@DarkEternal6 High unlikely that would be the case... despite if they managed to hold it, I sincerely doubt Stalin would of gave up, along so too... the western front was already in the process of being open so even if they did manage to hold onto the mountains... eventually the allies numbers would be too much for the axis and if you really look at it... Germany was pretty much the axis army

Reminds me of my insane story I once had in a Hoi4 campaign.
I was playing the Soviets for the third time in total and the first time in like half a year.
My friend decided to play as communist china (a year before waking the Tiger was released).
I helped my friend against the other chinese states (I don't know anymore who big he was).
My army had an serious lack of equipment and I just ran trough the purge in 1939.
Germany proceeded to attack Poland and was also at war with the allies. I made the Molotov Rippentop pakt because I needed time to get my army up and running.
The German AI defeatet Poland not within a month but more like an single week.
They proceeded to absolutley destroy Benelux and France in the next few weeks.
And just as I looked at our border in former Poland I saw rows rows of mechanized infantry alongside the normal units stacking up on our border.
And just as I saw it the war began.
It wasn't even really a war. The troops of the USSR were pushed back and it didn't stop.
The war already draged on for about a year and Moscow was about to fall into German hands just as Stalin- and Leningrad did weeks earlier.
There was nearly no resistance against the Germans and the few units that could have been availible were in the east. Desperatly defending and eventually pushing back the Japanese back where they had come from.
But the Japanese returned even stonger from their positions in Korea and just as the few Sowjet troops entered China that were trying to defend the west the government of the USSR capitulated to the Germans.
The situation looked dark.
It seemed like the people of China and USSR were doomed and already at the step of their grave.
But just when the Axis powers were at the borders of China from 1936 but we smelled an opportunity.
The few Russian and Chinese troops began a small attack on the Japanese to gain some ground.
Soon it turned into an full on offensive. Pushing the Japanese troops out of mainland Asia.
And the shall not return. Ever.
After China had an army bigger than ever before they startet to save the USSR just as the USSR did years earlier.
Years of attrition showed their marks on the Wehrmacht.
It still took two to three years until the Axis were fully defeatet.
It was wonderful.
Had a similar play just with german republic(when waking the tiger was new) i played germany and my friend played norway, we gained allies and formed the EU faction
While we where prepping for war the soviet launched a suprise attack on us, and managed to push all the way back to berlin, they didnt take it, norway capitulated since the commies took out scandi. Well i got alot of hungarian expd troops which saved alot of my manpower since hungary almost capitulated.
That was the moment i saw that the US was available to invite to faction. Man that saved the day, since the us just demolished the soviets like they where ants. We pushed the commies back to ural and capitulated them, ehile france descided to become commies too so we had to do a quick operation white flag too. Well that was a nice comeback
