    The 35 seconds of pool between 1:42:00 and 1:42:35 is what makes Earl the greatest player of all time. (so far anyways)

      @@saywhat303 When Earl Strickland plays a match, he plays his opponent and his mental illness. If he could have ever consistently got his chemistry in check, in his prime everyone else would have just had to wait for him to finally retire to even have a chance. And the 35 seconds of play that I was talking about was just that, 35 seconds from a (comparatively) washed up Earl Strickland he drops three of the hardest shots of the match in the time it would take most (Pros) to take one shot. And I've been out plenty, been there, done that, seen that and still have the ticket stubs. It's your turn to now, comment when you get back.

      The fact that he had to shoot them shows he’s not that good in 8ball. *he’s still a great player*
      If Shane was in his situation from start of run he probably wouldn’t be banking to begin with. “I’m good at those shots because I have to shoot them a lot” “That table rolled, it wouldn’t roll like that for anyone else”

    I may get crucified for saying it but shane van boening is possible the best player in history !? He has the best break ever and can run out nearly any table no matter how ugly! Put him against mosconi, crane, Reyes and Strickland in their prime and he shoots as good as they do but has a better break. I know every player has their strong points but in pocket billiards I think shane has the edge.

    Daniel thanks for the upload and what you do for pool but I have to disagree about Earl getting to do what he wants. Its not so much the what, its the how. The problem from a fans perspective is that its a move by Earl. He only checked the rack when he was trying to slow Shane down. When he was putting packages together or had the lead he never checked the rack. If you're paying to watch someone or paying for a service then you expect a measure of professionalism. If its free, then yeah, do what you want.

    At 2:53:40 Earl just took the lead. 2:53:59 the score is posted as 20 to 20 instead of 20 to 19 in Earl's favor as it should have been! Check it out people! Bear in mind that it only takes one extra game given that can change the flow of play! Earl likely did noticed that move by the scorekeeper in the back of his mind & that's what triggered more of his belligerent behavior which in turn caused his game to suffer from that point on!

    Yes, I'd have to agree that Earl can be annoying person at times, but I've also noticed something else that has occurred in some of his matches! This is one of those matches! At the point where Earl ties it up 19 to 19 games apiece, I watched continuously to where he wins the next game! The score then is posted 20 to 20 after that win! WHERE the HECK did Van Boening get that FREE GAME? Another thing I noticed is how the scorekeeper mostly posted the score when Van Boening was in the lead! I'm still in the middle of viewing this match & will post another comment after I finish watching the rest of it!

      At that level, it's generally agreed upon that if it's obvious, you don't need to call it. I do recall a time when Shane was overseas in a tournament (may have been Taiwan, I can't remember) and he was playing 10-ball... he never really ever called the 10-ball on obvious shots and his opponent waited until Shane got to the hill to say he didn't call the 10. The referee ruled in the opponent's favor and Shane didn't even finish the match. Instead, he packed up his bag and left and said he'd never play in that tournament again.

    Great matchup, horrible equipment choice. These guys rarely more than 2-stroke any shot in this game, belying how little respect they give it. The most popular pool game in the world, by far, is snooker. It's on a 6x12, not some dinky toy size.
    These days even 9' tables are bordering on the boring size. Every 10' game is an epic event in american pool.

    • @airofballin
      @airofballin Před 9 lety

      just because they are 2 stroking doesn't mean they don't respect the game. Both players are rhythm players, as you will notice they play best when they play fast. When Earl or Shane ever starts 2 stroking in tournaments, ppl get scared. Kinda the same thing as R. O'Sullivan, 2 stroking whenever he's feeling good

    By the way these rules are way too easy. We're used to playing last pocket 8 ball and you're not allowed to pocket an opponents ball at all in no circumstance and we don't have ball in hand which makes scratching a legal "safety" shot but you can do it only two times cause on the third time you lose the game. Regardless the way these guys are playing is mesmerizing, only I wish I'd see them play my version of the game to see how they strategise and deal with the problems that last pocket 8 ball has.
