Lions and tigers have to eat meat to survive. We humans have a choice in the matter. As for animal sacrifice, there is no reason why an infinitely powerful God would benefit from the activity.

    • @MathematicalCowboy
      @MathematicalCowboy Před 2 měsíci +2

Yep, I agree with you. I can understand why ghosts, ghouls, vampires, werewolves, and witches require blood for survival or for doing magic, but why would God require a few spoonfuls of blood from a sacrificed animal? Doesn't make much sense to me. As for humans having a choice, that really depends. A lot depends on geography. For example, the Inuit who live near the Arctic Circle simply can't survive on a vegan or vegetarian diet. They live in a totally frozen world. Their diet is very high in animal proteins and fats. They eat salmon, caribou, bears, elk, etc. With all the snow and ice by the arctic circle there's no way that those people are going to plant crops of pineapples and coconuts. It's not realistic and not practical. Also, please remember this. Hunters and fishermen in traditional societies work maybe about 20 hours per week, leaving plenty of time for other activities, such as art, music, storytelling, raising and teaching children, keeping written records, exploring neighboring tribes and villages, etc. Farming is actually EXTREMELY HARD WORK, and in traditional societies farmers often work 60 hours a week or more, leaving much less time for those activities that help to advance any civilization. If all human beings had been vegan from the beginning of our species, we probably still would not have discovered penicillin and the other antibiotics! Science, math, engineering, research, art, music....all these endeavors require a tremendous amount of time. If people are constantly farming and cooking, planting, sowing, etc, that leaves way less time for doing the things that need to be done in order to help civilization progress. I had lunch once with a vegan friend. Wow! All he talked about was food. After lunch, we visited a Barnes & Noble bookstore. He ran over to the Culinary section and spent a lot of time looking through books on cooking, diet, nutrition, etc. The guy had a serious obsession with food, and I've noticed this with many or even most vegans. Food preparation consumes a huge amount of their time. To me that's insane. Before I retired I was a math and computer science professor. That took a great deal of time. Now that I'm retired I spend a lot of time with my two dogs, and I'm also learning the Russian language. Honestly, I can't spend my whole day worrying about FOOD. This obsession with food is really a problem with vegans. I've got better things to do with my time than constantly worry about whether or not it is moral to eat the food on my plate. Oh, and that's another thing. Most vegans believe it's a sin to keep animals as pets. I've had dogs and horses my whole life! I'm not giving them up! This is yet another crazy obsession that vegans have.

God didn't necessarily need the blood of animals, I'd say it was more for people to understand, symbolically,
      1) about sacrifice and that it costs you something. Losing an animal means a lot more than say losing money which someone could give away with no attachment
      2) that when you do wrong something innocent pays the price / dies. Similarly, if we physically die in with our sins unresolved and we haven't been made right with God, there will be a much larger price to pay later, spiritually. Sin causes loss and death(loss of life, joy, peace, goodness, love, etc), that is the penalty. On this earth, some wrongdoing can cause you to go to prison for life or sentenced to death. Hell is similar, separation/isolation from God, and since God is the source of all goodness, being separated from God (the source of all goodness, life, energy, joy, peace, happiness, ability, love, etc) is hell

Humans self-inflict problems and then highlight their own inventions to solve those problems as some grand discovery. Since the beginning of time, all animals are "obsessed" with food, that's what their life revolves around. Only humans see it as some type of obligation, because they are removed from nature. You want to talk about hunting and fishing? Go back before modern tools and you'll realize how long it takes to hunt or catch enough prey to feed your family/village. And how are antibiotics some type of thing we needed to discover when it's only necessary due to the diseases we have self-inflicted by eating the wrong foods in the first place... Or why are pain killers necessarily when people aren't at constant conflict over pride and ego because they are removed from nature. Your thinking is backwards and very surface level, you analyze symptoms rather than root causes. "I have better things to do than spend my days in nature" - modern men riddled with modern problems, thinking their symptom solving is the solution.

    • @UncleIroh-cc8vj
      @UncleIroh-cc8vj Před 20 dny

It's not about vegan vs carnivore. It's about humans being unable to analyze where their problems stem from in the first place. Most solutions would not even be necessary if associated problems were not first self-inflicted by unnatural living. Remove all subjective variables and additions and ask yourself what you'd like to eat? I doubt it's raw unseasoned meat and fish. Just be honest with yourself. Cooking and flavor combinations are the true obsession and addiction of mankind. We mask things behind processing and additives to hide the fact that we wouldn't want it in its natural state.

There is no need for sacrifice. It was added to impress our own selves, our own conscience so we would feel the magnitude of loss of a beautiful precious sentient being which we were guardians of, which we led to green pastures and watched in fondness, play and grow. With the sacrifice of the animal as a substitution for our guilt of sin, God apparently accepts it because it hurt us to do this, to cut it bleed it unto death. I suppose because we once had a closer connection with nature, it meant something to us, impressed us but today animals are not loved, are abused and disrespected, tormented in settings of crowded living quarters and it's just a desecration to God and his planet what we do to these dear animals today.

Is it? Don’t they cut their throat?
I’ve killed animals before with a knife. In all circumstances it was the terrible and my heart hurts to this day but a far quicker option in a terrible situation. If you live in the wild you will see that a knife is quicker then other horrors out there. Eg the baby bore being played with by dogs. Slowly terrifying it, chasing it for 10 minutes. Cornering it and playing. biting off it’s foot and eating it while the baby pig lies screaming. Better to intervene and execute this baby animal before such happens . Just saying that’s been my experience
Now if the slaughtering is purposefully hurting the animal that’s awful. But it’s not supposed to be hurt. The sacrifice is not the pain or suffering it is the death and eating of the animal.
I don’t do such but to be fair from what I read in the Bible it was not about producing pain or suffering like in “some” pagan forms of sacrifice

Many kinds of animals are as quite toxic to eat as some green plants. So we have to know and kill the non toxic ones that we need to eat. I understand you. I really like animals too and I almost became vegetarian.
Then I came across cases where people were seriously injured due to lack of B12, for example. A propper meatless diet requires strategy and suplements, it's costly and just not for everyone.
I also learned that although no cow is on your plate many snakes, spiders, birds and thousands of different animals were killed in order to create the space needed for planting your bananas or apples.
      They burn the area, sometimes.
Plus, killing for eating does not equal suffering for the animal. Don't think the lamb I eat would be better off in the wild. It deppends on a bunch of factors.
So, basically, I don't believe humans were built not to eat meat and animals still die unless you buy crops from very specific places. On the other hand, mixing growing animals and growing plants can be benefitial because the animals fertilize the land.

But there is no escaping the horrid weirdness of nature, even as a vegan. Plants eat nutrition from dead things and waste products and fluids from animals. the best natural fertilizers for plants are bone, blood, dung, etc, dead insects make up a majority of plant food. Plants are also living things and the parts we eat of plants are usually reproductive organs. So when you eat plants you are still indirectly eating the grossest parts from animals.

      No Religion is universal.
Therefore, God cannot be religious. A religion that is centred on a particular ethnicity is ethnically biased ( racist ) and a religion that not only allows but DEMANDES the killing of other brings is barbaric and primitive.
Veganism is universal because it is based upon the principal of RESPECT for all life.
      God is life.
To respect life is to respect God.
The god of the Torah is not God. There is a God, but the universal God is not and cannot be religious.
The universal God is an evolutionary force of progress and is helping us move forward from being primitives worshiping with blood sacrifice, to empathic and compassionate beings who are interested in the elimination of suffering.
YAWH and El were cannonite pagan gods that become one biblical god, El is Saturn hence the command to worship on the Sabbath, Saturn-day, Saturday, or Sabado in Spanish...the planet Saturn is seen by dark magicians and occultism as the phisical representative for time, entropy, and the material universe--- in other words, Satan. Satanists offer blood sacrifice also. In the oldest book of the Bible, Job we see that Satan works for god and Job worships this god with animal sacrifice. I am not saying all Jews even know that Judaism is Satanic, but it is a religion derived from satanic paganism.
I am not antisemitic, being Semitic is fine by me. I am against the religion, not the ethnicity.

R' Friedman, first and foremost, I appreciate your many talks about traditional family values within the Torah community, and exposing the erroneous, and antisemitic Christological claims, doctrines and dogmas created by the various flavors of Christianity.
Secondly, I do not have a problem with animal korbanot (aka: offerings) in the Tanakh, especially when the supplicants get to eat the majority of the cooked meat. In fact, when I imagine the numerous animal offerings occurring within the confines of Har haBayit (aka: the Temple Mount), I think of it as an incredible place to eat holy BBQ. The aromas of roast lamb, must have been awesome.
Although personally watching / hearing the animal getting it's throat cut would not be easy for me, as I've seen people slaughter animals that way, and I always felt squeamish.
Having said that, most atheists do NOT deny the existence of "God". Rather it's that religious apologists cannot emphatically / demonstrably prove that a God, or gods exist.
However, ignoring the existence of a divine being, the other problem for religions - at least the three Abrahamic faiths - is the claim that their bibles / scriptures are the recordings / transmissions of utterances of 'the Divine', or at the very least, that what is written was inspired by "the spirit" of the Divine.
And then there are problems within the religious texts themselves, with things that do NOT comport with observable, and/or verifiable reality, and that there is little to no verifiable evidence for many pre-Davidic historical narratives within the Tanakh (aka: the Hebrew scriptures).
For example, the worldwide flood, or the Exodus. In fact, the emerging consensus amongst historians is that Canaanites = Israelites, and that essentially the "12 tribes" are just a faction, or subset of Canaanites that essentially had a territorial / tribal dispute within the area of the Levant, and that the story of mass slavery in Egypt, the plagues that resulted in freedom (essentially the entire exodus story), is a mere legend at best, or a deliberate gross exaggeration, or outright fabrication.
And finally, there are immoral instructions within the Tanakh, e.g.,
    - the permission to beat slaves severely, and if those slaves die after suffering for one or two days, Hashem says the beatings were kosher (Shemot / Exodus 21:20-21), or
    - that Hashem gave Israelites permission to own Goyim / Gentiles as slaves in perpetuity, and pass them as an inheritance to their [Jewish] children, (Yayikra / Leviticus 25:44-46).
    - or how about creative capital punishments like strangling a person, and then pouring molten lead down the throat of the condemned when their mouth involuntarily opens when they are gasping for air? However, it's a nice Talmudic injunction that the rope used for strangulation be wrapped in a soft cloth first. /s

    • @nomorecensoringme
      @nomorecensoringme Před rokem

Not true. What you call 'predation' is what G-d gave us to eat, to survive, to exist. In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve were probably vegetarian. For all of nine or so hours, after which they were put in our lower world. Eating animals came into being, for our existence being the perfection of Eden.
The 'sin' of which it sounds like you're condemning, was what G-d wanted and needed to happen. Adam and Eve were doing exactly what He wanted. This world wasn't meant to be "perfect" until we do the work to get it that way, meriting the coming of Moshiach, the Redemption and all of the winder to follow thereafter. Well then be with G-d here, in His perfect world.
Your idea of what our world "should" be like if we'd all just be that way isn't G-d's idea. His Vast Eternal Plan is what matters.

If there are some humans that feel it's wrong to eat an animal, is that not an aspect of God's grace extending towards the animal?
Perspectives are formed by different ways of cognition from different experiences in different circumstances. To say that one perspective is truth and everyone must think in the way "I" think, is to assert that you know the only way. Within any topic there is a circular approach that is evident. For the topic of eating animals, there is one point on a circle which represents the perspective that it is godly to eat an animal. On the opposite side of that point, that if a line were to be drawn from the first point it would be it's diameter, there is a perspective that it is ungodly to eat animals. Moving around the circle's circumference there are perspectives that vary between these two polar perspectives, each with different circumstances that shape those perspectives. God is within each perspective, because God is in each of those circumstances. God is in every person that has a perspective that is different from you. To serve God is to serve his creation, try not to get lost in justifying your actions by dismissing others.

I mean, if you're God and you have the power to create and destroy entire galaxies, then why do you really need a few pints of blood from a sacrificial victim. I understand why Count Dracula needs blood! I understand why vampires need blood! It's their food! Is God just some giant invisible vampire? Why does God need food? For that matter, why does God even need us to believe in him? If you're God, then you don't need anything at all, right? That's why I kind of hate religion. Religion doesn't make any sense to me. God is supposed to be infinite and eternal, and yet he is going to punish me if I don't sacrifice goats and rams to him? Why would I even want to worship a god like that? That type of god is actually pretty horrible to me!

It never ceases to amaze me, how humans can consider that they know better than God. The Creator, who is the owner of everything in the universe, commanded animal sacrifices and said that people may eat meat whenever they like, yet humans argue and claim that God got it wrong and they know better and deny Him what He has commanded. I suggest that those people do not read the Bible. Who is a man to tell God that they know better than He does. Know before who you stand!

The only question I can formulate to oppose this philosophy of eating meat, as a meat eater myself, is that yes it is fine that a carnivorous animal eats another animal as a matter of necessity. If we have come to a point where killing another animal is unnecessary to nourish us then is it really still the right thing to do? That is the pertinent question of today, this clearly was not the case when Judaism came about, but it is now. So... When is it the time to stop the unnecessary killing of animals? Is it up to the individual to decide if they can meet their nutritional needs without, or at least by reducing their consumption and ensuring they only consume animals that have been treated with respect and dignity (that is my aim, which I haven't had the resources or discipline for yet) but surely there will be a time when all animal consumption is considered unnecessary and therefore ungodly to continue. Any thoughts?

The rabbi was being specific… animal sacrifice was the focus. He didn’t seem to intend to address the entire connection of animals & humans. He briefly mentioned animals as food, clothing, or medicine. That list is not all inclusive. He could’ve added other connections of which animal companionship & service could be one. I’ve been vegan since the early 90’s. I do not eat animals but they enrich my life by being part of it. Service & support animals are another.
    I’m being brief here.
The rabbi said only what was justification for animal sacrifice. He didn’t go the whole route to justify anything else. It is much too involved of a discussion and so much is still being discussed of the rest. With the mitzvahs regarding animals and the kosher laws, it’s clear there is great love for animals. The commandment forbidding cruelty speaks volumes.

Because we are more sophisticated than animals, doesn't grant us the right to use them for food. Do a little bit of research on where meat comes from. There's no justification for the mistreatment of animals given the level of technology we enjoy today.
      God is Universal.
      No Religion is universal.
      Therefore, God is not religious.
      God is Life.
Respect for life is to respect the creator of life.
Being vegan is universal in principle as it is a philosophical world view based on respect for life.
Being vegan is both selfish and selfless alterisim. Selfish because you enjoy health benefits, and alteristic service because you are not contributing to the suffering of others.
I encourage you to move forward in your spiritual awareness and have more regard for the animals.

Sell? No. Give, in case you wonder? No. There are very specific detailed laws about what is done with each part of the sacrificed animal, for each kind of sacrifice.

Essenes do not partake in buying or eating altar sacrifices. They only eat fish. The idea gains popularity and ends what is left of animal sacrifice among Jews. This was back when the Christian movement was just a Jewish Reform movement. The Ebionites disappear about the Seventh Century CE. The Mandeans (followers of just John the Baptizer) live in Iran 🇮🇷 today.

In Greek animal sacrifice myth, Prometheus tricked the Greek gods by wrapping up and burning only the inedible parts of the sacrifice. Worshippers partook in the meal after. Especially seen in Dionysian myths.
Penthesus was killed by his own mother and sister for violating a secret ceremony by watching from a tree. The Greek gods temporarily blinded them so that they thought he was a (mountain) lion - cougar - both lost their minds afterwards.
Watch out for Greek ceremonies! The sacrifice of young boys, the Zeus sacrifice, was banned at one point and limited to only Naxos. It vanishes historically and reappears in Turkey (Anatolia) along with Dionysos, a foreign god. Records are not kept but human sacrifices later recorded in Phrygia. Defeated by Romans who went home in those days, it reoccurs under the Cilician pirates, who are active slavers. Mithras is the primary god. Reenactment of the Crucifixion of Atys is a yearly event occurring about the time of the Feast of Hilaria. (This coincides with Ishtar (Easter) and the Jewish Passover.
(You do see where I am going with this? Or at least suspect it)
The Last Supper of Mithras is where Mithras slay the Cosmic Cow and shares it with his Father God. Twelve Zodiac signs (Apostles) watch. Then Mithras ascended into Heaven to become
A Mdiator over Mortals. He often called the New Covenant.
Oh, in earlier ceremonies, where Atys is whipped then crucified, Atys, somehow after death, reincarnates as Mithras. Real people were whipped and crucified at one time but in the 1st Century BCE, after the priest slices his arms and fills the Blood 🩸 Cup, the Mithrans only whip and crucify a wooden effigy. Amazingly, this resembles an Easter Passion play. What a coincidcee-dinky!
Well, remember the Ascension. It doesn’t end badly for Atys because by the First Century BCE, it’s only
a wooden figurine hanging from a cross.
By the way, where is Self-Proclaimed Apostle Paul from? Tarsus, the religious capital of the Mithran faith.
So when dealing with historic accounts of sacrificed lambs, do remember it could be worse. You could actually be worshipping Mithras and his Dad while occasionally getting stoned on hyssop and singing about “I have the Spirit in Me”.
Dionysians, right? What they do on weekends!
