There’s a reason why TJ is the most well rounded of the characters. He tends to look past kid’s outside and eventually find them just as cool inside.
He's the best friend EVERYONE needs but NO ONE deserves.
When you grow up and realize that the geeks are really the "popular kids" and the cool people are the nerds
the most adult thing is not caring what people think about your hobbies and friends
I think Ned Declassified covered it best with the list. You might not be popular with all the groups, but you are popular in your group. Also why act differently and hang out with people who you don’t share anything in common with.
Someone once said it’s a sad life to live when you start living someone else’s life because you were told to. Granted if their changes hygiene related and acting fair towards your fellow man, listen. But clothes look best when worn with comfort and confidence. And life is better when you hang out with guys who understand you and you them.
You're calling the Ashleys geeks? AS IF!
I don’t that’s true though
"I'd rather stay inside. Too many geeks like Lawson out here" XD
Man up!
I always loved how this show carries a message without shoving it down people's throat. Current ones could really learn from this.
Anyone else think about how mean it is that the kid with the broken leg had to walk down a set of stairs to get to room 51?
Alan Mallagan I had a pretty badly sprained ankle in 7th grade and I had to walk up and down an entire flight of stairs multiple timea a day, it was torture
Its a set of stairs not a mountain. It isnt the easiest thing to do I know, but if you practice with your crutches and have some decent core strength its not too bad.
Once they take the cast off is what i struggled with.
Surely they have elevators.
Agreed; however, went to boarding school on a really hilly campus my last 2 years of high school and tore my ACL my first month in meaning I spent like 80% of my Junior year on crutches and all I can say is high school kids and driven-by-money faculty and staff are dicks and I WISH stares were my only problem.
What bothered me though, is if that’s where injuried kids go, than why are the injured kids that we see get picked before Gus and/or whatever kids they are currently shunning in that episode not in there?
Once rolled my ankle in PE because of stupid basketball I had to walk to the Nurse without help and they could've had a golf cart take me but I guess not anyway it was so bad it kept me out of school for 3 days.
This is just another example of how cool T.J. is. He appreciates everyone on their own level.
Can we appreciate the fact that TJ got 9 levels in D&D in just 5 sessions?
I wish I could do that, but I just started before this Summer, I’m a Level 2 barbarian Goliath...
So that’s what playing with a competent party is like...
Bruh my halfling has been 3 for a fuckin decade
L i t t l e B a r o n Why, Did you quit?
he's a smart guy !
I was laughing when they all got so crazy over Gretchen :)
"*gasps* Gretchen Grundler! The Nerdy Queen Of Beauty!"
"She rocks my planet!" LOL
Carl: Heheheheheheheheheh...
😂😂😂😂
Years later all us D&D nerd react the same way to Gretchen’s VC Ashley Johnson lol
Its actually doughy queen of beauty
"You strange confused lawndweller!"
Best insult ever!
"Oh man, I can hardly look. He caught the stupid ball!" 😂
Is it an out or a foul ball?
@@keatonwestbrook2385It’s an out if you catch it before it touches the ground
What I love the most about this episode is TJ remained friends with the nerd kids and they gave him a communicator watch that gives him 24 hr access to their whereabouts at all times so when TJ needs a heavy duty favor called in he has them at his beck and whim
Yes Spaneli's art work
That’s true. There’s an episode that he utilizes them when the grown ups were about to wash out Spineli’s art work.
I like thinking TJ and Gretchen started going to their weekly D&D sessions and the rest of the gang tagged along to be supportive-
Gretchen or the voice actress who voices her actually plays dnd on twitch she is also in blind spot where they make multiple references to it
@@danialhamilton7666 what's her channel
Supportive sounds like they are going to die
@@danialhamilton7666 Yeah, Critical Role. I'm a huge fan of it.
Really that’s really cool
The days when ComicCon use to be a secret or towards invitations only
It's About Time when were comic cons ever invite only. Comic con has been a famous, huge event for decades
@@MegamaXX500 By invitation I meant that nobody knew they existed unless somebody told you about it. I who was living in the big city didn't even know it was happening in the community Until I just happen to be walking around that neighborhood. The one reason I knew what it was about was because I had been told about it by some cartoonist. This all happening a decade ago. This cartoon we are talking about happened in the 1990s as to why my original comment refers to comic con being so unknown. Today, yeah it's famous.
Cons have come a long way since then.
And it sucks
@@francescolombardi3438 what do you mean it sucks? It being overcrowded? Explain.
what was that like??????
This was my favorite episode when i was small and the picture day episode... now i am 21 years old and it is still pretty awesome, this show needs to be on dvd.
i thought it was hilarious they all have a crush on gretchen LOL
Rarely does that happen
The only thing I find more hilarious than that funny scene is in The Pest where the Ashleys tease Gretchen about the class clown having a crush on her only to actually be jealous that they don't have one.
Some of the best scenes in this show have Gretchen in them.
@@takeshikujo2909 Yeah that's so true, also remember in the episode with the game 'AJimbo' where one of the diggers was talking to the piece and Gretchen says 'That young man is seriously disturbed' XD
I can just see the school dance, with Gretchen walking in with two Pale Kids on each arm and the Ashleys trying to make fun of the act that she went to the dance with nerds but can't hide the fact that they're jealous that despite being dressed to the nines, none of them could get a date.
@@agenttheater5 Pretty much like the scene in 'The Pest' where everyone was teasing Gretchen about Jeffery liking her and Ashley A says "Hey Gretchen, what's it like?" XD
I love how he stuck up for his friends and bested Lawson in the argument
Lawson's final words in the episode are actually kinda depressing. With how he reacts, Frank must have been one of his best friends when he was younger and probably thought his friend disappeared, moved away, or something.
To find out your old friend was here all along but, you didn't know because he simply didn't want to hang out with YOU anymore probably tore him up a bit inside. Lawson maybe be a dick but, even he has his vulnerable moments.
Pretty sure he threw away his right to courtesy and sympathy when he humiliated Frank and his new friends. Learning that about Frank was his just desserts for judging books by their covers.
Lawson referred to him as a “doofus” when he told the story about him getting sent to room 51, I doubt they were ever friends. Lawson just got his ego bruised when a nerdy guy wasn’t intimidated by him.
I love lawson
1:12 “you there, put down that banana!!!” Someone had to put that line in...
I don't get it
"You there, Put down that banana !"
It's crazy to think these episodes are only 10 minutes long. As a kid, they always felt like 30 minutes.
on Disney channel they did fill up 30 minutes. A full episode was two of these stories plus commercials.
He's not just a kid, he's a level 42 sword master
love how they all have a crush on Gretchen.
I was almost 6 years old when this episode came out and I remember the exact day that I saw it, because it truly changed my life. Like, I seriously consider this to be one of the most impactful episodes of children's programming from my early childhood.
I'm curious, in what way did this episode change your life?
I can't stop watching. This show is so good. I can't believe all of these are just on CZcams.
I love how it's "room 51" like area 51! lol
I just got that lol
*"YOU THERE, PUT DOWN THAT BANANA!"*
Why does everything the Finster says sound hilarious😂😂😂😂😂
Because she's that one strict teacher we all know who doesn't care about double entendres.
Love when he calls Lawson a geek! He can dish it out but can't take it in
Thats typical from bullys
as a former "Pale Kid" I've always loved this episode and I think it gets summed up perfectly at the end when Lawson is shocked that it's his old friend
"But Tiny, You're tall!"
"I Have Thrived! I Am Happy!"
He doesn't make excuses or feel bad about himself or his friends!!
YOU THEIR PUT DOWN THAT BANANA
bunganut98 naughty girl
No I will not put down my banana hoe
There*
TJ is on my list of characters that people should strive to be like. he saw every kids’ difference as not something to be shunned, but celebrated, even going as far as trying completely new things. given the time this aired it must have inspired a lot of people to get into tabletop rpgs or be more open about their interests
You are right. Cartoons of this vintage carried an entirely different message to the ones that are shown now. It devastates me to channel surf past the state of cartoon channels now!
No!
TJ is a suckup, whiny annoying kid.
As a nerd I approve of this episode.
Same here I also approve the episode
Thank you Gus for beign the audience's voice for the questions that need answers! 😆😆😆
That was clever making Gus the new kid, so he can always ask about legends.
Frank is voiced by Eddie Deezen, who played Eugene in Grease and Mandark in Dexter's Lab.
Malvin in _WarGames_.
"She rocks my planet!!!" Ah, I always loved this episode. :)
2:16 Don't let Lawson get to you T.J, the people at Room 51 are just like everyone else on Earth, they sleep, eat, drink, study, read, when you get to know them, they're bound to be good people.
I love how they had that twist in this episode. He was Tiny Sedgewick! 90's cartoons at it's finest!
Aww man I can HARDLY look! He caught the stinkin' ball!"
LMAO
Stupid*
NERDS are AWESOME!
Hulk Buster Amen
No, geeks are awesome. there is a diffrence
Hulk Buster right on!
Nerds, Geeks It Doesn't Matter to me They're Alright To Me.
7:30 Gretchen had her own following lol.
I would have thought Butch would be the one to talk about Room 51.
I know right.
I always thought these nerds were cool af when I was a kid. And I still think their cool af now !!! ✌️
The sword of Ganymede now hangs perilously close to your skull!
Needless to say this is the episode where I got my username from
"It's Detpaler and paleeriffic pale-o pals!"
Wat
cause Finster cares more for TJ's health than the other kids. ^,^
3:34 Macross/battletech
3:35 mecha Godzilla
3:46 star wars ( luke callsign )
4:36 dungeon and dragons
Luke wasn't Red Leader or Red One, he was Red Five...
...sorry, I'll see myself out
I think it was obvious that Frank is Tiny Sedgwick because he hasn't changed a bit; still has the same hair and same colour shirt
“And just when you think you’re going, Young man?”
Tiny from Recess has a same voice actor as Mandark from Dexter’s Lab
It's Eddie Deezen.
Those palekids were awesome!! i wished i hung out with them!!!! They're just like me!!!!
They took tj to a conic con!!!!
Ikr?! Jealous!! lol
Lmfao, 0:40
Larson is officially my favorite character.
2:44 sounds like Mandark from Dexters Laboratory
Fluffy Panda same here, Dexter’s lab is great! I used to watch it a lot as a kid
His name's Eddie Deezen for those who don't already know.
I also thought it was the guy from the polar express
@@fxsja6255 It is him.
Don't forget Bart Simpson.
Where were these kids when I was in school? Would have loved to hang with a group like them.
You didn't have anyone who was way into comics, play D&D or watch Star Wars/Star Trek all the time?
If those poor fellows could but see how their cherished interests have been degraded. The world could use more people like T.J. and Frank.
“And they never saw him/her again.” They always say that lol
They say that, but wouldn't Tiny have to go back to class after recess?
8:49 YOU GO, KNARF! :)
9:20 "I AM Tiny Sedgewick!"
9:19 Top 10 Anime Plot Twists
Knarf: "You strange, confused lawn dweller, I am Tiny Sedgwick!"
Lawson: "NANI?!"
"Aww I can't even look. He actually caught the ball!!!!" Lawson is an asshole lol
I Agree I Have Never Liked Him Stupid Lawson
@flytape8490
That's how you heal the collar bone when it's broken. You use the muscles around your collar bone for your arm, right? So, if you keep your arm in a sling, and not move it, the bone will heal. My brother had the same thing done. He couldn't feel his arm when he broke his collar bone.
"Gretchen Grundler! Holy Queen of Beauty!" Lolz
99thJediWarrior the girl who voiced her is super hot these days.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Johnson
You made me search... I didn't regret it!
She rocks my planet
So room 51 is just a casual reference to Area 51
0:43 HE CAUGHT THE STUPID BALL! LOL
In this episode this group plays a D&D game on Thursdays, Ashley Johnson VAs a character on this show. Crit Role does a D&D show on Thursdays, Ashley Johnson is known to guest star on that show from time to time.
Coincidence....
“You there! Put down that banana!”
😂 What?
I like that Finster listened to everything Lawson said and said nothing about what really happened.
5:20 as a D&D player, I can relate to the feels.
TJ was with collecting Senõr fusion comics like I collected Pokémon cards when they first came out.
Except kids with Pokemon cards were pretty popular. At least in my school. They weren't ostracized or looked down on. We had this one kid that had 2 binders full of cards and we were checking it out for trades or just to admire them pretty much daily. Pokemania was at a peak then. No one actually played the game, though. At least not on the playground. We would usually meet at the local gamestore for that.
You can tell TJ and that gang are still young and inexperienced when they don't even realize that their school's 'nerd gang' would be massively into comic books. It's a nerd staple. Sometimes, the things they like and the things the other kids like overlap. For us, it was pokemon cards/merch. Everyone had some and everyone wanted more. Pokemon was the great playground equalizer.
Anyone hear Mandark's(Dexter's laboratory) voice in the blonde nerd?
I love how they end all their stories with "And they NEVER saw him AGAIN"
YOU THERE PUT DOWN THAT BANANA
I spent a project week in school with kids who were playing Lord of the Rings-tabletop - if it hadn't been so expensive and you didn't have to paint the figurines yourself, I would have totally gotten into the hobby myself.
Makes me proud to be a geek
What i love about this episode is how cool it shows Nerds really are since other shows tend to have nerds or geeks being picked on which is too overdone but in reality being geeky is awesome
Its like sheldon, Raj, Howard and Leonard when they were in elementary school haha.
Jioooooo. That one kid is even dark skinned like raj 😂
Lawson reminds the reason why I DON'T miss elementary school...
"Heey! Where are you going tan boy?" 🤣🤣😭😭😭
I bet Frank knows self defense.
Why would TJ think that a bunch of nerds would NOT know who Señor Fusion is???
This makes me want the D&D campaign to start sooner and makes me sad that I'm missing this month's LARP. >.>
It's Mandark/Know-It-All/Almost Every Other Nerd Character In Western Animation, Eddie Dezen!
The blonde kid has the same voice as Mandark. I can almost hear him laugh.
YOU THERE! PUT DOWN THAT BANANA!
Just tried it, and it IS really, really hard to cross my middle finger in front of my ring finger. I also can't perform the hand signs for the Cybertronian Universal Greeting. Mores the pity...
Nerds who like comic books. Who would have thought?
Oh come on, they're just like everyone else in the school.
you're in the wrwrong place
I noticed. They send injured kids their. Why make injured kids like Tiny when he was young with a busted leg go down that many stairs?
Maybe they had an elevator? Also, holy crap 6 year old comment!
I love how the leader nerd got mandark voice from dexter laboratory 😂😂😂
2:16 Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Hold On. Did I Just Hear Suicide Talk From My Least Fav Character IN A KIDS/FAMILY SHOW?!
"I have thrived. I am happy."
"But to be honest, I'd rather stay inside. Too many geeks like Lawson out here." This kid was wise and also hilarious 😂😭
2:44 I know that voice anywhere. It's Mandark from Dexter's Laboratory.
The next to Arnolds "Put that cookie down!!"
Gave me teary eyes from laughter!!!
"How longs that gonna be?" "5 weeks" LOL
2:33 It's Okay T.J, everything will be fine, just stay calm and follow my lead.
That orange haired kid just makes noises😂
Wait, but what about that kid in "The Bet" when Vince was going winner happy? He played against a kid with a broken leg who was OUT on the playground. XDDD So, this episode makes that one make no sense...
some people hide under finsters radar
"she rocks my planet !"
"huuuuurr ^__^"
3:02 me when people in school try to talk to me
Love the little hand gesture. :) Westsiiiiide!
