That “sorry” was 100% Fred trying to make Bill break
You mean hill?
old uncle Bill Hader
@@nebulousisgod ohhh
no it just highlighted how well he understood the dialogue... its a play on the fact that he can only do rudimentary talking... lol its making me laugh just tlking about the structure of the joke...
I think he said "say"
Kind of amazed Bill didn't lose it when Fred said "sorry?"
I watched this in the morning and was like meh, not their best. Then 6 hours later in the middle of work the "sorry" line popped into my head and I burst out laughing. I've been snickering about it randomly ever since.
awwwyeaboyeeee lmfao you could tell he wanted to! 😂
That’s why he had to do the lip lick 🤣
awwwyeaboyeeee I smile like a fucking psycho at work thinking about that one line. People think I’m a fucking lunatic.
Ikr? That shit was HILARIOUS!🤣🤣🤣
"this no joke, me never laugh again"
"Is funny me laugh again"
Hyacinth Miles best line!
I'll never not laugh at that line.
This line killed it!
This was the line that caused my light chuckling to become an out-loud, full laugh.
"he like gambler at casino
dead eyes
go about business
no clock on the wall"
That got me, that made me ROAR OF LAUGHTER
This is dangerously close to a haiku
😂😂😂 Gets me every damn time 😂
Brutus started the MeToo movement.

You totally heard it!
I know what that means
"I don't know I said a lot of stuff" LOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL
Lmao these comedians are so brilliant that it’s easy to overlook the fact that the SNL host HAS to keep it together and nail these lines or the whole thing falls apart. 😂😂
I love how the reporters' transition from shock over sexual abuse of Brutus to disgust over Jonah lying about being able to give him a baby.
Wth..do we have here..
Is this transphobic now?
@@herzfeldji no

The sigh and the "I don't know, I said a lot of stuff" is just genius. Peak comedy. Everyone can go home now.
😂😂
That one bit when Hader asks if he'd have sex with other monkeys, and Armisen/Brutis says: "Sorry"?, is so subtle and funny, making the whole ridiculous premise appear real. I don't know if that was add libbed, but that subtlety is genius. Just like the sigh you mention above. What a great cast. Don't think SNL will ever be like this again.
TheMonkeyMedicine
Peaks and valleys, my man. Peaks and valleys...like everything.
I loved that
It feels very much like something Tim Dillon would say. 😄
you can tell Armisen adlibs that "Sorry?", Hader's almost thrown off for a moment XD
Totally😃
@@AmmoGus1 but it is true that writers have changed scripts after rehearsal just to mess with actors
A B you’re stupid Fred wore a jacket for the short term memory loss theater and bill said he only put it on to make him laugh
A B don’t say anything if you don’t know what you’re talking about
A B they *facepalm bro just look it up they did ad lib to it armisen and hadder, both of them ad libbed lines cause he wasn’t supposed to have it on they came up with a couple lines, so there goes youre stupid “costume change” theory
"...not the WORST presentation I've ever had..."
I admit. That line got me.
After he says “sorry?”, Bill Hader does a little lip lick thing so he doesn’t break. 🤣😂
it was kinda cute
This has to be the most underrated sketch in SNL history.
I had no idea that was Fred Armisen doing Brutus. He was incredible! Even now knowing it’s Fred, I still can’t see him in the character. I truly felt empathy towards Brutus.
I loved how he improvised saying “Sorry?” when Bill Hader asked him a question.
I had to come to the comments to figure out who it was! Lol Fred was a guess though
So underrated!! “He sex me” I’m crying. 🤣🤣🤣
My first guess was Ben Mendelsohn
I could see Bill Odenkirk as Brutus.🤣
This has to be the millionth comment with the word Underrated.
LET IT GO ! ALREADY
3:30 "sorry?" ahahahaa that "sorry" made my day. genius. this sketch is awesome.

Quadruple like
Best line in the sketch.
😂😂 that was quick ! No lawyers no reporters not many sorry tweets !!!
Armisen saying "sorry" is one of his best SNL moments
No it wasnt
SNL is at its best when it's this twisted and f'd up.
You are a psycho
The episode with the Rock's evil robot was also like this
@@sigilvii YES. So good.
You mean when it is like MADtv?
The one where he-man comes to life is dark and weird too
That was surprisingly dark. lol
Poor Brutus. He just wanted a baby.
I spent 90% of the skit trying to see Fred armisen's face under that make-up.
I still cant
I saw it and it was 10x funnier lol beautiful sketch 😊
@@GreaserCentral His mouth looks just like always
It looks more like Robert Downey Jr. in makeup to me. I can't see Fred in there at all. Like trying to see Collin Farrell under that Penguin makeup in the new Batman movie.
Look in his eyes. He has wide, hazel eyes.
Fred Armisen Is the funniest guy ever on SNL. He can do everything. And he never trolls a scene, only compliments it.
are you 100% he's fred Armisen? I was about 60% but since you have the proper username I will accept that. The rest was either Kristin Wiig or Samberg
vzR Tz Look at his mouth. It´s Armisen.
Thanks for letting me know who it was.
Naw, Farley was the funniest
He does a lot but he isnt the funniest
Such a criminally underrated sketch, this was brilliant.
"I SAY THAT RAAAACIST. HE SAY NOT RACIST, IF IT TRUUU."

I'm Mexican and I couldnt stop laughing at this
@@DavidLopez-yt2yp I'm also a Mexican and I spilled my soda laughing at that part.
But I don't understand what he says before that!! Can someone transcribe?
Can't break the 777
Brutus sure learned a stunning amount of words.
There was a human in the costume, it was acting you know.
That raspy “it’s…ok for…science” at the fade-out slays me every time!😂
I love how he goes from denying it to just basically admitting it
well, it wasn't his worst presentation. at least people were watching- better than lots of academic presentations i've seen
Most underrated SNL skit.
Piyush Rose that’s what I just typed. I’m so bummed this wasn’t bigger.
@@BbGun-lw5vi It's not funny.
Jonah’s frustration with Brutus 😂😂😂😂 Fred’s hilarious!
That sketch was brilliantly written and Hill and Armisen were flawless in their performance. One of the best skits I've ever seen on SNL.
One of the best skits I've ever seen on SNL. Fred Armisen was perfect as Brutus down to the little details like the arm movement and constantly swaying up and down like a primate. He might not have been the funniest cast member SNL ever had but he was probably the best actor.
“Like” a primate? Humans ARE primates you fool. One of the great apes.
Ever seen Fred in the "parrot" sketch with Dratch and Liam Neeson? Brilliant physical comedy!!
"I don't know..I said alot of stuff"😆😆 Everyone may hate you Jonah, but I will always love you!
3:42. “He like gambler in casino” 😀
Should have said..."he like Jewish producer casting young boys."
This is definitely my favorite SNL skit, and it's by far the funniest. Fred truly deserves an award for his portrayal of a talking ape, it was flawless. The Planet of the Apes casting agents are probably kicking themselves for not asking him.
Watch Adam drivers parent at school sketch
“I don’t know. I said a lot of stuff.”
I remember watching this sketch live in middle school.
The hardest I’ve ever laughed to an SNL sketch.
Dude that make-up and Armisen's facial expressions are so good.
I have watched this skit probably around 400 times... and yet here I am again.
That "sorry" part OMFG made my day
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣"Make me say compliment.....Take me to hotel!"
This skit is so fantastic and just goes off the rails immediately.
Is that Fred Armisen? Awesome makeup!
that must be him
@DeadKing66 ur mom roflofl xDD
No, actually that is Ozzy Osbourne.
He still uses the same costume from the Bark at the moon era.
He doesn't need to change his voice either, he just slows it down to articulate a bit better.
This is not joke,
I will never laugh again. 😂
Go steelers!
Fred Armisen is such an amazing actor, and whoever did that makeup deserves an Emmy.
This is what im talking about. Where's THIS snl?
I know right! this is one of my all time favourite.
hidden away because liberals cant take jokes don't know what memes are and don't understand comedy
@@EmilyFanta69 this is fascinating in its detachment from reality. Tough week? Wait until the investigations begin...
@@EmilyFanta69 Where was there any mention of liberals in this sketch? Or even something they would be offended by? The truth is, this video and conversation had nothing to do with politics, but you made it political because you're so bothered by liberals that you're literally always thinking about them. In short, you sound triggered.
@@merlinthegray I think she means many in liberal institutions are often those who tout political correctness the most, and everyone these days is so damned sensitive, its hard to deliver comedy like that.
This is my absolute favorite skit I rarely ever laugh at anything Saturday Night Live but this has me crying
have you seen "Meet your second Wife"? also extremely funny.....Tina Fey brilliance.
Omg this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The way the ape seems to get incrementally more articulate and detailed is just a killer. But one thing that has always bothered me is when people use monkey and ape interchangeably. We are actually more closely related to the great apes that apes are to monkeys.
We are similar but are not really related to apes
@@deviction9314 what does “not really related” mean to you? Of course we are related.
Not only are we related to the (other) great apes, we are great apes ourselves. All species of the genus Homo belong to the family of great apes, and we are the only extant species of the genus Homo. Moreover, all apes are monkeys but not all monkeys are apes, that's the only reason for the colloquial emphasis on the claim that we are apes, not monkeys, but that doesn't change the fact that we are ultimately monkeys in a broader sense.
I can relate. I wish people didn't use "sapiens" as if it were the plural of something. That's not how Latin declensions. Besides, it's an adjective ('wise'), not a noun.
Close. We are great apes.
Can we just stop for a second and have a round of applause for the incredible make-up work at SNL. Truly top-notch in their field.
"aaaah I don't know, I said a lot of stuff..." The resignation in his voice is brilliant acting.
"this no joke. I never laugh again."
4:00 " this is no joke , i never laugh again " loooooooooool
Fred’s amazing in this and Jonah does a great job too. Great concept and perfect execution.
Jonah Hill is so freaking funny and talented... This is one of my favorite skits!
I've been missing out on this amazing skit for 10 years. So many genius lines. I laughed out loud at the absurdity of this guy taking a monkey to a hotel room 😂

I haven't laughed outloud to an SNL skit since the late 90's early 2000's. This is genius!
My thoughts exactly. Wow
The one where The Rock is an evil scientist is pretty fantastic.

I’ve been waiting for u guys to put this up again
The funniest thing they've done in nearly twenty years. This was beyond amazing. Like a live action South Park skit.
"This no joke, I never laugh again...." 🤣🤣
Never thaught a 'sorry' could be that funny
Lmao gotta love Jonah for doing this sketch
“I no addicted I scared” 😂
This might be my all-time favorite SNL skit.
One of best skits ever!
This is one of the funniest skits ever.
Because this joke is either too genius or too happily coincidental I go ignored I’ve got to point it out...
The first line ‘colleague, friends, members of the press’ is a reference to the Shakespeare play Julius Caesar in which the Roman leader Julius Caesar gets killed by a bunch of his friends, the most important (his bestie) being named BRUTUS.
A prominent moment of the play is when Brutus and Marc Antony (a politician who argues that Caesar should not have been killed) address the public on Caesar’s death. Brutus begins his speech with “Romans, countrymen, and lovers!” and Antony begins his with “Friends, Romans, countrymen”
In case you ever forget that deep down, screenwriters are theater nerds at heart
"Its okay... for *Science*"
Just the defeat in his voice....."I don't know I said alot of stuff...."
“It’s ok for science” lmfao😂
