    didnt drive the track for almost 2 years, this is my 4th lap of the week.the damping setup was not finished by that time.
    i was messing around a bit,due to the traffic there was no possibility to do a good lap.
    but i think it shows the potential of the car quite good.
    specs:
    engine rebuilt by Hayward Rotary in April 2011 (about 27000km now)
    Apexi Power FC with Commander
    Garrett T04E Single Turbo
    HKS Mushroom Air Filter
    HKS Cast Manifold
    HKS 3" Down Pipe
    50mm external HKS Wastegate plumbed back into Downpipe
    complete 3" catless exhaust with resonator and muffler
    walbro intank fuel pump (255l/h)
    550cc Primary Injectors
    1680cc Secondary Injectors
    KG Parts Fuel Rail
    Fuel Pressure Regulator
    Air Pump Removed & a/c removed & spare wheel removed
    battery relocated in the trunk
    big radiator and big intercooler v-mount
    custom power steering cooling pipe
    Polished Lower Inlet Manifold
    modified greddy elbow and custom intake piping
    modified Blitz SS BOV
    Engine Damper
    Exedy Stage2 Clutch (fitted 2010!!)
    re amemiya ignition amplifier
    NGK BR10EIX plugs
    magnecor competition plug wires
    still no boost controller (about to come)
    peak boost around 0.9 bar / hold boost around 0.8 bar (should be close to 350 bhp and about 400nm of torque)
    almost complete pu bushes all round
    megan racing toe ends in the front / megan racing toe arms in the back
    XYZ racing spec coilovers (spring rate 20kg front and rear)
    ST suspension sway bars
    improved racing sway bar links
    setup (wheel alignment and height adjustment on a wheel scale) done by Raeder Motorsport
    yokohama advan AD08R tyres (235/45/17 front & 255/40/17 back) on buddy club p1 racing wheels
    stock 4 pot calipers with CL RC6 pads and dba 4000 series 6x6 wiper slot discs in the front. (i used 1 and a half set of pads in 10 laps!!)...need something better
    ebc 307+ racing brake fluid & braided steel lines
    yellow stuff pads and hawk discs in the back
    oil temperature/pressure gauges
    innovate wideband lambda control with afr gauge
    checked 1295 kg with a full tank of gas and me sitting in it (!)
    i still have probably forgotten some things...

    God you are lucky you are able to run your FD at the Nurburgring. That's definitely on my bucket list with my FD.

    It was always a dream of mine to do Nurburgring in my old FD. I very much regret selling it. Of all the cars I've owned, even many much more expensive, never before or after did anything give me the same feeling as the RX-7. It was a '96 white with red leather interior. Had Momo wheel etc and RZ spoiler etc. I think it was a Bathurst edition. At the time, I was glad to get rid of it.. it obviously had very high running costs and everything and as a young guy I struggled to afford the upkeep.. even though it was my dream car I had to sell it. I ended up in the AE86 scene instead for various reasons.. less expense, easier to work at, easier to obtain parts etc. Many AE86s later I wish I had the RX-7 today. Looking back I sold it very cheap, even though it was an immaculate car, with some tasteful upgrades. Unfortunately the new owner modified the exterior (kit spoiler etc).. each to their own, but I'm not a fan of exterior modification of the FD, personally. Where I come from it's seen as very tacky to ruin the beauty of the FD. Stock ones are worth much more here. Thank you for posting the video. It's nice to see.

      a couple of weeks after this video was shot, i had it remapped again with a proper boost controller which made it run even better!

      Thanks mate. But the sound you refer to comes from the blow-off-valve, not the wastegate. =)

    So many tuner cars have horrible reliability problems. Looks like you've done a nice job with your FD! I'd love to take my FD there as well, but that will never happen. It's just too far away from middle USA. Thanks for the video!

      i have uploaded another lap with a time of 8:03 and the dampers were much better set up then.
      but the coilovers werent the best anyway...

    Need more of this!!! Mazda rotary engines at the Nurburgring...want to see a seriously modified 3 rotor big Turbo "well tuned" in action there...in an FD or Rx-8 body...or both!!!

    Did a lap real early in the morning, but a toyota gt86 rental didnt looked in the mirrors so I almost crashed hard, so that was my only lap =D

    Fantastic, I halos have an FD. Is it modified at all? I am not confident at all with mine and I think the suspension is tired. It doesn't feel like the car hats meant to be one of the best handling cars made.

    m8, I noticed the damping setup, that suspension is not set for that kind of track, too harsh... try softer damping/rebound settings and a medium anti.roll bar, loosing time in alot of corners.. and for example... after cornet 2 you are not able to go flat out because the suspension in just bouncing the car arround... you should be able to reach the 8 min flat if u try that... give us your damper settings plans?

      The car is long gone, unfortunately. I crashed it 6 years ago. Had it on the dyno, i believe it was 325whp. I have a video from that day on my channel.

    Dampers very stiff for the Nords. Lots of skittering in corners as a result. Good driving to compensate.

    What shifter is that? The shift action looks really short and snappy, must feel nice.

      Some short shifter, i have no idea which brand it is. Im using it now in my current FD. But shifting is not as nice, as it was in this one, though i also have the very same gearbox as in the video in it. Not sure whats the reason yet. So a smooth shifting is not just a result of a good short shifter. Everything of the power transmission has to be in good order to get a good shifting feel.
      But your are right, shifting was a breeze in my old FD.

It does make sense that a transmission's condition has a big impact on how shifting feels. Well thank you very much for your insight. Some good information that I will remember for, when I buy an FD sometime in the future haha.

    I'm only a minute in and I can already tell your spring rates are shockingly out of range on this track...
    What are you running...? The car looks like a proper handful with that suspension set up...

      there is a complete spec list in the description. i wasnt finished setting up the dampers at this piont.

      still, the spring rates were a little too high, all in all, the coilovers have not been the best choice. they were quite ok, considering the low price. but i wouldnt buy them again.

      Holycow - yeah thats's far too stiff to be comfortable or safe at that speed - XYZ are cheap Taiwanese shocks that I would advise anyone against running - not when there are so many good Japanese used units available.
      I was running Apexi N1's and they were excellent.

      ja, fand ich wirklich auch sehr schade, dass du nicht dabei sein konntest.ich habe auf jeden fall geplant dieses jahr nochmal an den ring zu fahren.ich sage so früh, wie möglich bescheid!
      und wir fahren auf jeden fall zusammen ne runde im rx7, wir machen dann halt nicht ganz so schnell und an den holprigen stellen nehmen wir einfach das tempo raus. :)

    Hahaha bei 5:20 und kurz darauf folgend habe ich gut gefeiert. :D Ansonsten macht es die ganze Zeit Spaß zuzugucken! Schön gefahren! Schönes Auto sowieso (aber etwas hart für die Nordschleife abgestimmt?) ;-).

      RacetrackMX5 ja, das fahrwerk ist leider doch zu etwas hart und hat etwas zu wenig restfederweg.aber sonst ist es gar nicht schlecht.
      auf jeden fall kann man doch einigermaßen zügig damit auf dem ring fahren finde ich. :)

    Traumauto und nette Runde! Wenn auch der Drift und der Biker n bissel was von der Zeit gekostet haben. Aber warum die Weicheier Linie beim Kreisel? ^^ Zu tief der Wagen oder was? xD ;P

      das karussell ist eine regelrechte folter für die karosserie, besonders,
      wenn der wagen so hart und tief ist, wie dieser hier war. aus liebe zum
      auto habe ich also meistens darauf verzichet.
