive difference to how it once was to the shithole it is today

    Covid-19 will change Blackpool.
Flights to the sun will be much more expensive.
Cruises [Butlins with the prospect of drowning] are completely out.
So it's a STAYCATION and where is the best place to go? BLACKPOOL
What a shame we don't have any comedians like Ken Dodd any more ?
