  • Hey everyone! So here we finally have my last installment for my Prompto Worklogs. I might make another part later on showing the creation of the smaller things like his gloves, boots & some wig styling but I'm a little undecided currently.
    These videos have been a lot of fun to share with all of you despite the stress the cosplay has caused me thus far. You can expect more details on my #cospain in the future 'Cosplay Mistakes' video I'll be creating for Prompto. Trust me when I say there is a lot to talk about in that video lol.
    I hope you all enjoyed these worklogs and look forward to my future projects! Feel free to ask me any questions you may have as well. I've enjoyed helping everyone lessen their own pain as best I can!

    Your patches turned out so clean~! O___O And oh god I'm having stud installation flashbacks. (Why is this costume so much suffering?!)The vectored shirt turned out wonderfully though, definitely a smart solution to avoid all those hours of hand painting! ^O^

      Thank you! My hands are definitely NOT steady enough to do the shirt with paint. I really did try but after about 2 hours with hardly any progress that wasnt near my standards I decided to spend a little more $$ and just get it printed lol. Dont even get me started on the studs though because the ones in this video are actually the 5th set I purchased x_x Its been a nightmare really lol.

    Thank you SO much for these videos, they've been immensely helpful (why is this boy so extra???). I'm having a hard time finding studs that work and was wondering where you purchased yours. Thanks a million!

      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety

      Hi there! Youre very welcome! The studs were actually one of the hardest parts for me as well, I think I purchased over 400 studs that didnt work for him at all. Because I needed to feed them through the thick denim and 'undershirt' of my vest they needed a long stem. Easily enough I found some good ones at hobby lobby in their leather crafting section - bit.ly/2tY5set - I just spray painted some of the gold and they worked perfectly!

    Great job on this! You really put a lot of work into it, and I'd say it was worth it judging by the amazing outcome. I'm trying to follow your tutorials on this cosplay, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch, and I was really hoping you might consider sharing the pattern for the shirt? Thanks so much in advance for any help you could give!

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety

      Hi! I'm really glad this tutorial is helping you! Honestly I wouldnt recommend my pattern. I had to do a lot of reshaping to get it to fit the size of the website I used which I found to be way overpriced for lesser quality (around $50!! crazy!) so I actually have to redo it to get a better shirt made. There are some on redbubble though that all you'd need to do is take the sleeves off as I did in this video - rdbl.co/2tzAkP6 - and even cheaper, theres an already made tank on aliexpress - bit.ly/2szvsIy - I hope this helps!

    I swear your Videos are the best ever for a Prompto Cos!
    Just quick question: Where did you find the Reference Shown at I.e. 0:34?
    If it was simply on Google and I'm too dumb to search for it properly, mind providing a Link if you still have it? ^^"

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 4 lety

      Hello! Sorry I got to this comment so late it was being held by youtube for some reason. When I made this costume there werent many references out there so I took a lot of in game screenshots. Now though a lot of shops actually sell the Prompto patches so you can definitely take a look at theirs for ideas! Heres a google search link that brings up a lot of images of Prompto's patches :) I hope it helps - bit.ly/2Am6q95

      Hi! Im glad you like the tutorial! I made my own patches via vectoring my own images, digitizing them in software & then embroidering them on my machine. I have made a post here on my tumblr though with a list of alternate resources for those looking to make or purchase their own patches, I hope it helps! -- bit.ly/2ll8Eb5

    Hey! I'm struggling so hard finding good references of Prompto's pants so I can know the order of the gold and silver studs. I noticed you seems to follow the order pretty closely (at least from what I can see on the vest) and was wondering if you might be able to point me in the direction of some good reference images? All I'm finding on Google are either blurry or cut off at his waste. Cries. If not thanks for the great work log anyway-I really loved following your progress as I have been working on my own Prompto cosplay! Hope A-Kon was fab!

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety

      Hi there! First off, thank you so much I'm really glad youve enjoyed the worklogs! Prompto is such a great character but his costume is literally a nightmare lol. I kind of just made up the order of the studs, trying to put a gold every 2 or 3 studs. Unfortunately the official brand Roen that designed the clothes used all gunmetal studs but in game Prompto has alternating. There arent any really good shots for the pants but these two for the vest give an idea of the sporadic spacing - bit.ly/2rF0PFn & bit.ly/2rFp71V - In the end I just placed them how I thought looked good lol. I hope that helps a little!

    • @telekineticManiac
      @telekineticManiac Před 7 lety

      Yikes that's unfortunate that the brand just went for all one color... But thanks so much that info is really helpful and thanks for the vest close ups too-those will come in super handy!!

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety +1

      Yeah! The official clothing shop has a few differences from the in game images so on those I just had to use my own judgement. In the end though I think it allows for a more unique cosplay because each person can do what they like more! Im glad the pictures help, good luck on your Prompto!

      Hello, what size studs did you use? I don't want to order them and have the studs the wrong size. thanks.

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 6 lety

      Hello! Sorry, I had trouble finding this comment since it was a reply to another from a while back lol. I used studs that were 3/8" (9.5mm-10mm) from the leather working section in Hobby Lobby. Hope that helps!

    hi! where did you buy your skull buttons from? i've been looking for ones that will work but i can't find any >__<
    also, what website did you order the custom shirt from? :O

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi! I got the buttons off of ebay - ebay.to/2qcOT8u - and the shirt I had printed through Bagsoflove.com . However, it was fairly expensive and I feel like had i shopped around a bit more I could have found a better price, so definitely look around a bit before committing to them!

    • @SocksBX

      thank you so much!! and i'll look around!!

    • @SocksBX
      @SocksBX Před 7 lety

      thank you! :D also, random question, but do u know where you got your sponge brush from? i've never used one before and i'm afraid im going to get a bad quality one >_

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety +2

      Hi again! I got my sponges in a little pack from hobby lobby - bit.ly/2qiBZXe - and then my sponge brush from Joanns - bit.ly/2oSO1EJ - they were both really helpful but any type of sponge like this will work as it offers a much softer application and ease of blending. I will say, I didnt get them wet at all and just used them dry because I found it worked much better! Just start with your darkest color for weathering and slowly work your way up to the lighter colors. Remember to take a step back every few minutes and take pictures with your cell phone and stuff to get a better idea of how its coming along. It really helps! Let me know if you need anything else im happy to help!

      @HatterInsanity  Před 3 lety

      Hello! Im sorry i dont have the files for Prompto anymore :( sadly my old computer pooped out and I built my new one about a year ago but I lost all the files on the old one. I know some shops sell the shirt now and I think i even saw it on redbubble a while back! Hopefully youre able to grab one that works!

    For his muscle shirt how did you make the design and where did you order it from??

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi! For his shirt I just made the lines in photoshop to the best of what I could see. There are some patterns and even premade shirts you can buy online now though that werent available when i made mine - bit.ly/2GLjmpY - I ordered my shirt from bagsoflove but i wouldnt recommend it. Overpriced for low quality. Instead i'd try ArtsCow!

    How many studs did you use? I got 200 for myself, but watching this, I think it won`t be enough...

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety +2

      For my own cosplay I used about 250 10mm studs. But the amount you need will mostly be determined on your patch size & how close together you put them. I would try portioning out how many you want to use around each patch, you can definitely make 200 work im sure!

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi! I dont see why it would be a problem? I just removed the backs and glued them on because my vest already had built in snap buttons. You can rig it up to work with whatever suits your vest and buttons best!

      @NathanElena Před 7 lety

      how many skull buttons i need to get?

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety

      Hi! It all depends on your vest. Prompto has 13 buttons while my vest has 9. The vest will need a button on each front pocket, at least one on the back strap parts and however many front buttons your vest has!

    • @NathanElena

    • @HatterInsanity
      @HatterInsanity  Před 7 lety +2

      oh no lol! I started painting it but after 2 hours and only 4 semi-straight lines i was like gtfo with this lol. So i went a different route (but a more expensive one for sure)
