      Wow, never thought of myself as the "older generations", I thought that was my grandparents! Its not quite as easy to learn when you get older, but still just as fun. Glad to see the word Stoked is still around, that was our go to word surfing and skateboarding in the 70's and now I am stoked on inlining and having a blast learning!

      That's great to hear! My whole reason for the channel was to try and get older people to stay active in any way possible. I am new to skating, but not to adventure. I have been active all my life and you are on the right track, don't ever stop. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest and not merely survived, and too many older adults have lost their sense of adventure.

    Wow, what a progress, well done! Lots of inline slaters are afraid of that volcano element on the skatepark, btw in Poland I heard it to be called a mushroom 😁 I didn't have an opportunity to try one out as we don't have it in either of the three skateparks in my town, but it does look challenging. So well done finding courage in yourself going up there! 💪

    • @theaverageoldguy
      @theaverageoldguy  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Huge difference with the wheels. I still can't generate speed like I want, but that will come hopefully. My skates are really flexy and I think that robs some of the power transfer, but I'm sure most of it is lack of technique. Been working on that a lot lately.

      @theaverageoldguy  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@RollinRainier I was thinking of some USD Sway's. Seen lots of good reviews of them. I like the ones without the 45 strap. I'll probably stay with anti-rocker to keep the stability and weight down, every ounce saved is a little higher I can jump. My son is looking at getting some freestyle frames, but I like the idea of rolling across edges with the anti-rocker wheels. You have any suggestions?

    • @RollinRainier
      @RollinRainier Před 6 měsíci

      @@theaverageoldguy I would also suggest looking at the new Standard - Omni skate. Brand new skate from the owner of 50/50 and just created his own skate and looks like it would be a great inexpensive option. USD is good and I know people like the Sway and the price point is good on those as well.

    What skates do you have !

    • @theaverageoldguy
      @theaverageoldguy  Před 6 měsíci +1

      They are Story skates, all I could afford at the time. They started out as flats and I put plastic anti-rocker wheels in the middle two slots to give me a little more stability and lighten them up. The anti-rockers rattle badly because the skates have thinner 6mm axles, but they work for me. The stock wheels began to lose speed almost immediately and removing the 2 middle wheels didn't help that at all, thus the new wheels. The skates are really comfortable, but very flexible both front to back and side to side, and the buckles are thin and I can't get them too tight or they pop open. The "soul" area is small, but less of a problem than my own knee issues. Since this is my first pair of skates, I have nothing to compare them to, but feel like they have been fine to learn on up to this point, though I do plan on an upgrade in 2024 if I can afford some new skates.
