Hi there, I was just diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia via biopsy and my dermatologist gave me the options of PRP alone or Eurothreads for collagen regrowth. I was going to lean towards PRP but now after watching your video I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion?

      Hi hkitten,
Female pattern hair loss is not associated with collagen deficiency. I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, but some patients with moderate to advanced loss can benefit from a second injection at about 18 months after the first (for no extra charge). PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely. Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent to a sudden hair shed. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Doctor, my doctor told me about combination of PRP with hair cocktail..have you ever heard of hair cocktail? Wondering what is that and if it works.

      Hi Jenny Tn,
A "hair cocktail" may mean anything. We perform the Hair Regeneration treatment, which can be considered cocktail, but is customized through an algorithm specific for each patient, and we are clear about what's in it from our videos, and my response to your comment on the other video. If a doctor is not clear about what's in their "cocktail", I would be apprehensive about it. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Do you have a referral doctor in Dallas, Tx that does this procedure?

      Hi,
We don't currently offer the treatment in Texas, but we do have patients coming in from Texas regularly for this treatment, along with many patients coming to New York or Virginia from around the country and around the world for the Hair Regeneration treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the New York or Virginia. Many patients actually get back on the plane or train, or drive back home the same day as treatment, but to be sure you could do this for a flight, I would assess your general health condition first. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Amiya Prasad, M.D. Thanks for your response Dr. Prasad. I've gone to the Dermatologist and have been diagnosed with Genetic Alopecia. Was given Spiro and use Minoxil. The Spiro pills give me a headache and extremely tired. PRP seems the best route. Thanks

      Hi again,
I hope you watched the video closely because I explain the varied success rate of PRP alone, which I don't use in my practice to treat hair loss. You will likely have trouble seeing results with PRP alone after multiple sessions, so I wouldn't say it's the best route. Just letting you know before you are frustrated with PRP treatment alone, which happens to a lot of patients before they come to see us for the Hair Regeneration treatment.
