1:02:15 it should have been "former communist republics" or "soviet satellite states" and not "former soviet republics". Please take it accordingly. Also, at 1:00:45, the argument is that NATO, an alliance of the like-minded western democracies was formed to contain the growing influence of the USSR, and once the Warsaw Pact came into being, NATO and Warsaw Pact served as rival security alliances. Upon the dissolution of the USSR, many believed NATO had lost its essence which however wasn't to be... it outlived its imagined utility (serving as a vehicle to advance interests of the West, particularly in checking post-soviet Russia) - - NATO remained equally relevant so much so that Poland (where Warsaw Pact was signed) itself joined the transatlantic security alliance.
    Thanks!

Great Podcast! despite a few discrepancies(which seems to be addressed in comment by the speaker) the podcast provided insightful commentary on the current war situation. The analysis of domestic politics, the critique of intra-party democracy weaknesses, and the discussion on how new parties entering Nepal's political scene should position themselves were particularly noteworthy.

I like how he has very well informed and eloquent opinions on some global geopolitical maneuverings, but its important for viewers to understand its just an analysis from a wanna be neutral standpoint that will only confuse you more.
I can sense a bit of fear mongering in his opinions on how Nepal should tread the waters while dealing with global powers, else end up like Ukraine.
Sympathizes with Russian, annexation of Crimea while holding mostly Ukraine accountable for the ordeal, while we have similar situation in Terai , that might one day be annexed into India with a referendum peacefully.
its laughable that he prescribes Nepal to utter no formal opinions in global happenings like such illegal annexations, while he complains of government not being able to take a stand in various international meddling here , also while believing our good future in terms of development is unthinkable without foreign aids.
He prescribes Neutrality, but let me remind you, Nepal’s Neutrality has always been fake. We have always aligned with the west since the end of Anglo Nepal war. We have fought two great wars and few more as Western Allies, and thats how the world sees us. Its ok to choose sides and not be confused. The reason why we have not been invaded so far has been due to our history as a strong nation for centuries not due to our neighbors mercy! Our sovereignty as a nation has been further boosted by our alliance with the west and our behavior of not poking the sensitivities of our giant neighbors.
Its super important for us Nepali people to know that, we are not feeble like some of these analysts submissively claim. We are like a hornets nest that nobody wants to mess with.
We are the owners of the Himalayan geography and master of our own fate. While causing trouble to our neighbors should be the last thing we should think of, being strangled as a landlocked nation by both of the giants like we have been recently should not be tolerated. In such cases , their sensitivities can and should be poked.

Democracy is a process- not an outcome. 30 years ago Nepal India China Bangladesh all were in similar economic standing - where is Nepal now ? It’s the poorest among all the countries without an active war. But all these paid intellectuals are constantly telling us that democracy reigns above all and should be fought for- no we should fight for a better social and economic outcome not for democracy !

1:09:10 Nepal doesn't necessarily need to be neutral. It can raise its voice regarding other nations. However, its foreign policy is based on non-alignment meaning it doesn't have any security alliances. One can be non-aligned and not be neutral.

This dude is spousing such nonsense when it comes to RaSwaPa(Rastriya Swatantra Party). All candidates and I mean ALL(including local, provincial and federal), are fielded only after they win the primary elections. And you and I, every Nepali citizen can vote in that primary election. How come he missed this? Coming to American republic party, Mitch Mcconnell has been at the helm of power since eons there, yet he conveniently misses that part. Yes, RaSwaPa has roomfor improvement but saying they are following the same "funda" as old parties is such misrepresentation when your entire speech was about internal democracy in parties. Sushant, you need to better challenge your guests on these matters. These people can easily sway tens of thousands of Nepalis as they trust you as alternative media whether you like it or not.

Seemed very poorly informed, the host, very much surface level discussion in overall. Tried to touch too many topics, host jumping from one topic to compeltely different topic shows his surface level understanding, and lastly x2 speed was slow for me, imagine at normal speed.
