    Very informative. Very good display of running cable, teminating and program radio to turn on camera in reverse.

  • @dmicksimmonsnorthcarolina3298

    Thanks for video. It gave me the confidence to install that same camera on my 2005 Ford F150 Super Crew with no problem. Works like a charm.

    Thank you for this. Also if you're down there by the rear plate you can tap into the trailer harness (behind plug) the reverse is the middle one and on Fords at least Purple but do a quick google of your year/model for color. I did this when i added in bumper reverse lights in my 96 F150

    • @Kgoutdoor
      @Kgoutdoor Před 2 lety

      Yea. But if I want it to work with the reverse lights wouldn’t I need to bring it to that?

    Thanks! I have never done anything like this and was wary. This video showed me what wire to splice into and I have a similar stereo, so I could plug right into it as well.

    Good video! I watched your double din install video too and helped me quite a bit. Actually bought the same head unit as you unintentionally, so the install was identical. This backup camera install was just what I needed. Keep up the vids for your 04 f150 mods! It helps some of us a lot...

  • @jayhawker03

    Just something to note, if you are good with soldering there is no reason to spend the money on an rca extender. You can just splice the RCA and attach any wire you have to extend it. This might cause a little bit of signal loss normally, but with the low quality of a backup camera and an aftermarket display, I did not notice a difference.

  • @Reignuk731
    @Reignuk731 Před 6 lety +2

    just curious, if you connect the red wire to the light and the other end that is with the rca to the reverse wire wouldn't that eliminate the third wire you added from the light to the reverse wire?

    The guy at Best Buy hooked up the wires for me. The camera is functional, but I didn't want to pay them $100 for something I can do myself. What do you think is best way to run the wires from front to back-installing the camera atop the license plate.

    • @rickyb5285
      @rickyb5285 Před 6 lety +1

      Paige MacBeth I followed this video and ran my wires through the floor grommet and used the black loom to protect the wire. Zip tied along under the truck to secure everything all the way to the licence plate.

    • @jayhawker03
      @jayhawker03 Před 4 lety

      I would check your power and ground, oftentimes with these trucks it's the ground. The best thing to do is find an unpainted piece of chassis metal and ground it there.

    • @fwearty

    Question, wiring the camera like this only allows you to see the camera in reverse correct?

    • @jikajikasafaris9682
      @jikajikasafaris9682  Před 8 lety +1

      Stan Darsh yes if you want to see it anytime else then you need to give it constant power but check your camera before you do this because some burn up if they have constant power

  • @noganl
    @noganl Před 7 lety +1

    Thanks for the video. When i wired the reverse light i saw that it was purple/black. I found the purple/black one here (czcams.com/video/9bItFNHWLYY/video.htmlm49s) and ran it from there to the head unit. Same thing just less wire if you are able to find it.

    I installed a back up camera in my f150 07 but there is no image. The screen is black. I already checked the power cable and it is working. I checked with 2 different rca cables and it is the same. Could the camera be defective?

  • @fwearty
    @fwearty Před 7 lety

    Will the guidelines displayed on the radio coordinate with turning of my steering wheel automatically or is there an extra step?

    • @jikajikasafaris9682
      @jikajikasafaris9682  Před 7 lety

      Donald McCann Jr I'm not sure I understand the question

    • @fwearty
      @fwearty Před 7 lety

      So the lines that show on the screen when the vehicle is put in reverse are called guidelines, used to help you gauge on where to guide your vehicle when reversing. They're kind of like "/ \" this. When you turn your wheel left, they should move themselves into arched lines to show where your vehicle will mostly go, judging by the direction and how deep your left turn is into your preferred parking spot.

    • @noganl
      @noganl Před 7 lety

      Some cameras have adjusted parking lines to show where you will go. I forget if it is based off of the software for the camera or the software for the head unit.

    • @jikajikasafaris9682
      @jikajikasafaris9682  Před 7 lety

      The guidelines are a fixed frame it is not like some of the newer cars I have ridden in where the lines bend to where the car is backing up

    • @jayhawker03
      @jayhawker03 Před 4 lety

      @@fwearty This is not something that is usually possible with aftermarket solutions, as the camera would need input from the angle of the steering wheel in order to predict trajectory. This type of software prediction usually requires a fully electric and computerized steering system, which to my knowledge the 04-08 F150 does not have.
