    “How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
    Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
    Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
    Welcome to the Young Nails family!

    Absolutely agree that an uncomplicated menu is best. When I was opening up on my own for the first time, that was a priority to me because at my last salon, we got so many comments about how complicated our menu was. Make it easy for them!
    Also, yes pedicures can absolutely be a money maker! My business is pedicure focused, and I do all waterless, e-file services. There is a huge market for a clean, safe pedicure by a highly trained and educated tech who clients can trust with their health. One of the things in my pricing that is different from most is that I charge for polish. Not every client wants it, and I also have a lot of male clients. Polishing takes extra time and product, so if a client wants it, they can pay for it. Having it as an add on is helpful to my pocketbook, as well as my schedule/timing.

    This gives me comfort in my pricing. I was afraid to charge more, but I know that I give great service. I'm in a suite now and I have a fabulous massaging chair, lighting, music of their choice....so my future clients will be paying for an experience vs just a service. You guys are awesome. ❤️

    Great video, I have gone the route of charging the same for gel and acrylic..I just recently re did my menu and simplified having a base price then adding to it. It is so different now with so many products being used...throwback to the day where it was a full set and a refill...cheers :)

    This was SUCH a helpful video. I've been thinking about getting my license later on this year and wasn't sure what I should be offering. I'm really comfortable with acrylic right now, but wasnt sure if I should be offering more just to get people in my chair. Anyway, thank you so much for such a great video!

    As a customer I prefer to pay more and have a very nice spa setting for my pedicures. I don't like the little hole in the wall that wants to charge the same price as the spa and even if it is cheap I would pay more for the spa. I do my own gel nails, but I love going for pedicures

    I feel like location is a thing on pricing. I live in Perris California and I work from home so it's a dirt road and people get freaked out I'm also a beginner.

    • @thesoftlife1033
      @thesoftlife1033 Před 3 lety +6

      Overcome the atmosphere with excellent work and customer service. We live in a small east Texas town. We bought granite from a company in a location similar to yours. It's down a deeply rutted dirt road, dead cars & trucks in the front yard and you have to drive around the back🤔😒😒. Yep, it looks shady, scary almost like The Hills Have Eyes kinda situation 😒😒😱. But, they do amazing work,!!! Its a family run business. They installed our granite like it was for their own home!! I would recommend them highly regardless of the "atmosphere". Do your thing girl!😍😍. Consider telling clients about the "atmosphere" up front = no surprise then dazzle them with 1st class nail services and customer service like Nordstroms!!!

    Hi! Thank you for your advice. You are great. I just have a question for you, I want to start in my home with nails and on my area I think everybody work with gel, I don't know I see anybody offers acryl or dip powder... Do you think I could start with it to have more clients in start?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před rokem

      You can build a good clientele with either acrylic or gel. If you do the service well, the clients generally don't mind which product you use, as long as they look good & hold up. If you are working from home, we do recommend checking with your local state board to make sure you follow the rules & regulations for your state.

    "overlay vs extension" this is a bit confusing because years ago, Greg was referring to extensions AS overlays. so, what is an overlay in the context that Tracie is speaking on?

    • @drywalllopez
      @drywalllopez Před 3 lety +2

      Overlay is on natural nail extensions are using a tip or sculpting out a longer nail

    • @beautybyambuurrhh8385
      @beautybyambuurrhh8385 Před 3 lety +1

      Sometimes Greg says that when he’s doing a full set. What I’ve come to understand: (from watching soooo many YN videos lol) he does the extended part on the form first and then he’s like see, now it’s just like doing an overlay, because the basic shape of a nail is there, so at that point just treat it as an overlay to finish building the nail.
      What Tracey means is just putting acrylic/gel over the natural nail with no forms/extending.

  • @louisesteyn8064
    @louisesteyn8064 Před 2 lety

    We have this problem in South Africa: People watch a few videos and then buy supplies and start their little busines. They tend to undercut all the qualified techs in the area. What to do there?? I mean, At Star Nails I had to do a four day course, before receiving my certificates.

    • @candyluna2929
      @candyluna2929 Před 2 lety +1

      You set yourself apart with licensing and great photos of your high quality work. Also, the ppl that go to them shouldn't be your target clients

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před 2 lety +4

      Unfortunately there will always be those people that choose to do nails without the proper training and education. Just remember that these aren't your competition and customers that are looking for highly trained and skilled technicians will find you because they respect your skills and education.

  • @izzychavez8381
    @izzychavez8381 Před 3 lety +2

    So I don't really speak nails so I'm wondering what's a overlay? What's artificial? Is it forms or tips 🤔

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před 3 lety +5

      overlay is when you are applying product over just your nail, no extension with forms or tips. artificial is adding anything to the natural nail, with the exception of regular polish.
