Cold Chisel band consist of Jimmy Barnes - Lead Singer, Ian Moss - Lead Singer & Guitar, Phil Small - Bass, Steve Prestwich - Drums, Don Walker - Keyboard and main writer of their songs although they all contribute. Bow River was written by Ian Moss. David Blight - Harmonica has been playing with them off and on for many years. Steve died in January 2011 after they had started to write and record a new album, they decided to finish the album and asked Charley Drayton to join them on drums. I glad you have found Jimmy and Cold Chisel, there are lots more of their music to enjoy.
Mossy is a legend in this country, to me just as much as Jimmy!! We Aussies have been so spoilt for great pub rock music for all of my life and it’s what my friends and I did ever y weekend in Melbourne. So many brilliant live bands it was hard to decide which pub to go to to see which band! Was a great time to be alive here for music!!
Happy Birthday from South Australia! I echo everyone who suggested their rendition of 'Wild Thing' but.. I think you'd also really enjoy their live version of 'Saturday Night'. Enjoy!
I lovvvvvved your reaction to our most beloved Aussie rock legends! Please dive down the rabbit hole, you will be amazed! Happy Birthday! Listen to “wild thing” …that’s just mind blowing! Im subscribed, love your energy ❤️
So much great music in Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes catalogues. Can't wait to see what you do next. Maybe have a look at some earlier jimmy/cold chisel classics like Khe San or Shipping Steele....and work your way up to more recent times HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂
Belated Happy Birthday, my man. Hope it was memorable. This was immersive pub rock at its best. You'd stagger out of the gigs with your heads wobbling to the echoes of the band still in your brain. Maybe that was just me?
If i had to make a comparison to provide you a reference point as to just how important this band is to Aussies, it would be Bruce Springsteen and the Estreet Band, in that both make songs that are tied to their countries identity. Chisel have had 2 blossoming's. first one 1978 - 83, after which Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss had successful solo careers mid 80s into the 90s. than early 2000s Chisel reforms and been going strong ever since. Many Aussies regard them as significant as AcDc but without the global success. Every song is notably different in they do Blues, Pub rock, Australian folk and the odd Pub rock pop ballad. Recommendations - Flame Trees / Saturday Night / Cheap Wine / When the War is Over / Star Hotel / Khe Sahn.
Happy birthday mate. Cold Chisel has 2 lead singers the first guy is Ian Moss the guy on the guitar and then Jimmy Barnes. In different songs they take the lead usually it’s jimmy opening but in this one Ian Moss does
