    I know this is 2 years old but... I've been dealing with a bout of depression and have been binge watching garden videos and this cracked me up. Your puppetry is excellent. Its like...a childhood story....the Little Red Hen and her garden and this video is like her kid or something.

      Just finished my little setup I build the l.e.d lights myself and I use a reptile/snake heat bulb 💡 for warmth in there I'm doing avocado,chillis,apple trees,garlic,yellow beans and peas...make sure your light is warm white not cool white and mix it with a full spectrum purple light you will get great results mate you can buy the full spectrum cob light chips for a few pounds then you just need to add it to a heatsink basically a chunk off alluminium and then attach a p.c fan to help cool it they are 50 watt chips..hope your still growing n good luck

    I've had good results with two 100w led floodlights one is 6000k and one is warm white little tip they do get very hot to the point that the plastic light cover/lens begins to sagg I use a 5v usb fan to blow over the light and that can only be good for a longer lifespan of the LEDs in a confined space, great video the cheap route isn't always a letdown which is good for tight times.

      I'm betting the 100w led flood lights with heavier aluminum case or heat sinks would last longer than those 100w garage screw in led lights that resemble a flower head with adjustable pedals.....I heard many break after a couple months. If they made around a 6400k blue spectrum & 2400k yellow spectrum flood light. You'd have close to full spectrum. I'd add in a couple full spectrum fluorescent or FS cfl grow lights and You'd have a really decent diy grow setup. I found a couple old diy sun tan 💡 bulbs and fixtures at Goodwill than give off UV spectrum. They're like 250w, if you found one for cheap you could put it on a time to turn on for 15 minutes 4+ times in a 12hr light cycle to add UV spectrum. I wanna test to see if leaving the tanning bulb on longer will give better results.

  • @michaelbrinks8089
    @michaelbrinks8089 Před rokem

    Sorta the video I was looking for. I seen those 80 & 100 watt garage led lights that screw into a socket. But they love to break early....They're like 6400K spectrum (blue-ish color) which is good for leafy growth but not for flowering growth which instead prefers something like 2400k the yellowish tint.
    I was correct about LED grow lights 🚥 20yrs or so ago when they 1st hit the market. Many people made very false exaggerated claims about led grow lights. When I realized that it was possible to grow under LED. I suspected you needed 400w worth of the proper spectrums to achieve the same results of a 400w HID light aka high pressure sodium or MH. Just like you need 400 watts of compact fluorescents to achieve close to the same lumens & results as a 400w high pressure sodium.
    One thing I never considered was if CFL lumen output degrades over time like a high pressure sodium bulb does. If not than 25,000 lumens worth of CFL could last 10yrs 🆚 a 250w 25,000 lumen hps bulb dropping down to about 15,000 lumers after 3 yrs of use.

    I have been thinking of doing this for some bonsai and house plants but I will need something much more powerful, maybe have several in a room to sustain some plants, I do get some sun outside but not much of it comes into the house and I don't have any garden or outside space to grow plants/trees I will try see if I can get a solar panel powerful enough to save on the electricity bill, it be nice to have an indoor jungle.

    • @punkyroo

      This 200W light was enough... maybe too much! The problem with using a strong single growlight is that the plants near the edges will be sad. I am now using a series of small 36w LED panels Basically one for each large plant.

      When you remember that 100w incandescent light bulbs would have been pretty common in houses ten years ago, it puts it in context. Okay, not on all the time for the most part but having 400w of incandescent lighting in the family room for several hours a day wouldn't have been unusual back then. And yes, I'm talking about incandescent lights like they were whale oil lanterns.

    You can get a nice 240w quantum board on alibaba cheaper and it will have way better efficiency and spectrum. That spotlight is 6000 to 6500k so only good for vegative growth and I bet the cobs in it are cheap as hell. Just get a Quantum Board, way more light output and way better spectrum for less money.

    • @AntonGully
      @AntonGully Před 2 lety +1

      I can buy a 200w floodlight for about forty quid, sixty bucks or so, from Amazon UK. All that vegetative/flowering THC chatter is fine if you're growing weed but bonsai plants/chillies will do fine under modern white LEDs. eg old LEDs made white light from a combination of RGB LEDs, whereas modern white LEDs are probably from phosphor-coated blue LEDs. So an old white LED was uniform Red/Green/Blue with a third of the power going to each wavelength and the Green being largely (but not entirely) wasted. Whereas now a white LED has a much more complex spectrum that still looks white and is probably less Green than you think. Ultimately plants grow under white light in nature.
      Also, common household lighting is MUCH cheaper than dedicated grow lights, and even if the components aren't as good or the flood light doesn't handle heat as well it'll be much cheaper to replace than if a dedicated 240w Quantum light goes bad on you. I'd buy two 100w flood lights for even cheaper than one 200w and maybe chain a fan to a thermocouple power supply or whatever.

    • @punkyroo
      @punkyroo  Před 4 lety +1

      That depends on what your electricity rates are and the length of your lighting cycle per day. If you use the USA average of $0.12 and leave your lights on for 16 hours per day, you are looking at about $11 per month.
