• Cheap Aquarium Light.....

I have been testing same floodlight on one end of my 6 foot tank, I had it only a couple of inches above the glass but have had to raise it up to around 8 inches because I was growing a tonne of algae. The plants do seem to like it. Not absurd plant growth, but a manageable amount.
awesome to hear, mine are close as you can see, plants responding well, but might be too early for algae, thanks for the heads up
hey , so u r saying flood lights are okay for plants?
i heard that they dont produce the blue and red spectrum that plants mostly need?
I got a 300 watt led. equivalent to 3000 incandescent Watts, parking lot light. It's on a 50 gallon tank. I have it installed 3 ft above the tank. With tin foil as a shade to keep the light all shining into the tank. It is freaking awesome. it's like I have CO2 injection! all the plants are bubbling like crazy. I was having algae problems before that light but now the algae is getting scarce. So in my experience the more lumens and Watts the better. I had two Fluval 3.0 on it before. I'm never going back, this is making my plants grow like crazy.
Man that 4 foot looks wicked! Love the Blackwater look of it. MD does some wicked floodlight setups with brackets for his rimless 4 foot tanks and they seem to work a treat. Keep up the good work mate! 👍
Cheers Aidan, I'm not a big fan of thr black water anymore, I did like it but, not I want the plants to pop, just finished a video in fixing the tannins in a smaller tank and now I want to do it to this tank too.
Thanks for watching

I use flood lights I don't do plants so I can't say but with some good surfaces movement it makes incredible shimmer
thats true, i dont like the lid, but my wife wont prefers it over the naked tank look haha, thanks funk
I've been using them for a while to grow plants to sell. They work great in higher wattages. Just changed up to the RGB versions which come with a remote control, first impressions are they are really cool and you can play with 17 colour spectrums and they have a built in dimmer....
I will have to chexk them out too, i want have a tank to just grow out my plants so i can make more aquascapes without spending hundreds on planta everytime haha
So is the rgb version better after 5 months of using?

i have one that is 50 watt and is with a heatsink and it says it is halogen iodine
not sure what iodine means here
I enjoy these budget friendly minded diy vids
Haha cheap. Is good hope your well
@@aquamate yes I am cheap. Some people can't afford $300 lights. So this is a good alternative for those people like me
@@theshrimpcorner2467 😂, wow I just read that back, I wasn't calling you cheap, I meant cheap is good. That accidental full stop really made me look like an idiot

Me too thanks for pointing it out to me, get ready for an influx on your channel haha

They Grow slower than a full spectrum light but still grow@@sandidsaman7723
Awesome video Sir. 👍👍👍👍
Could you explain what one needs to look for when choosing flood lights for planted tanks? Also what max tank volume or dimensions that's best suited for these lights. Thank you for sharing.
So if you get lights with 6500 kelvins, you will have a better chance of growing lights, and probably aim to have .5 watts per litre, so im slightly under what would be ideal in this case 80 watts in 200 litres, if i had one more light it would be best.
Great video Thanks!
Thanks for watching Sandy
Any update on this? Not sure which video to check. Are you still running this setup? Any issues with algae?
I have 2 22w zetlight and have been struggling for years with plants. I just redid my substrate and am now thinking of adding 2 20w floodlights.
This is also on a 4ft tank
A bag of purigen in the filter will clear up the tannins mate 🌿
funny you say that, i put a bag in the filter two weeks ago, its not helping :(, was making a video on it so hopefully i figure out why, thanks pete
@@aquamate interesting as it’s always polished my water crystal clear
@@aquariumplantman i know i keep hearing good things, just hasnt worked in this case, the tank is not cloudy but as you can see still stained
