People in Pakistan after saying Salam start commenting how you should loose weight. Conversation starts with app motai hogai ho ya app patlai hogai ho! That's the society's mindset. Moti aunties would comment on your weight like as if they are slim themselves. 🙄

I remember loving Uroosa Siddiquis work, her comedy, natural charisma and acting in general was so fresh and unique. I loved her on screen but i would remember people watching would laugh and say 'if only she lost weight, she would be so pretty.' And it used to frustrate me so much, and I also recall her being on a morning show and an actor made a joke of her weight. Its so unfair how we cannot represent all types of beauty and women in our society and that is clearly mirrored in dramas. Also I have to comment on Amna, your hair looks beautiful today! xxx

I was chubby for every issue in my life the main cause always stated was “weight” by my family & in- laws. And mentioning that my family and in-laws are highly educated. Family of doctors/engineers.

Takkey ki ayegi baraat was such a remarkable drama. Ah the golden era with natural storytelling. Geo in 2021 could never. I would argue Salma Hassan (Sana Javed’s mother in Dunk and yumna’s mother in PKS) is an example of someone who’s not size zero in our industry but then again she is always casted as the ‘mother’ of the lead size zero actresses, reinforcing the ideal lead character being fair skinned, petite girl.

At work and everywhere else too, thin people do get to talk alot about other things but fat ones/overweight ones are always the topic of discussion for their weight.. i think there should be dramas like oye moti, oye ghitee, oye kaali.. because our society is v jaahil. And probably seeing how their words effect a fat person might give them a little time to reflect on their zubaan.. even after having kids, Women are called these things. There are many overweight actresses. Sania saeed has always been bulky. The girl hiba in fitoor is not the thin thin type.. nadia afghan is bulky.. salma hassan is bulky. On a side not, what are you doing here watching this video? You are the awaam you are complaining about. Is rhis essential ramzan viewing? Honestly, I haven't seen this particular episode of Oye Motti, or any episode for that matter, but judging by the premise explained by Hasan here, the concept and story does actually seem interesting and something that was written and executed in the good spirit for the favor of the Overweight people. Yes, they should have cast the plus size actress, but I don't find anything obnoxious about the plot of the episode. I have closely seen the struggle of overweight people and in our society, a girl's weight comes in check the most at the time of her wedding in our society. I understand where was Amna coming from, as she said that we have to normalize plus size people, but at the same time we have to show what actually is happening in the society and what should be our approach towards it. This particular series' central concept is the struggle of plus size people, so the episode had to revolve around that idea, it couldn't be subtle. Also, every plus size person's experience is different, maybe for Amna it wasn't always a challenge that she had to deal with, but there are overweight people who are judged, bullied and made fun of every day, even by their loved ones, all this because we as a society still fail to realize that how sensitive sometimes it ca be for the plus sized person. I can say more on this, but I'm really not very fond of typing, but I'd love to make videos and I wish to start my ow CZcams channel soon.

Agree with everything you have said. Eons ago when I was growing up, people were fat, thin, medium sized most of the time. A very few were really obese and apart from these who did face some good natured leg pulling, people were very comfortable in their own particular skins. No bride stopped eating before her wedding to achieve the size zero look. They would rather want to look fresh and healthy and rosy cheeked. You were not meant to hide pallor and cadaverous looks under layers of expensive makeup.
The problem arose when medical research quite rightly linked a number of common diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc. to overweight and obesity. This was accompanied by an epidemic of obesity, esp. in affluent societies but surprisingly also among less affluent third world countries.
The fact that the world of fashion promoted size zero models for many years hasn't helped the cause of the overweight. Besides, body shaming doesn't help. It actually aggravates the problem in many cases by leading to depression. It would be so wonderful if people who need to lose weight to stay healthy are helped to do so in a lovig, sensitive and supportive manner. And no one is expected to fit into a predetermined mould of so called beauty determined by pundits with vested interests. Let people be diverse, healthy and happy, please.

I remember Alia Bhatt saying during an interview for Gully Boy that Safeena wearing a hijab should not be made into such a big deal. It’s just a part of who that character was. I completely understand now what she meant. That movie so beautifully showed Safeena as a young girl who chose to wear a hijab when she wanted to. Not in your face preaching but subtle inclusion.

Couldn’t agree with you more - we need to get rid of this notion that only fair, thin girls with long hairare beautiful. As you said; someone who is on the heavier side, dark skinned, has had a limb amputated etc are also beautiful.

Ramzan dramas have always been there and quality worthy be it Chaudvin ka Chand or Kis din Mera Viyah Huwe Ga 1. They provide a comical relief along with the Ramzan routine. So, kindly don't make everything controversial, you don't have to review everyone of them.

Being an over weight person all my life i can vouch that all fat people who are ridiculed or even taunted about their weight that they are not eating parathas and makhans , they have underlaying emotional issues , hormonal issues and are making bad decisions when it comes to food to suppress emotions . most of the taunts are normalized to the extent that they are accepted in society as small talk. major face palm on the directors and writers.

I respectfully disagree, I loved the episode! The concept & core plot point of the episode was so nice. I mean it showed not everything is about the physicality of a chubby person. It has got to do with health!! End mai when you get to know the twist that the boy (Furqan Qureshi) liked her the moment he saw her, why he did what he did was that he cared about her health & that's why he wanted her to lose the weight..
