    This is being called a core model guitar which means it's going to be staying in the USA Lineup as full on production model just like the Slash core model 50s standards . It's not listed as sold out at some places because it's a limited addition It's just that they are out of stock . There are a alot of ore orders that need to be filled and once the pre orders are filled and initial demand tapers off retailers wwil have plenty. These are just the initial batch and some stores have not even received any of their first allotment. It was the same with the Epi 59s . The roll out was slow and they had months worth of pre orders to fill. It took a year before epi got caught up on the 59 production and retailers had regular stock

    These guitars consistently have some of the highest grade tops I've seen in a core model in a long time which, along with neck profile, is where the real difference between non-chambered LP's lies.
    Pickups, wiring, etc., are all quick and cheap to change so I don't really factor them into my decision making.
    For that reason,.I think it's a good value relative to the rest of the core LP lineup.

    When they release the greeny buckers separately buying a regular standard 50s and then the greeny bickers is not going to be cheaper then buying the greeny guitar it will be more expensive. This guitar is 200 dollars more then the regular 50s standard. Gibson will want 500 dollars a set for these just like the custombuckers so you will pay 300 more for a regular standard 50s and rhe greeny pickups. Even if you buy the faded 50s Standard and then the greeny buckers your not saving money.

    • @theguitarmarketplace
      @theguitarmarketplace  Před rokem +1

      Maybe you're right! Will be interesting to see if they hold the price of the Greenybuckers when I imagine they'd be able to make a lot more money if they made them affordable purely because of how many people we've heard are just interested in them rather than this guitar!
      Very good point though! I imagine they won't want people to just be able to get them straight away and make their own version when they've just released this guitar!

      Beg to differ. Here on Australia the greeny is $7500.
      A faded 50s les paul (which is what this is) is $4200.
      A set of custom greeny pick ups from montys is $700.
      For $4900 I can have the same guitar as the $7500 greeny and save $2600.

    Seems nice enough but happy to wait for Epiphone version . . . if not I've got the Epi / Gibson 59 hybrid and either way will most likely bang in a pair of Monty's Bethnal Greens. I love Peter Green's early work. It's weird how many reviews for this I've seen where the reviewers are just full on OD / Distortion, though. So much of PG's stuff was more less clean on the middle setting, often with massive reverb. You 'got it' so thumbs up! 😀

    This really is an inspired by Greeny Les Paul, personally i love the finish, judging by the depth, it will age quickly, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say. Soundwise, i love this guitar, definitely has that Greeny tone.
    Totally agree that there's nothing in the case to reference even what the guitar is, the warranty tag just has a code, only the Gibson box it came in references Kirk Hammett Greeny.
    I know it's had mixed feelings, but i love it and it's selling out 😊

    I don't get peopel who get hung up on booklets and case candy. You will read the booklet once and never look at it again if you even read it it does not add value to the guitar and anyone who is going to buy this guitar already knows the story of Greeny which is why they want it . The story has been told to death and if you buy this guitar you know the story already and most likely won't look at the book and for people who really want to delve into the history of greeny a booklet wil tell you nothing but the most basic details. You will get a small paragraph maybe 2 on one page in the booklet and as far as what they are trying to achieve with this guitar I think it's pretty obvious.
    The story of Greeny lies in the pickups anyway. And why do so many believe simply reverse Mounting a pickup puts it out of Phase?

    • @theguitarmarketplace
      @theguitarmarketplace  Před rokem

      You're right! I can't imagine many people buying this don't know about the Greeny already! It just feels like because it has come out as 'Greeny' it would give a bit of a song and a dance about the fact! Each to their own on that point though, it's much more in the tone and when you just consider the tone of this guitar and nothing else, it's incredible!

  • @VN9001
    @VN9001 Před 9 měsíci

    I tried one of these at my local shop and while I liked how it played, I totally agree with your assessment. This is a premium priced faded 50's Standard. You get nothing with it beyond the standard baby picture. Satin finishes just cry out bargain/budget model. To me, visually in person, the satin finish really takes away from the triple A top. No disrespect to Greenie fans at all (I get the history for sure), but IMO this is just another cash grab by Gibson - premium price for a standard satin finished Les Paul. No COA, no special case, no special truss rod cover, satin finish, not a "Limited Edition" - Premium Price! 😒

  • @adriennelee1520
    @adriennelee1520 Před rokem +1

    That one is really orange. You can polish the satin finish.. looks better and highlights the flame.. I think it's all hype.. neck suks, no bone nut and for that price? I am highly disappointed in this model and I had the original 52 Goldrop lp with a real /true fifties neck profile.. My greeny even had a huge bump up at the top of the neck.. a lump!! you could feel it.. sanded down the waxy neck finish and the profile of the neck as I have stated in other posts here. played like crap. Had to break it in.. nothing like the REAL greeny that lists for 20k. All HYPE.. and thank you for an honest review.. really good.

    Short answer…no. I have yet to play any Gibson I think is worth more than $1500 in a practical sense. I understand collecting is different than playing, but with so many options of Gibson-esque guitars out there that are actually better than Gibson…why bother?

    • @theguitarmarketplace
      @theguitarmarketplace  Před rokem

      Totally fair! Guitars do tend to work with diminishing returns where the higher price doesn't necessarily mean it's THAT much better!

  • @mrbarbelbarbello2332
    @mrbarbelbarbello2332 Před 9 měsíci

    Don't get the obsession with replicas. Makes sense for Gibson to create non-playing wall art and sell it with a fancy book and adhesive side burns for $500. You play it very well and it sounds good.

  • @orbitaljellyfish808
    @orbitaljellyfish808 Před rokem +2

    10:32 yes but a lower quality top, standard tuners, honey color finish, and any buyer sees as modded. Still better than trying to sell a used Chibson but not much. The factory Greeny standard is a known value, looks great, and can remain unmodded. Try looking at some faded 50’s - their tops are usually rubbish and they’re all nearly 10lbs. Even getting a discount means it’s almost all the expense of the Greeny standard and far fewer benefits. False value IMO.
