@@cdl75 they're not off, they're just different. Sam uses the thick end of the stick and obviously has 20 years experience playing these songs. Not going to ruin my experience watching them in Tokyo next month, though wish Sam could be there.

So many bands owe their sound to these guys...the OG's of that chimey rock sound. Yeh.
I'm a fan of Interpol, but I think the OG would be Joy Division.
Lot of "OG"s from way before them. You should check em out. Joy division, Smiths, echo and the bunny men, even U2 was doing very similar stuff. I loved this album when I discovered it in HS in 04, and they were unique as far as current bands at the time, but they're hardly revolutionary.
The Chameleons and The Sound. Listen to Chameleon's "Script of the Bridge" - there are parts of "Turn on the Bright Lights" that are note-for-note.

I wanted to see Interpol so bad but The Independent was sold out before I could get tickets and Outside Lands was way too expensive so I’m really really happy that this was able to be recorded and put up! I never thought they’d actually play specialist! :)

holy shit! they've actually regained the ability to emulate their old sound to a better extent than in 2017. paul's vocal recovery is probably the greatest i've seen in rock. only problem is that pbass. make it a j.

Hes been with them for a while now. I was lucky enough to see Secret Machines with Benjamin long ago. Excellent band

Ah, Good Ol "Interpol", I remember seeing Carlos D. & Daniel K. talking, grinning & laughing as Leslie N. & I were all in the subway together in Queens back in 1995. Then in 1997, Interpol were rehearsing in an adjacent rehearsal room at Funkadelic Studios, while I was rehearsing with a band called The Stamps which I played L. Guitar. Later, Daniel A. Spencer F. & I watched them perform at Don Hills Club. The first show was a Tiswas evening, the 2nd was a performance for the "chosen few" only. Then Later a female voice in the night was heard saying, Richard is better than Interpol, Interpol sounds like Joy Division, Richard can
play anything, as Sam, Interpol's drummer told the femme to shut up & get into the taxi cab. (True Story) NYC.
