Another example of what a class act Mr. Thorn is to share such an in depth explanation of how a true pro sets up a personal studio. This is inspiring and motivational Thank you!
Thank you Wyatt!
@@PeteThorn Just when I think you can't possibly be any more down to earth, approachable, intelligent, and a wonderful human being, you go and make a series of video(s) that explain much more about you and how and who you are than the gear. Gifted beyond belief bro- Joshua
It’s tremendous! Thanks Pete
I am always coming back to this video. I could watch those kind of studio gear rigdown Videos all day! 😄
I like this guy because he uses the best of modern engineering, with good vintage tones in his head. Perfect convenience.
That's great. Thanks for the tour. I wondered how you kept you neighbors happy at those volumes, now I understand.
Your patch bay system is exactly how I finely connected my studio up. I also have my amps and load boxes hooked up with my amp/Cab switcher. I love it this way also. I wish you had put this video out 10 years so I would not have sweat so many bullets trying to figure out the best way to do this.LOL Fantastic video and explained very well.
Remember being a kid with a Sears catalogue at Christmas time - going through the toy section? This is that, but for grownup musicians. A video toy store. Thanks Pete for sharing.
Thank you Mr. Pete, this was a great video in which you demonstrate how to show a well sorted and spec'd setup without giving any sense of "look at all the stuff I have" whatsoever. You are a class act and anyone looking for the blueprint of how to be a humble, down to earth and personable musician...this is how you do it.
Godspeed,
Diem
Hey thanks!
I'm a little late to the party here, but thank you for sharing you studio setup, Pete. Watching this gives me ideas how I am going to set up my new room when I get moved out of my current space.
These vids are great, fans get to see how Pete makes those great guitar licks shine!
insanely cool. love it. Good tips for even start up studios.
Pete Thorn I dig on your demeanor and humble knowledge. Keep up the great work and spreading that good vibe. Especially in the LA music biz where egos are aplenty 😁
I didn't know what a patch bay is and am really grateful for the explanation. I'm usually lost rather quickly on rig videos but this is really great stuff. Thank you!
Great, glad you enjoyed it!
I live in the UK and I want to come to the US and Give you a massive hug for being such a great person. xxxx
Nice studio Pete! The Ampete gear is awesome ... I have two 88S's, the remote, and his Ampete One head ... great stuff. Peter is a great guy too.
Wow. Watching this was very inspiring. Thanks Pete!
Wow, thanks for the detailed tour. something we all wish we had, a musician's playground!
I really enjoyed watching this video. Thanks for sharing your rig and detailing all the wiring and user experience info for each piece.
First Class Nerd Nest! So cool.
Gear Acquisition Syndrome level 1000! That is a "dream set-up" if I've ever seen one. The ultimate guitarist studio. Just awesome. Fractal, Kemper, Line 6, Marshall and Suhr galore.... you have it all dude.
Dude thank you so much for this video. From only having experience using simple interfaces for recording, its fantastic to see and hear you run through all this gear and let us know how you use it!
Thanks Eric!
I'm doing research in order to upgrade my recording equipment and you've helped immensely. Big thanks for taking the time to make this video Pete!!
So impressed there's not a Fender or Gibson in sight. Thanks Pete!
Thanks for the tour Pete, you have a great setup with everything arranged perfectly for easy access.
Look forward to see how your isolated cab room turns out.
I don't play guitar or bass...but I love studio gear and I love Pete, so it works out for me, ha-ha!
Thank you for sharing this invaluable information for people like myself that are trying to learn how to do the best we can with what we've got. You are a blessing.
Now there’s a guy that appreciates a good patch bay!
This may be the most beautiful room I've ever seen in my life.
Top man. Eloquent, informative and a bloody great guitarist!! 🕶🤟🏻🎶
Amazing video Pete. I've been redoing my studio and guitar. This video is inspiring.
Man, you give so much information - so helpful. Thank you Pete!
Warning video induces serious gear envy haha
Hey I am not envious! I have a state of the art studio space too.... Well Ok if you measure state of the art back decades ago.
Nice setup. Custom amp shelves really look great for displaying all those amp heads. That Ampete is a cool piece of gear!
Yup....lovin it!!! Thanks for posting these vids Pete, really fun and full of useful info!!! Quiet inspirational too!
I love guitars. I love gear. I love audio and audio equipment. I am in heaven watching this. Thanks for sharing!!!
The ultimate cave of inspiration and productivity. Thanks for “pulling the veil” back in so much detail!
Doing a home studio myself. This video is very informative. You are a genius. Just want to say thank you. You explain everything so clearly and with great detail. Thanks again
Love it Pete! Great to get ideas from others' workflow.
Thanks for the peek at your gear. You have some really great pieces pf gear. Thanks for the tour.
Man... What a great space to work in. Well thought out and full of cool toys to boot!
This was fantastic! Thank you for being such a great resource, Pete.
Dammit, Pete! I was s'posed to be asleep by now, but you suckered me in! I can't wait to see the details about your iso room and the cabs you hone in on. Thanks, jerk.
Thnaks for sharing Pete. I would love to see the video on your amp/cab iso room. I want to build one myself but there's a lot of science that goes into it I think.
Excellent tour! Thank you Sir! Great stuff man!
Always a pleasure. Thank you Pete!
Great in depth tour. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and most importantly your time.
Incredibly generous and fascinating to see the behind the scenes. So many great ideas... Have been looking forward to this. Thanks so much!
Wow!!! Thank you for sharing. Sincerely, Pops
very symphatic and well-foundet for a Guitaplayer!
No questions, just a sincere thanks for sharing! Great video, Pete!
Great insight, I learned a few useful tips as always, thanks Pete 🙏
I love this kind of videos. Always learning good stuff from you. Thank you!
Amp switcher reminds me of walking into a car stereo store and each deck has a button, then a different set of buttons for the speakers. Great idea
Thanks Pete for the Tour. The desk looks killer. Amazing studio with so many options.Brilliant lay out.Work flow looks flawless .And the gear amps guitars processors awesome! Thanks
Been looking forward to this one. The new studio looks great! Thanks for posting!
Just some lighting thoughts: For lighting at the desk, you may want to consider a few smaller LED panels mounted across the wall, instead of two on stands. First, you dont have to have the stands, which take up floor space, and can be knocked over. Second, the smaller light sources create sharper shadows, so having three of them spread out can soften the lighting considerably. For a really simple solution, I've even seen someone run three rows of the Phillips Hue strips about 4ft wide across a filming space. Very diffuse and flattering to facial features, plus you can tune the color.
The Ampete Amp Switcher, he was saying there was no other item on the market... Yes there was. RJM RG-16. And if that having 128 presets for amp combinations and channel switching, the Ron could just have explained what else he had. He made the first RG-16's in 2006. Paul Jackson Jr got #1, Dave Weiner got #2, and I got #3 [and I made him sign it in paint marker lol]. Still have it
Thanks for the in-depth studio tour, Pete! Much appreciated. See you on the next live stream!
Your insight, professionalism and love of music are inspiring as always. Thanks man!
I noticed the clamp at the beginning of the video and I laughed out loud when you said it was for displaying pedals! Awesome...
Just amazing Pete !!! Thanks so much for sharing ! So much fun to see where you work. All the best ! Peace :)
Wow Pete! Old-school black Whirlwind cable!!
Stunning studio! I think I definitely need a patch bay! Thanks Pete!
Very discriptive video of your studio and work flow, Pete. Awesome !
Great video! I’m running stereo pedals as inserts where I output the Apollo Cue 4 to a Focusrite Octopre and use the”inserts” on the Octopre to run the pedals. Then it’s back to the Apollo via ADAT. I COULD USE A OATCH BAY!! thanks Pete!
Thanks for posting this info. For me, this is the most valuable info on the channel since I’m also working on my studio.
This is SUPER helpful!!!!!!!!.....thanks Pete
really cool video Pete! Thanks for taking the time to share the details of your studio like that!
I have the exact same two Apollo interfaces (had my silver one since '12) and I'm using both for I/O. Love em. Thinking later in the year of upgrading to one of the new models and "retiring" the original silver. Those Barefoot monitors are awesome. Great video Pete, thanks for sharing.
So timely, I was literally looking into amp switchers earlier today. Thanks Pete
Best thing I've watched all week. I nearly sold my line 6 rack pod but found new life in it based in the control room. Did you do a specific video on the Axe FX? I'll have to search. I'm intrigued by those as an alternative to amps and cabs. I've built numerous 1x12 cabs recently which I can switch between all with different Celestion drivers loaded. So much tone variation available. It's like having the right tyres on your car fit for the present road conditions. Very satisfying and reassuring. Thank you Pete excellent and informative video. Super helpful info on your switchers and patching.
That Godin is beautiful! Hey great space Pete. Looks like you put a lot of thought into it. Thx for sharing some of your new toys. Gave me some gas :) like that Ampete.
Pete, thanks for the tour! I've been struggling with workflow in my home studio and this is really helpful. For reference, what is the interior dimensions of the room?
Super rad, Pete. Thanks for the tour.
Such great stuff Pete! I really dig your studio and your patience to take the time to share your skills!
Thanks for the showing! In the process of building a youtube channel and studio myself.. You have helped me soooo much over the years with products and ways of doing things. Loving's my PT Signature gold top. Just received my Wilkinson bridge the other day from Suhr and plan on a video of that here soon at Schopfield Music. ~cheers
Excellent tour, thanks Pete.
thanks for the much anticipated studio tour part 2.. I wonder what the baseline reading on an EMF meter would be in there? LOL!
Thanks for the info, Pete. Great job on the studio!
Great video !!!! I see Lukather's book on the table, I have to read it! It has to be epic!
Can't wait to see the video of how you set up the isolation room for cabinets. Curious to know how much room you need to pull that off in terms of mic placement and allowing some air to get pushed. Right now I track in the control room with headphones blowing my ears out. I use the Mojave 200 too. It's a great mic for vocals, which I run through an Avalon 737. I also use a SM57 and a Royer Ribbon on my cabinet.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour Pete! And looking forward to the Godin episode. Really would love to learn your approach to effects and recording with that nylon string.
Very cool studio. I didn't understand half of what you were saying, because I don't use any of it, but I understand the basic principles. Your videos and demos sound great, so that's what matters most as a subscriber. Enjoy!
Thank you!! What a very thorough video. Allot of information that i needed. What an awesome set-up you have.
Pete! Your gear is amazing! That hedgehog is simply breathtaking. I thing every amp should have a wood feature. Seems like Suhr and Mesa are the only ones doing that.
Cool studio. Looking forward to part 3.
Man! I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Great vid Pete. Thanx for sharing. Nice set up.
Really cool Pete! Thanks for sharing!
An cool feature of a desk is adjustable height. Often you don’t realize that the height you have been using is not the best for you and a few inches give or take can make a big difference for comfort especially when working many hours. Thanks for the video. Lots of information.
I also bought the Gospel according to Luke !!!
Thanks for the video Pete !!
Just a kick ass vid you've generously shared. How often do we get to see a comprehensive overview like this? (hint: hardly ever)... Thx Pete! You're a good man
Great Studio tour Pete, really good to see how your studio is set up and I can only imagine that thishas helped your work flow increase no end. Thanks for yet another cool video.
I've had dealings with Dennis (Schock) via Dave Friedman and he's helped me and my band out loads, if anyone doesn't know him he's a totally cool guy.
2 things...you are such a gear nerd and I'm hanging on every word !! Excellent video !
Great video. A home away from home. Hopefully this summer you won't need a portable A/C. If the building is kept cool the room should not heat up except for the amps. Heh, maybe you'll use modelers more in the summer? Haha.
I like seeing the basic stuff like how you use transformers and buffers etc. The effects are cool too :-)
Thanks Pete for the tour!
an Axe FX 3, Helix Rack and Kemper. Oh my days so much gearrrrrrr
Pete enjoyed the tour must get back to work now ☺
Killer studio, Pete!! Awesome.
Great video. I’m a bedroom player, so most of this doesn’t apply to me but damn you did a great job of taking us through your studio. You have such a talent for explaining complicated matters in an easy, relaxed way that us lessers mortals can easily follow. Keep up the great great work and I’ll be tuned in on Sunday’s as usual. \m/
