    If the card's value = X
    You multiply by 2, making 2x
    You add 2, making 2x+2
    You multiply that total with 5, making 5(2x+2)
    You subtract 7 making 5(2x+2) -7 or 5*2x+5*2-7 making 10x+3
    If the card's value is 5, with this calculation the total will be 53 and so on. You can add many calculations to confuse them as long as you keep the total you desired.

    in case you're wondering why it works: the equation at the end is "10x + 3" so it works .
    and as a cool extra lesson you can subtract 3 then divide by 10 and you will be back to your original number.

  • @ThomasMcGregor
    @ThomasMcGregor Před 5 lety +3

    What might make this even stronger would be to take out all the face and ace cards so they can select any. Another idea would be to move a “3” card to specific location say “third from the top” and reveal if after the math is done.
    Since all the numbers in the equation are single digits you could also make those numbers cards you “randomly” pick out of the deck. You could do a lot here with this. Thanks for posting!

  • @Shakirmd
    @Shakirmd Před 4 lety +7

    The best thing about this trick is you can select any card and it doesn't have to be 3 compulsorily. If you chose 3 you can subtract 7 in the end ...but if you select any other number like 6 then just subtract 4 , if 2 subtract 8... Just subtract the number to make the total 10.

    FYI: You could also do secret card value 2) times 2 skip steps 3 and 4 5) plus 5 then times 50 NOT 5 6) add 1 for Spade, 2 for hearts, 3 clubs, 4 diamonds. Magician takes calculator and knows because they secretly subtract the weight of Vin Deisel/ Dwayne Rock Johnson (250) Sounds crazy, but works.

    Fun effect. I'd make one suggestion. When you initially spread the cards, you spread them from your left to right, so the indexes are facing yourself. Consider spreading them from right to left, so the indexes are facing your spectator. If you prefer a left to right spread, spread them face down, then flip the spread face up, so the cards will then be facing the spectator. You want the spectator to feel the trick is for them, rather than watching you do the trick for yourself, if that makes sense? Just a thought. Thanks for sharing this effect.

    What I like to do, is the following...
    You take out all the king's queen's and jacks in front of the spectator. Afterwards shuffle the deck of cards, spread them in your hand (a few at a time, facing down oc) and let the spectator choose any random card, wherever (s)he says stop. Tell her/him that this is a prediction s(he) made for later. You give the rest of the cards another shuffle, mainly to distract the spectator and let him "forget" s(he) picked a card.. next you spread all the cards facing up in front of you on the table. Everything else is pretty much the same.. while your spectator is doing the math (you might wanna make the math a little bit harder) you have a look at the spreaded cards and figure out which one is missing (that must be the prediction). In the end you let your spectator subtract 10-x (X is the value of the prediction) instead of 7. That's all. It looks like the spectator has the magic power herself/himself.
    It is all about the presentation. If you tell her/him a good story while your performing that trick, (e. g. that you gave her/him superpowers or whatever), the spectator won't notice what your doing.. good luck.

    nice trick and we can make it even more interesting if by asking the spectator to chose any random card out of 1 to 9 for us aswell. that will create more curiousity in them.
    for rest of the numbers keep the calculation same till the substarction part. that is spectator card * 2 + 2 * 10 and then continue this
    if u have 1 then minus 9
    for 2 minus 8
    for 3 minus 7 as you said
    for 4 minus 6 and so on till for 9 minus 1
    hope u not get a 10 lol

The part about adding 2 makes sure that whatever number they pick, the final number will have the same 10s digits. It's semi-clever, but hard to see how anybody could be blown away by this.

    A trick performed in the hope that your spectator is not mathematically competent is not a good one.

    (2n+2)x5-7 simplifies to 10n+3, so of course the answer will always be 10 x the value of the card + 3. No magic here, just algebra 101. No offense, and I know you probably spent a lot of time making this video, but I'm just not that impressed with the math underlying the trick.
