Same with my supplies. I was just inspired by Caitlin and started with just a pencil and a ruler. And now my table is full of colour pens, colour pencils, brush pens, oil pastels, sketch markers, etc.
@@PlantBasedBride if you switch off the steam setting on the iron it shouldn't effect it, that's why the cloth inbetween is very important and the low setting. Mine didn't effect it but if you want to be 100% you can always try to put the same ink on a different paper and test it on that first 😇❤

I moved to weekly trackers because the monthly trackers felt too confining and I don't refer to my monthly calendar every day. Now my weekly tracker is on my weekly page. I get to decide each week which habits I want to continue working on, which ones I don't want to track anymore. I love weekly trackers.
Yes to all of the above, including the cats. And stamps. When you find the perfect stamp but you either don’t put enough pressure on it so it’s missing half, or you put too much and it bleeds through the page.
I think the worst is when you set a spread and realize..is on the wrong page(for example, if you wanted a 2 page spread but forget and do something else on one page of that spread)

Yes this is the reality. When I prepare mine for my youtube channel same happens here. I think we all face the same problems while setting up the spreads of bullet journal.But you got the thought to share it with everyone. That makes you different. Thank you. Love it.
Two thoughts: Moment when you think, "Wow that looks easy" Then you forget you're not very good at drawing and it looks more like... well.. you an untrained artist did it rather than the instagram/pintrest/artist did and 2) that flower washi tape pattern is absolutely adorable. Love your real and honest take on bullet journaling :)
I don't do bullet journaling but I have sooo many sketchbooks for my drawing and evertime when I startet one sketchbook I want to left it and start a new one, because there are sooo many pretty sketchbooks I own
You know when you draw out everything in pencil you love it and then you go over it and it is perfect and you are in love...thinking it is your best spread yet. Then you pull out your eraser and start to remove those odd pencil marks...only to discover you pen is the kind that either smudges or the ink itself lightens when you are erasing. And this is after you wait an hr to make sure it has dried properly or so you hoped....and that perfect black title is now a weird grey. Which is why it not just necessary to pen test but also eraser and watercolour test the pen before putting it down. Staedtler pigment liners and Uni pin pens are some of my favs for the fact that they don't lighten on erasing and their relatively fast drying time. I know everyone loves the Sakura Microns...they were not available for a cheap price when I started bullet journalling and then I found that they don't have the same sizes as the Staedtler...which were my first proper set.

Omg the paper scrunch 😭That segment also reminded me of what happens to me far too often when I set up a spread in pencil and then go over it with pen; I put all that effort into making sure all my lines look good and crisp and then I don't wait long enough to erase it and the eraser smudges the ink everywhere lol. I wasn't going for the sfumato look but that's where we are now.
The Tombow tip will save my shaky lines (hopefully!)! I began bullet journaling this year on january and I found myself in every one of this "expectation vs reality" statements! It was nice to hear that someone with a 5-years experience has the same struggles, though! 😂 It motivates me to keep up this habit! 💪
I love this and feel this to my core. I adore your giant floofs. Mine does a wind up and dives onto my book, smudging the pen and folding the pages all in one go. XD He also loves playing with the bookmark.
Setting aside time on the weekend to Bullet Journal when you know your child is going to be occupied with his Lego/Duplo, and then your dear, sweet, precocious 4 year old can't leave you alone for longer than 5 minutes.
Omg I hate when the page folds while erasing. Even seeing your demonstration of it made my stomach clench. Also, once my dog sniffed my Bujo page and his wet nose smudged everything. 😫

I dragged my ruler across a page and it smudged the page. So I just added extra smudges to make it part of the lewk. Besides all the things you mentioned(except cats because I don’t have one), mine would be trying out something new. Like for my first setup for 2019, I tried to be quick and minimal and hated it so I ripped those 20 pages out and started again. Do what works for you people - that’s the moral of this story.
Oh no! I’m sad about the ripped pages but I totally get the feeling of wanting to start over 😅 and yes, the ruler smudging the pen is a common one for me, too!

Great video and something I learned was the size of your handwriting and amount of information you need in your BUJO. I kept “failing” and giving up UNTIL, I had a personal size TN in B6 slim size and within 1 day of setting this up it was ❤️❤️❤️ I realized that you can BUJO in a smaller size, unless I am not aware most do it in an A5, but that was wasted space for me and my book looked empty and mostly unused😱 when I downsize it worked for me. Also I do follow the BUJO format with future logs, etc and I could create that on a small scale and it’s working for me. The one thing I don’t have is the regular calendar but the one that has a line for each day often I do not have multiple entries and my personal life is kept separate from work could never combine the 2 together. So that was a way for me to overcome an expectation and I do minimal decorating as that is not my thing do use stickers or washi but keep it pretty clean😺
That’s such a great thing to discover!! I actually started in a small A6 size notebook and used those for a while before I moved to A5. Now I’m trying out a B5 and liking the even bigger size! We all have our own needs and catering our BuJo to those, rather than whatever is popular, makes SUCH a huge difference in the actual usability of the BuJo in our daily lives! 🤗

Yes exactly! It makes me sad when I see comments like that because we all make mistakes, and we’re all hard on ourselves! I never considered myself good at visual art (my sister was the artist/actor growing up, and I was the dancer/singer!) but over time, and with lots of practice, my skills are improving and my confidence is growing! If I can do it anyone can ❤️
No cats here. But plenty of children. Young (the youngest age 4) and old (the oldest 24). My youngest always manages to hang on the my writing arm when I am working on my journals. And the bigs (14-24) always want my attention.
My expectation for my bujo was to be like everyone else’s but not for me but reality is I never used it so I realized my perfect bullet journal is one for my job. So my planning is my job then my home life. Because I don’t have a set work schedule I have to plan the night before so I can plan home life AFTER my work schedule
In my weeklies I write all of our clients for the day and days to come during the week. On the dailies I divide one daily in half-work, and home. When my supervisor texts me of my schedule for the next day I highlight the clients name that is in the weeklies then I write the name of the client in the work section in the dailies and any details I need to write down for work that day. And obviously in the home section in the dailies I write appointments and any tasks I need to do for the day

Yes, to all you mentioned and more. I have consoled myself by saying it gives my bullet journal character. It's a weak excuse but I'm sticking by it. :)
When I started my Journal back in 2016 I planned and created spread after spread after.... not only did I not used most of 'em... I also penned my very first weekly upside down🤪🤪🤪. Also, dogs behave in no way better... every time I journal I get nagged for cuddles.... and if I do not deliver? Nose to arm pushes are not conducive to straight lines 😂
On the cat point, put one of those empty notebooks to use and place it open next to you while you work- I think its called mirroring but cats like to do what your doing or be with you while your doing it. That might help?

I have a suggestion for the erasing thing. Have you tried kneaded erasers? They don't need nearly as much pressure and bonus, they tend to smear ink less often. Also, I knew when I got into BuJoing that having my habit trackers separate from my weekly spread would mean that that habit tracker would absolutely NEVER get filled in, lol. So I have it on my weekly spread so that it is right in my face on the daily. :) I just moved into a new journal because I just finished my first one in May! :D
Oo great suggestion! I believe I have a kneaded eraser somewhere 🤔 Yes, definitely! The only annoying thing is having to set up a tracker every single week!

If you wrinkle paper put a cloth over it and iron on the lowest setting❤✌🏻

I am glad someone actually posted this. Because I know some people idolize the bullet journalers or the spreads they see and they r "I will never be like them I always make mistakes". I know some people give up because they think oh I am not good enough, I make mistakes and I forget this and that
Yes exactly! It makes me sad when I see comments like that because we all make mistakes, and we’re all hard on ourselves! I never considered myself good at visual art (my sister was the artist/actor growing up, and I was the dancer/singer!) but over time, and with lots of practice, my skills are improving and my confidence is growing! If I can do it anyone can ❤️
No cats here. But plenty of children. Young (the youngest age 4) and old (the oldest 24). My youngest always manages to hang on the my writing arm when I am working on my journals. And the bigs (14-24) always want my attention.

My expectation for my bujo was to be like everyone else’s but not for me but reality is I never used it so I realized my perfect bullet journal is one for my job. So my planning is my job then my home life. Because I don’t have a set work schedule I have to plan the night before so I can plan home life AFTER my work schedule

In my weeklies I write all of our clients for the day and days to come during the week. On the dailies I divide one daily in half-work, and home. When my supervisor texts me of my schedule for the next day I highlight the clients name that is in the weeklies then I write the name of the client in the work section in the dailies and any details I need to write down for work that day. And obviously in the home section in the dailies I write appointments and any tasks I need to do for the day
I had a cat that LICKED ink as if it was catnip! Yep smudges on pages were not from me smudging but my cat smudged it lol

Yes, to all you mentioned and more. I have consoled myself by saying it gives my bullet journal character. It's a weak excuse but I'm sticking by it. :)

When I started my Journal back in 2016 I planned and created spread after spread after.... not only did I not used most of 'em... I also penned my very first weekly upside down🤪🤪🤪. Also, dogs behave in no way better... every time I journal I get nagged for cuddles.... and if I do not deliver? Nose to arm pushes are not conducive to straight lines 😂

On the cat point, put one of those empty notebooks to use and place it open next to you while you work- I think its called mirroring but cats like to do what your doing or be with you while your doing it. That might help?

I have a suggestion for the erasing thing. Have you tried kneaded erasers? They don't need nearly as much pressure and bonus, they tend to smear ink less often.
Also, I knew when I got into BuJoing that having my habit trackers separate from my weekly spread would mean that that habit tracker would absolutely NEVER get filled in, lol. So I have it on my weekly spread so that it is right in my face on the daily. :)
