It could be that you'll always be a subject and there will always be an object. In other words, we're always on the inside looking out, both in this life and after we die. There is no image retained but you'll always be in a subject object reality. It could also be that this is the only mortal subject-object reality and after dying you go to the immortal reality where the Buddha is.
