Judy’s voice soars effortlessly - the sound a heart would make if it could sing . All three here are tickled to be singing together ,pure electricity of talent. These three show what true talent is - no back drop, no dancers , no low cut dresses , just three legends having fun and bringing down the house.
To all of the young people who are listening to this kind of music, DO NOT STOP!!! You are helping to keep it alive.
This is classic!
I’m 25, and I watch this since I was 16… just perfect
I hope I won’t stop I’m 14 almost 15 and this music! Frank Judy Ella Nat there all great
This is from 1962 when Judy was 40 yrs old and was Emmy-nominated. She had just come off her world tour and that fantastic 1961 Carnegie Hall showstopper performance. It's available on DVD and I urge everyone to get your hands on a copy. It's a great show!!!
Garland, Sinatra and Martin all together, can it get any better? I love these people so much, my favorite singers in the world.
it's so depressing knowing there will never be greats like this again.
This is the Golden Age of Music . . . . I don't think we'll ever see singing like this at it's zenith ever again!
Amazing! I'm 16 years old and I still love Judy and Frank a lot, more than all these commercial pop singers...
Don't Forget Dean Martin!
This is utterly fantastic. Overwhelming. Sometimes I wish I was old enough to see them perform back then, separately or together.
Three real monsters of talent!
I’ve seen this hundreds of times and it’s never enough!! Amazing talent and elegance. Three legends sharing the stage; how on earth did such a thing happen! Thank you whoever is responsible for this video! (Judy is my favorite, no one can compare)
I could listen to this everyday!!!!!! Such talent!! But my favorite is DEAN such a smooth , PURE voice. the best of all time!!
I feel the same, but Judy is my favorite by a mile!!
Frank and Dean are totally overmatched
3 Stars but only ONE JUDY!!!! I couldn't take my eyes off HER!!! BRILLIANT! We Don't have Stars like THIS, of THIS Caliber Anymore!!! xoxoxoxooo
Judy sang with two men and her voice overpowered theirs. She must have iron lungs.
I think they were gentlemen to sing the song in her best register and use they used their low register
She used to be called “Little Miss Leather Lungs” when she was younger and as she matured, she had the greatest singing voice in the history of show business! She definitely held her own regardless who shared the stage or screen with! Also, even with Dean and Frank on stage, she had such an overpowering stage presence that the viewer only focused on her! The late 50’s and early 60’s when Judy was heavier, is when her voice was the boldest richest and powerful. There’ll never be another person like Judy Garland!
A powerful female singer will always over power and man. It’s because of the higher frequencies in the voice. Not to mention, Judy is one of the greatest belter singers of all time!
Tbf in that last note I mostly hear Frank's voice
That! Oh my...is class!
I wish I could've lived when talent was real and actually had meaning, nowadays anyone can fake it to make it.
1970 - circle star theater - Myself, my sister, and my Nana, walk in, to see "Sammy Davis Jr" - funny, because here is the old lady walking 2 children, and we were the ony white faces in the audience - very cute -But, those days are gone - probably ended around 1974 - But, I think it is significant for students to realize that Americana, in those days - even further back with bing, dezi, etc. amazing times in American culture - forver gone, but not forgotten
Judy was killin it!
The Greatest...and her two friends! :-)
wish they were still here, sing it Judy
Judy Garland is an absolute legend. Even with all that MGM put her through, she was still spectacular.
The Golden years of song and dance! I love Jazz and these great singers were the best!.
It's eerie how those three voices are insync with each other.
I am 58..I was a little too young to really enjoy this wonderful music til later..It is wonderful hearing Judy Garland sing..you can tell she is exactly where is was happiest ..performing..
I remember this special in '62, I was home on leave from the service.
True....I find myself watching Judy the entire song!
Judy was the greatest entertainer of the 20th century.
Michael Jackson, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr are all better all around entertainers.
+PurpleMonkeyDishwasher What planet are you from. You may not like Judy, and that's fine, but, she is the greatest all around talent ever, hands down, without a doubt. There is nothing she couldn't do. She was a tremendous actor, comedic, or dramatic. And, as a Concert or nightclub performer no one was even close. And her audiences sat and listen to her sing, and when she finished they erupted. Listen to The Greatest Evening In Show Business History/Judy at Carnegie Hall, and with that I rest my case. Dean, Michael really. Sammy was great. But, not as great as Judes. No Judy, you don't talent.
No, Elvis was the greatest entertainer of the 20th century and will be for centuries to come. No contest.
World history
AMEN to THAT!!!
Now these were some real talented individuals. I loved listening to all of them sing.
All 3 of them had so much class.
Thanks for putting this up, never seen it before.
I first watched this video years ago, when I was a big fan of Judy!
Love it when Dean and Frank appear at Judy's sides! It's almost like magic!
Doopllo
You're no longer a fan?
What amazes me - with only three ( yes THREE) networks, we had fabulous musical entertainment like this coming into our homes every week. The 60’s and early 70’s really were a golden age of television, we just didn’t realize it.
All three are such legends. This is so wonderful.
OMG, a dream is coming true... three of my favourite musicians of all times together... AWESOME!
OMG! Stop everything and just look and listen to true musical legends at work. Class and talent all rolled into one.
Frank had his dark side but he was always there for Judy. She was broke more than once and even was sued at her lowest point. Frank helped her out. When she died there was no money and he paid for her funeral and to fly in the most important people. He like many of us loved Judy, knew her pain and honoured her remarkable and unique talent. There are no performers like this anymore and certainly none who stand by each other. Great clip... Thank you.
There will never be anyone like them again, true entertainers!
Thank you for this---times when Hollywood had "CLASS"
Garland on her worst day would still wipe the floor with today singers. She had her audiences pulling for her no matter if she reached a high note or not. That is what you call true talent that no matter what she left her fans with an experience no other talent has ever left fans. Watch any duet or dance number Garland is in and you will notice that you really are just watching her and not her partner
Frank Sinatra had it right when he said, " one day they'll forget about me, but NEVER Judy ! " ..Damn, she is just brilliant in this song ...awesome harmony...on " when somebody Loves You" ...OMG ..simply the Greatest !! xo
Three legends. No one like them, until them, and no one like them since. True icons.
This is entertainment and real talent. What a shame we have this no longer.
What a great song. Judy was so talented. Only Dean and Frank could match her is a song like this.
Before watching this, I watched a video of Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis, Jr. performing together, and I have to say that the Garland-Sinatra-Martin combination beats them all. This is to take nothing away from Sammy Davis, who was one of the greatest all-around talents that ever hit show business.
No fireworks going off...j u st an awesome display of talent and damn does Judy know how to work a pair of stilletoes!
Every time I watch this I wish the three of them had done more together on the show then this one song. To me Judy and Frank wrote the book on American popular music. They will never be topped.
superb, star quality everything from real stars. Love the move she makes at the end where she kicks her leg back then does a one two with leg back and arm up
I think one of the big differences between this kind of music and music nowadays is the joyfulness in it. The entertainers seem to take such pleasure in performing, and that happiness is contagious.
Look how great they looked! God what a great time in life
I love them all, but Frankie is my man!!! Ol' Blue Eyes' voice is like soft velvet....so smooth it could melt a heart of ice and stone! Belt it Judy!!
Some people are legends and stay in our hearts and minds forever. Frank, Dean and Judy live through their songs and movies. May God rest their souls in peace.
This rates 10/10 on the cool scale. Brilliant!
Let there be love! I love this tremendous trio! The best there has ever been.
Three GREATS!!!!!!! Love them' Peace
great great great! 3 legends.... I love Judy!
I wish I had seen this live. My God what a day that would have been!
Out of this powerhouse trio, I'm a Frankie gal, but Judy just blew the other two off the stage. Damn, she was something. She may not have looked her best here, as others have mentioned, but there's no denying that crackerjack voice. Wow.
Not about looks... That voice tho! 💕
She looked good, she was hard to dress because of her measurements!
I believe that this Garland special was produced or directed by Norman Jewison, who subsequently directed award winning films, including The Cincinatti Kid, The Russians Are Coming and In The Heat Of The Night. Garland, Sinatra and Martin had previously recorded some of their greatest albums for Capitol Records and both Sinatra and Garland worked extensively with the arranger Nelson Riddle.
this is an era long gone, how great to hear those 3 voice together.
Dean-Sinatra-Garland what more can you ask...? absolutely beautiful, classy and amazing
my God what an era.... the number of big names that walked the earth in those times is still unbelievable...
there is more talent in this video alone than in the entire bag of names/people that you see on tv nowdays...
you know!, time has changed so much, loving these times, more happy:)
this has to be one of the greatest performances ever
WOW , JUDY & FRANK on the same video....classic, wonderful, lovely & GREAT!!!!!!! the two best entertainers of the 20th century!!!!!!!
At the time this Garland TV special was filmed by CBS in early 1962, Judy Garland was by far the biggest name in entertainment, once again. Her 1961 concert tour broke all existing records at the time, and her live album, Judy at Carnegie Hall, had become a national phenomenon-knocking Elvis off the top spot to claim a stunning 13 weeks (over three months) at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, on its way to spending a total of 107 weeks on the Billboard Top 200.
At the same time as fronting a multi-million selling double album, she also starred in one of the biggest dramatic film box office hits of 1961, Judgment At Nuremburg, for which she would get an Oscar nomination.
In early 1962, just before this special, she became the youngest person and first woman to win the coveted Irving Thalberg Award for “contributions to entertainment”. A few weeks later she became the then-record highest paid entertainer in Las Vegas history when Vegas was still a mecca for only the hottest stars (not nostalgia acts).
This special, The Judy Garland Show, was aired to the highest ratings in CBS history. Weeks later, Judy won five Grammy Awards for ‘Judy at Carnegie Hall’-including Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year … making her the first woman in history to win Grammy Album of the Year and first in history to win for a live album.
She and her special with Frank and Dean were nominated for Emmys (she didn’t win-despite many nominations, the Emmy was the only major award refused to her.)
So those who say she didn’t “look her best” here might want some historical perspective. Garland was cutting out the pills that she had been taught since childhood to use to keep her 4’11” frame “camera skinny,” she was healthy and letting herself gain a bit of weight, and had become-again-the biggest star in the world, back in the days when “star” meant something.
Give her a break and enjoy the ebullient talent. Frank and Dean were guesting on her show, at this point … not vice versa.
Very well said. Bravo!
Wow! Judy could sure sing. Powerful voice.
I agree, my 2 favorite singers. And Frank was very fond of Judy---he helped her out several times when she was in a jam.
That was sheer class, all 3 of 'em, timeless and great to see them all together. Sinatra punched a guy once and got sued coz the guy called Judy a dame, even though Sinatra used the term often Judy was obviously not a dame to him! Thanks for the post
classic music heaven. three incomparable voices in one video.
I like how Judy Garland likes to make occasional eye contact with her singing partners, not just in this music but every time she sings.
i wish we still had music like this all these amazing singers have the greatest music i love this
have u noticed that no matter what pitch they sing in u could always here Franks voice. All of them were great
These three had a lot of chemistry on stage because they really liked each other in real life.
I can remember seeing this on tv when I was in my teens..music now is a bunch of crap....
you just gotta love 'em! I grew up with the Rat Pack -- love Judy so sorry she left so soon but we sure do have the internet to reveal in!
They are the perfect combination. Its so crazy. I say I like old things and my friends think im talking about the 80's. Im like no no no. Im 21 I dont think 80's is to old. Iv been liking old things scence I can remeber.
Excellent!! without words...simply amazing song!
you guys were the best and are truly missed even now never to be forgotten thank you for all the memories
Oh my god, too much talent on one stage, i might actually explode.
Class Class Class.Just loved it.Cheered me up.
Judy, Frank and Dean......you know How you spell that combination? " C-L-A-S-S" Beautiful....
Wow! I've always thought Frank and Dean were pretty powerful singers, with very strong voices. However, Judy's voice over powered both. If only she got better treatment from MCM and the help and support she so badly needed. What power house of a voice that Judy had.
The three best singers
What a beautiful harmony of these three famous voices, all unique, but together you can still pick out each individual voice!
Wonderful
This still exists, but you have to find small venue type performances. I watched a redo of Holiday Inn this Christmas in Eugene Oregon. If was fantastic. While the performers weren't Bing, they did a fantastic job.
I love these kind of music and just what Gentry said..it's simple but just the best! thnks for sharing!
brilliant. three legends on the same stage, epitomizing a time of elegance and style in music and entertainment. thank god that era lives on through albums and through videos such as this.
this was the greatest time in entertainment. they had talent back in these days and didnt have to rely on dancing, back up singers, showing lots of skin, etc. like singers do today. dean martin and bing crosby were my favorite.
Superb!...ah those good old days..so much charm back then,so much glamour..i absolutley luv this..thanx for posting.
They are all together again. Rip judy rip frank and rip dean
My kind of music, and the BEST of the BEST performers - thanks for posting - it's going in my faves!
the ending of the SONG is where it got me because of how powerful those lungs are on those TITANS of show-biz. PLUS its LIVE!
i miss you Franky...love blasting your tunes on my MP3 with my Bose in ear headphones,,,,
Soooo Smooooooth!!!
What a trio. . .they didn't miss a beat.
I miss them all.
Thanks for posting
you can't find people like these guys anymore...i'm soo jealous of people who grew up with them....(tear)
I love this vid!
Judy and Dame Shirley are, for me, the greatest voices to ever grace the planet!
God Bless,
HtR
No one dead or alive had a voice smoother or better than Dean!!!!!! love this!!! Thanks
It doesn't get any better then this! Emagine being able to watch talent like this every week! Unreal. I was born 20 years to late. :-( LOVE.
Sheer joy. They bring out the best in one another so effortlessly. Adore this clip.
This woman even eclipsed these two powerhouses! Judy Garland will always be the world’s greatest entertainer, bar none! ❤️
when you go ddown memory lane
this song and this trio will definetely
hit a chord. Fantastic !
Truly awesome! As is the orchestra here as well.
nothing more... we can just keep watching this video and dream of someday seeing them performing live in the other world...
THAT WAS SO AMAZING!!! MY HEAD EXPLODED FROM THE AWESOME!
LOVE Judy and Dean!! Judy is SUCH a STAR!!!
