The 35 seconds of pool between 1:42:00 and 1:42:35 is what makes Earl the greatest player of all time. (so far anyways)
That is a good run
You should watch bank pool...
But he lost 🤫
@@saywhat303 When Earl Strickland plays a match, he plays his opponent and his mental illness. If he could have ever consistently got his chemistry in check, in his prime everyone else would have just had to wait for him to finally retire to even have a chance. And the 35 seconds of play that I was talking about was just that, 35 seconds from a (comparatively) washed up Earl Strickland he drops three of the hardest shots of the match in the time it would take most (Pros) to take one shot. And I've been out plenty, been there, done that, seen that and still have the ticket stubs. It's your turn to now, comment when you get back.
The fact that he had to shoot them shows he’s not that good in 8ball. *he’s still a great player*
If Shane was in his situation from start of run he probably wouldn’t be banking to begin with. “I’m good at those shots because I have to shoot them a lot” “That table rolled, it wouldn’t roll like that for anyone else”
I AM VERY, VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO EARL BECOMING A COMMENTATOR!
CAN'T WAIT!
Like
check him out on the billiard network
Earl can shoot pool. Earl is a lousy person . As a commentator Earl has to much shut in his mouth to not have diarrhea of the mouth.
Just wanted to say thanks for posting these. Amazing to watch this level of play on a bar table.
Earl: “You sure are lucky.”
Shane: “No, I’m just a good shot, that’s all.”
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I LOVE TO WATCH BOTH OF THESE WORLD CLASS PLAYERS SHOOT POOL...AND THE ICING ON THE CAKE IS EARL GOING OFF...AND SHANE VanBoening LAUGHING IT OFF!
1:16:00 What a great couple of shots by Shane
Earl: I give up.
*Makes an outstanding shot*
*Complains*
*wins the rack*
Also, this is low-key the best rivalry of the 2000 teens
why not on TV any more, I remember seeing pool on TV, a long time ago, would be nice to see it again,
You can literally see as much as you want on here, and no terrible tv ads. It’s better this way.
i just love watching these guys play. Legends at the table :)
Would it be that complicated to make the score visible on the screen? Incredible you can watch 10 racks and no mention of the score...
Hey Daniel, any chance you folks could find the time to recompress this and make a new 1080 or upscale to 4K version? Thanks for all you do!
I give reason to Earl for the kick (43:40) they need more than 1 cueball during a match
a cleaned cueball for each game to avoid kick.
I may get crucified for saying it but shane van boening is possible the best player in history !? He has the best break ever and can run out nearly any table no matter how ugly! Put him against mosconi, crane, Reyes and Strickland in their prime and he shoots as good as they do but has a better break. I know every player has their strong points but in pocket billiards I think shane has the edge.
I love him but its hard to argue against Efren in his prime.
Couldn’t agree more, Early! Actually.. couldn’t agree earlier lol
He’s a superb player for sure.
Efren has 1 us open Shane and earl have 5 , efren lost more finals than anyone ever look it up . Efren isn’t at there table when it comes to 9 ball pool
@@teddyhaynes9876efren in his prime smokes both of them in one pocket.
Earls just a big baby
I really need to put together an Earl soundbar
On 2:37:25 did nobody see Earl touching the cue ball twice?
No, I guess not Sticro1. Pretty good eyes there. If it helps you any, he did end up scratching on the break though.
POVPOOL I am curious, what happens if they saw double touch and the cue ball didnt scratch? Rerack?
Probably just ball in hand foul would be called.
POVPOOL Thanks for answering, btw great job producing awesome videos, we pool fans around the world appreciate it, it is not often we see these kind of matches, thanks again :)
Fortunately, he received instant justice in form of scratch :)
Daniel thanks for the upload and what you do for pool but I have to disagree about Earl getting to do what he wants. Its not so much the what, its the how. The problem from a fans perspective is that its a move by Earl. He only checked the rack when he was trying to slow Shane down. When he was putting packages together or had the lead he never checked the rack. If you're paying to watch someone or paying for a service then you expect a measure of professionalism. If its free, then yeah, do what you want.
It would be nice to see what the score is?
What brand of glove is Earl wearing?
Thank you!
some of the banter in this match is so good LOL
At 2:53:40 Earl just took the lead. 2:53:59 the score is posted as 20 to 20 instead of 20 to 19 in Earl's favor as it should have been! Check it out people! Bear in mind that it only takes one extra game given that can change the flow of play! Earl likely did noticed that move by the scorekeeper in the back of his mind & that's what triggered more of his belligerent behavior which in turn caused his game to suffer from that point on!
I love how shane sat there watching earl in the end hah
3:04 that was lucky for Shane bumping the 14 ball to the side for a duck shot!
Earl's stick is literally almost as long as the table lol
1:24:33 PINBALL MACHINE TABLE NEEDS FLIPPERS ON IT!
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like some decider. great video.
I'm curious, why does Earl have a glove on the "wrong" hand? Isn't the glove supposed to be on the bridge hand in order to reduce friction that would come from the skin?
Hes been playing for years. Earls a hurtin unit.
+Boris Svetiev It's a batting glove to give him extra grip friction on the butt.
+jonathan .freiberger You have a point. My question should be: why does he wear gloves on both hands?
Table size? Thought bar box was 7ft but this looks bigger?
It's a 7 footer
I'm curious did anyone listen what Shane said to Earl around the 2:01:30 mark?
actionhunter93 I believe after what earl said, Shane responded with "Noooo.... it was just a good shot" lol
Lool, thanks man.
what's with the background sound in the video?
what the size of this table 8 ft?
Excellent match. Shane could handle Earl and Earl appreciates someone he can't intimidate.
And there it’s gone! It helps to complain!
Yes, I'd have to agree that Earl can be annoying person at times, but I've also noticed something else that has occurred in some of his matches! This is one of those matches! At the point where Earl ties it up 19 to 19 games apiece, I watched continuously to where he wins the next game! The score then is posted 20 to 20 after that win! WHERE the HECK did Van Boening get that FREE GAME? Another thing I noticed is how the scorekeeper mostly posted the score when Van Boening was in the lead! I'm still in the middle of viewing this match & will post another comment after I finish watching the rest of it!
Why is Batman commentating?
Lol
For all you pool junkies out there, listen to a song by the late Paul Delay. Chalk and Roll.
Shane is very quiet he doesn't talk a lot he just makes balls and he is so great at that he's a very good shots maker Earl on the other hand speaks a lot and complains about everything and that's so annoying for Shane but I love Earl more Than Shane though but he has to stop that even though some people might see it funny but when you play against a guy who speaks too much during the game that's so annoying and can prevent you from playing good
Thing about it is any time Shane gets tired of listening to Earl he can just turn his hearing aid down.
I think Shane had to overcome some type of speech impediment! There's also the possibility he's partially deaf from how he speaks! Guess I'll research that sometime!
Is there any way to get Earl's mouth to stay shut.
earl mentioned valley rules after shane launched the cueball at 1:51:49......In valley...the ball is shot from behind the line on a scratch on the break...you cant shoot at a ball that is behind the line....rule applies on the break only....otherwise ball in hand for a foul
This has to be one of the best matches ive watched. But something that was driving me crazy. They kept breaking head on and never making balls half the time. If they would have went with the side break i feel balls would have started dropping. They never tried the side break. Kept breaking head on and dry.
Shane made at least one ball on the break 21 times in this match.
The second ball break would not change those kind of results.
Also he finished the match with an 8 pack
2nd ball break is for amateurs , pros break like men
Noise gate pls
when earl retires id love to see him as a commentator with his own tip/ trick segment. earls pearls of wisdom lol
is this slop call pocket?
or shot?
What about that sound, three hours of white noise right up your skull, not healthy...
You see that ball BONG lmaso
yeah! earl "mouth" strickland............eaten alive by sean!
2:38:21 - 2:39:08 47 second rack by Shane
42 second one at 3:25:07
Earl for commentator!!
trent.... it IS a 7 footer...lol....weird for these guys
final score?
30-22 Shane
da precision
Earl "I need a therapist" Strickland
Earl is what pool needs , who wants to watch a boring robotic person doing the same thing and never talking?
I will never get bore watching Earl shooting ! His talent undeniable and I think he's funny as hell even when he complaining lmao
Earl "The Girl" Strickland whining and crying as always
Earls nonstop bitching would aggravate me to no end. I’d have to tell him to shut up after awhile.
Thanks for this video and it is great. But one thing for future announcers: When Earl is talking, I guarantee everyone is straining their ears to hear him, so just hold on a second with the announcing when he is going off.
2:08:30 announcer: "there's nothing I hate more than when announcers talk over Earl. I want to hear what he has to say." 2:10:30 same guy talking over Earl.
👍
Earl is pure entertainment to watch.
Shane Van Boening should've lost a few racks for not calling the 8 ball
At that level, it's generally agreed upon that if it's obvious, you don't need to call it. I do recall a time when Shane was overseas in a tournament (may have been Taiwan, I can't remember) and he was playing 10-ball... he never really ever called the 10-ball on obvious shots and his opponent waited until Shane got to the hill to say he didn't call the 10. The referee ruled in the opponent's favor and Shane didn't even finish the match. Instead, he packed up his bag and left and said he'd never play in that tournament again.
Audio quality like a grammar phone
Is that like .... a phone that corrects your grammar as you speak? Where can I get one?
+Harold Price yeah me too! what's a grammar phone?
tell the score and quit mumbling, cant hear you , quit putting earl down, hes the greatest in the world
the camera angle makes it look like a 7 footer lol
+Trent Johnson That's because it is a 7 footer.
+POVPOOL I realized that after I started watching the match. haha I didn't realize it til Shane's shaft reached a third of the way across the table lol
+Trent Johnson ;) ;)
Earl have better vision than boening
When earl starts whining its so annoying, which is virtually every time he plays.
Earl Strickland.is.a.nut
Cry baby in the 80's.... still a cry baby.... Goes to show ya some ppl never grow up.
My Lord Earl is one big cry baby. So annoying listening to him cry about every leave, shot, and safety. Maybe if you did not whine so much, and think positive, you would win so many more contests.
Great matchup, horrible equipment choice. These guys rarely more than 2-stroke any shot in this game, belying how little respect they give it. The most popular pool game in the world, by far, is snooker. It's on a 6x12, not some dinky toy size.
These days even 9' tables are bordering on the boring size. Every 10' game is an epic event in american pool.
just because they are 2 stroking doesn't mean they don't respect the game. Both players are rhythm players, as you will notice they play best when they play fast. When Earl or Shane ever starts 2 stroking in tournaments, ppl get scared. Kinda the same thing as R. O'Sullivan, 2 stroking whenever he's feeling good
l8tbloomer I've always found 7' to be quite difficult (hey, they're ALL difficult!) because the smaller size demands even greater precision with position. I agree about snooker though. SO difficult. Tiny pockets, tiny balls, HUGE table.
","
By the way these rules are way too easy. We're used to playing last pocket 8 ball and you're not allowed to pocket an opponents ball at all in no circumstance and we don't have ball in hand which makes scratching a legal "safety" shot but you can do it only two times cause on the third time you lose the game. Regardless the way these guys are playing is mesmerizing, only I wish I'd see them play my version of the game to see how they strategise and deal with the problems that last pocket 8 ball has.
no one cares? you couldnt beat neither of these players in any rule set
T&M Productions True, but I would still love to see them work their magic in these rule sets in particular.
Boris Svetiev same here man, im from Puerto Rico and we play just like that, except we have no limit with scratches but we do play last pocket and no ball in hand, some places they do, but its true what you're saying, would be great to see them play last pocket
Boris Svetiev everyone thinks these tables are easy but there not for average players. these guys are 2 of the best ever . 7ft tables have more clusters u gotta navigate thru them.. the 9fr table is tougher but u got way more room.for position play. people think because shane is running 8 packs its a easy table but there wrong
The rules you just explained for "your version" of 8 ball in whatever rinky dink little league you play in, ARE STUPID!! This version of 8-ball with these rules is the best, that's why the pros are playing this way.
They never tried the side break. Kept breaking head on and dry.🥲
