    not many people know but the laser eye of a compact disc tends to deviate from the direction over time - just like in turntable headshell.
    resetting the laser eye in the device settings will simply reset the position of the laser to the original position - and thus the device will again operate as it did on the first day.
    this is why most devices have that reset feature on thei manual.
    sad to know that many have thrown away their devices for nothing because of this.

      I’ve kept the old marantz this replaced and using on a different system. It plays some disks just fine and others it refuses to. I figure it’s just out of alignment like you say but I haven’t taken the time to mess around with it.
      Good advice/info! 👍😎

      How do you reset the laser eye on cdplayer? Is it just the factory reset settting?

      @cappachino78 I have no idea, check the manual. You can look it up online with the model number of the cd player if you don’t have a paper copy.

    I bought this cd player before covid and inflation hit, I paid $130 for it. It’s a pretty nice cd player

    This is remote synchro cable. Plug it to your Onkyo amp amplituner and can operate CD player from amplituner remote control - no need for 2 remotes then.

      That’s actually a pretty cool feature but we’re using an ancient rotel pre-amp so it’s not compatible.

      I’ve had mine for almost a year and what you saw in the video was the only time it has ever skipped. It’s like it just needed to calibrate for its first disk and now it’s fine.

      I don’t know, the only time it has ever skipped for me since it was purchased was the first time I stuck a cd in it in this video. Ever since then with months of use it hasn’t missed a beat. Maybe yours is just defective, you should contact Onkyo and see if they have a warranty.

      I purchased mine about a year ago and, although it didn’t skip right out of the box, started skipping within hours out of the box. I’ve given this thing so many chances, I missed the opportunity to return it. One thing I’ve noticed is that it needs to “warm up.” If I play a cd right when I turn it on it will skip. If I leave it on overnight and play the same CD no skipping. I shouldn’t have to do this. It has ONE JOB to do. I started reading one star reviews of cd players and regardless of the price point, there’s always a review that says it skips. I read one for a $6000 cd player that skips. This is 40 year old technology that seems worse now than it was when it first came out.

      @@dmcbain44 that’s ridiculous I would send it back immediately if I were you, I’ve played mine for hours and never had this issue.

      EVERY CD skips after a while of use.
      All you need is just reset it in the settings. very simple.

    Mine works just fine. It actually played some of my cds that I can't play without any skips on my two older players. My question is don't you have any issues with overheating by stacking your cd player directly on top of your amplifier?

    • @mjrprojects9476
      @mjrprojects9476  Před rokem +2

      It’s actually on top of the pre-amp which doesn’t generate much heat. The amp is standing alone on the shelf below with plenty of breathing room. Also on a matter of semantics it’s not my stereo, I was just taking the opportunity to record a video.

    Hello.How is the sound of this cd player? Treble is soft, neutral or harsh?The bass is deep or just adequate?Is it warm sounding in general or cool sounding like many new cd players?Looking for a new one.

      @mjrprojects9476  Před rokem +1

      Like I said in the video I think it has a very crisp clean sound as opposed to the marantz I was using for reference. However I though the marantz may have had slightly better dynamics and an overall warmer feel. But honestly it sounds pretty darn good so I would say just buy it and try it out. If u don’t like it u can always send it back.

      @@k4589 our old marantz was made all the way back in 1995 and still goin strong till a couple of years ago, even then I’m pretty sure it’s just a little out of alignment which is why it sometimes skips. We only replaced it because we don’t really have a good stereo shop around here and just didn’t want to mess with the haggle or price of getting it fixed.
