We figure that if a car is fast at one mile above sea level it will also be fast in the lower parts of the world. In another fun and informative TFLcar 0-60 MPH video review, we test the 2014 KIA Cadenza to see just how fast it can accelerates from 0-60 MPH at a mile above sea level.
I love that people still hate on Kia... it keeps the price down for those of us who know they make quality products.
So, to the "haters", I say "keep hating!". Keeps a new car in my drive way and a lot of extra cash in my wallet.

I just bought this car, trading in a 2012 Optima. This car is far superior. Extremely comfortable and very fast. I nailed it off the line and it was actually a little scary. So pleased with it beyond expectations.
Just got 2015 Pearl White, 24k miles, $19k!!! Also just paid off 2011 Optima!!! Love THIS BODY STYLE,

I have a cadenza and it's definitely faster than your posted times... although I am closer to sea level my o-60 are just under 6 sec

That's because kia and hyundai are like the lexus of this generation of cars. When Lexus was first released in the US everyone laughed at the idea of a "Toyota" competing with the big 3 German brands, but look where they are now...

They're a mile above sea level. Most other testers get around 6-6.5 seconds. And certainly, most people disagree with you about FWD; dunno if you heard about that survey that showed most BMW owners don't even know their cars are RWD. And have you ever heard of Citroen?

I'd like to see a mashup review of this and the Equus. I really like the direction that the Korean car makers are going. Just bought a 2013 Elantra for my wife and she loves it.
Actually 13' Honda Accord Sport manual 0-60 is 6.8 sec (cvt is 7.6 sec)at sea level. And the 13' Accord V6 manual or AT 0-60 is 5.5-5.6 sec at sea level.
Possibly because the same designer worked at Audi, who started that Audi-esqe rear design at Audi.

It looks like an Audi/VW, because Audi's famous designer, Peter Schreyer, is now a president of Hyundai/Kia.
I personally really like both the Optima and Cadenza. Kia is crushing it this generation with such great cars. Heck I like just about everything Hyundai is doing these days...

From the rear the Cadenza is almost indistinguishable from a VW Jetta, prety similar in profile as well. Must agree that this is the nicest Kia ever made though that is damning with faint praise at best.

Kia has made leaps and bounds in the last decade in regards to their quality, as has Hyundai in the last 15 years or so.
I just wish they'd make more cars with AWD. (Cars, not SUV's or crossovers.)

I would get the 2014 impala first, but this would be my second choice for a full size car.

I still think Lexus, Volvo, Acura and Infiniti delivers better performance and more luxurious cars but maybe in about 5 years Kia might be able to start a sister brand like toyota and focus on their premium car line up:)

22 MPG?? Are you kidding?? My wife's '07 Toyota Tacoma gets 21 - 22 MPG, and it has a 4.0 liter V6. The term piss poor comes to mind regarding the Kia.
The real 0-60 with traction control off for the cadenza is 6.3 seconds quarter mile 14.8 seconds when its not a mile above sea level.

Well a Optima fully loaded will cost u around 35k a fully load Cadenza around 40k u decide if u like the v6, the white seating, the smother suspension, the luxury feel instead of sport feel, and the extra size enough to pay 5k extra, plus the looks of course, i do think that the Cadenza looks like a better looking 5 series, even if the 5 series is a smaller car with better feel to it when driving, the Optima on the other hand is a very good looking car just in a different way.
Kia needs to create a luxury subsidiary brand in order to approach the market because..well you know why

you're comparing cars from two different classes. apples and oranges. the optima is a mid-size family sedan. the cadenza is a full-size luxury sedan. it is a tremendous deal considering all that you get for that 40k compared to other cars in its class.

uh... welcome to 2013. Sticking with Japanese would have been a great idea in the 90's and good way to save money in the 00's. You'd be crazy not to look at Ford, Hyundai, Kia for mid market range cars.

The only thing I like about the Cadenza is that sexy lady in that commercial driving it. You all know what I am talking, I know you do.
The rear is a direct copy from Audi A6/Maserati QT, front is a BMW 5 GT, and interior is a direct rip off from Peugeot 508 (even the steering wheel is the same!). This car is soo shameless knockoff they don't sell Cadenza in Europe because carmakers mentioned before would sue Kia.

the car runs o-60 at about 6 sec... so his numbers were off about 2 sec

If its fwd, it's not luxury. Simple as that. And 7.8 seconds 0-60. That's pathetic. The first car I ever owned was a 2002 Ford Taurus that did it in 7.9 God Kia is a joke.

This is a great car, it does 0-60 in under 6 but these idiots have to do all of their testing way above sea level. And yes. Every luxury vehicle in this class is FWD, including Lexus.
