The brown trout season closed on Sunday (28 April) here in Tasmania. I look forward to watching your fishing session during our off season (fly tying season). I haven't seen the Doon for nearly 20 years, such a bonnie wee river. Many thanks.

Thank you Davie so much for sharing your day with us. Beautiful scenery and success on the water is a bonus… I really appreciate that you always show the flies and gear. I am a big user of Fulling Mills boxes and tying materials but I didn’t realize they had tippet. I will need to order some and give it a go here in the USA. Also, look forward to tying a few of these flies up…always love the dynamite Harry’s. Thanks again.

Fishing on a bluebird day like this can be a little tough; but it still beats a day at work! 😅

Hi Davie! When you said you dried your fly it got me thinking about my CDC hoppers. After a fish they dont seem to float anymore. any tips on how to keep them bouyant for a few fish rather than changing every time I get a fish? If anyone has any tips its appreciated

Keep an elastic band or the band off the tippet spool and just ping the fly off of it when it gets wet

Thoroughly wash it, dry it as best as you can, hook it on a thick rubber band, pull your line stretching the rubber band, and then pluck the rubber band like a guitar string. The vibration will sling the rest of the water off.

CDC needs to be treated with waterproofing before you fish. When it is dyed all the natural oil is washed out. A application of floatant is needed, I use some good old Musilin
