Something I have to give this movie props for is addressing the very real issue of female on female sexual violence. This so easily could've been portrayed as something "titillating" or "erotic" but was instead presented as predatory and violating (as it should be). Sexual violence is a crime, regardless of the sex of those involved. Also, Jena Malone and Elle Fanning were great in this movie. Both are very underrated actresses IMO.
It's obvious Ruby wanted her from the start. Just wasn't expecting her to team up with the other two models and do what they did to Jesse. Crazy ass movie.
I honestly think she teamed up with the other girls because Fanning's character wouldn't sleep with her. So if she had slept with Malone's character would she have survived?
Pretty disturbing scene. Up until this scene, Ruby seemed to be looking out for Jesse. I thought Ruby was the only friend Jesse had in that industry. But no. Ruby was just after her beauty like everyone else was. Jena Malone stole the movie honestly. Great performance.

@@neonangel2687I believe it’s some sort of ritual and she did it in front of the moon. The moon plays a symbolic role in this film. Jesse says it’s like one big eye, watching her. This is also foreshadowing two things; one is her death and the fact that when she looks up as she is dying, the moon is no longer there watching her. The second is when Gigi regurgitates Jesse’s eye, like she is watching her / rejecting the manufactured body instead. The moon also plays a big part in witchcraft and Rubi is a witch (it’s revealed when she is watering the plants and washing away the blood, she has occult tattoos). So my interpretation is that she is releasing Jesse’s blood in some sort of symbolic ritual. Also could potentially be a literal version of the phrase “chew you up and spit you out”
I actually thought Ruby cared about Jesse. She seemed concerned about her and it was like she wanted to protect her. But it was just selfish obsession. Like the other girls.
This moment of the film perfectly shows how a person climbing the career ladder begins to lower others. Jessie, by refusing her, automatically created an enemy for herself. From love to hate ...

Men always get a bad wrap with the word no regarding sex but I can almost guarantee if a girl started touching and coming on to a guy and if he said no I bet she would laugh giggle whatever and keep going, it's extremely common as it's seen if a women is ready to do it a guy automatically is too and if a girl was to actually stop when a guy said no or stop I bet she would either start questioning why or saying because he doesn't find her attractive and then proceed to make fun of his junk or something but had it been the other way around the guy is expected to stop and understand and not question her. Logic is fun when it's stupid
