Really liked this review. I can understand people not liking the PPI but most comments I see complaining about that are productivity users. I want this only for gaming and media consumption and this review sealed the deal
@streamx3m correct
Idk if you bought it already or not. But im a university student that games during the night and I have multiple Windows open during my productivity hours. Never had an issue. Can recommend.
Came here for the monitor review and noticed you seem to have the same MSI desktop as I do at least visually. Apart from the helpful review itself this actually had the added benefit of giving me a visual idea of what this could look like on my desk :).
This is the best video i have seen of this monitor. Tempted to upgrade from my 32 inch ultragear
Thanks for the review. I think this has convinced me to buy one, I just might have to wait until the next gen turns up or price drops a little more. I've budgeted for the PC build and as per forgot to budget for software and peripherals 😭
really loved your setup
Yay, another tech video from my favourite CZcamsr ❤💪
Thanks for the mon intro. Great review! Just placed my order. Btw, what model is your ergo chair? 🤔
Great review bro!!!!!
big man, what monitor arm do you use? It looks very sturdy
Which monitor support did you use for LG 45 monitor? Good review! and thanks
As a fellow OW2 enthusiast you sold me on this monitor!! I’m gonna wait another month or two to see if there’s an upgraded model before I buy
Yes I laughed when you put racing sim and Forza Horizon in the same sentence! Sweet display, love LG OLED period.
Nice showcasing. I'm pretty happy with my 34" ultra wide. That said, I wouldn't mind upgrading but I don't have the right table to accommodate. Anyway, can you please tell me if that background image @6:01 is from Windows or an image of your choosing?
You're a great reviewer!
I'd love to learn more about the PiP and PbP features! How does it work? Does it have to be two completely different sources? Can it be from only one source? etc.
Thanks! Great videos man!
Just bought a G8 Odyssey 34 inches Oled then this video shows up.
Matt finish is something I avoid and
What stand are you using with this? What's the PS5 experience like on this monitor?
What's did you enjoy more. This or the 32inch 4k neo g8?
Great update, dude!
Did you ever get round to visually comparing this monitor to your Lg C2 in lowlight/no light conditions?
I.e. I know the matte coating let's it down in daytime/light rooms, but in the dark are the blacks as black and the colours as vibrant as the C2?
Thanks. Keep up the good work 🙏
he never replies to comments :(
theyre not comparable, led monitor vs led monitor for fairness, really others has their limitations regardless of reso or anything
Can the "knob" that come with the stand be transfered to a monitor arm ? Thats versatility would be great
fast forward I ended up pre ordering the odyssey 57'' let me know if it will fit on your arm if you plan on getting it
What is like working on it? The curve is very aggressive. What if you code and do some basic work on it?
how do you like a regular desk and have you ever tried a sit stand desk?
Does this monitor have a built-in crosshair function?
What office chair is that? Looks good
Does the full wide aspect ratio setting of the monitor stretch the cutscenes in games to avoid black bars??
do you stream with this monitor ? do you have to split anything or play things in full screen
Which one would you best recommend between oled g8,neo g8, the alienware aw3423dw and this one? I'm looking for my ps5 and pc to use👀
Very helpful review, thank you! You mentioned you're gaming at 3440x1440 with your RTX 2070 (same as me!) on RDR II and Cyber Punk 2070; could you please elaborate what GPU settings (quality) you're using for this resolution and the FPS you're getting??
For a minimalist tech you have a maximalist experience. I enjoy your content.
This guy ain't no minimalist, he's a gigachad but a wannabe minimalist💀
My big bro would play his ps4 on a 24inch 480p tv 💀
N he works in tech thats a real minimalist
It's the new buzzword
Is low ppi on this monitor noticeable when you lean close?
Can u do a vid of the best controllers for fighting games pls 🙏🏼
when the camera rotate you have that terrible blur effect on 3d models or this disappear forever?
I have this monitor to,had a question when I go to nividia panel it says selective panel is not validated, I have adaptive sync on,just wondering why it says that,I have a nividia 4080 graphic card.
one big question, can you see pixels? since it's only 100ish DPI? sitting that close 1-2 feet.
Did blizz actually fix OW for ultrawides or is the vert still cut off?
Just bought this and cannot figure out how to use it with my 2019 Macbook pro. Any advice on how to conect it? The HDMI > USB-C adapter makes the image unusable and in a red hue. Hoping I dont have to return it.
after a long time thinking about whether I should get the LG 45GR95QE or the samsung oled g8, but I pre-ordered the 45GR95QE today because of your videos. I'm so excited for the monitor
And did you keep the LG or did you bought the G8 OLED?
@@Kaspar0v I kept the LG 45! i love it and the size is just perfect for movies and games i was also afraid that the resolution would not be enough for me but it is so big that you automatically sit further away and it is perfectly okay
@@Exbelior I do have the odyssey G8 OLED and I like how QD-OLED is, but I want something bigger because I normally used to a 38 inch, but they don’t sell that in an OLED. My only concern is the resolution and the size of the monitor because you got a 1080p PPI screen with that size and resolution, but I am glad for you that you are happy with it.
may i ask how the monitor is after 2 months use would you recommend it ?
@@scar-76 The monitor is great, the size is perfect, the resolution is good enough, I only had a few problems with dead subpixels, but because the LG support is so super nice, that's no problem either
Where did you get that cool backround?
First of all, great video and nice setup tho. One question, I have the same monitor since 2 days, after some configuration and FW Update i am pretty convinced about the good and impressive quality of the monitor specially for gaming but I‘ve seen that you not gaming / using HDR in gaming, may I ask you why you do not playing in HDR and whats your settings ? Thanks in advance.
HDR is personal preference. I leave it off because the monitor already looks great IMO
Hey that’s a nice Tom Delong es-335!
Is the 27 display old is good for both gaming and regular use
FINALLY a good review for gamers lol thanks!
I have a question, sorry to be late to the party but is this the type of ultra wide that can do split screen functions. Like if I was live streaming or making gaming videos, one side is windows running the capture program/ Twitch stuff while the other half is like me playing the actual game console/pc game. I ask because I know there is a latency thing with how streamed content is live and with my new desk I can't simply use my tv for that purpose anymore. So I need a second monitor. I tried looking into this but didn't really find any answers.
mmm i have the same monitor but im using Displayport in my pc and i get 240hz...... its better to use HDMI?
Using the monitor to play games is amazing
Biggest criticisms aside from price would be the low PPI (like a fullhd monitor) and a brightness of 200 nits. Unfortunately, you didn't address that.
Can u do a vid of the victrix bfg vs the dualsense edge pls
holy shittt this loooks crazy to game on.
Do you know a size bigger than the 32inch 16:9 but that is not a ultrawide or wide display. I'm looking for a monitor like the 32inch in the same height or bigger or same height but a bit wider. I would think the 34 would be the next step but the height is the same as a 27 and it's just wider. Know any monitor that's like the 32 but not being as big as a 40inch one
hi what monitor arm you using, we have same monitor by the way
Hey, which do you think is better?
The Ultragear 45 inch or the Lg C3 in 42 inch?
I am not sure which one to buy?
Thanks a lot and best regards
If you can accommodate such a large display, I recommend the C2/C3. Way higher resolution, better pixel density, glossy coating, lower price (C2). Only if you really need 240 Hz, the 45GR might make sense.
qd oled with gloss finish is going to be the way to go.... Double strobing solutions are necessary to completely get rid of the blur though
QD-OLED is amazing but WOLED with MLA is very good as well, much better than regular WOLED tech. QD-OLED and WOLED + MLA is top tier tech today.
@@Dr.WhetFarts MLA I hear has washed out colors, but then again QD-OLED doesn't do that great with white scenes so both are still flawed in nature.
Do you know if the monitor runs with a rtx 3060 in best quality?
Curious about the weight. I've got a g9 and it was really hard to find a monitor arm that could handle it. Any issues with monitor arms? Does your's support the weight easily?
Oh heck ya, this one is pretty hefty. Feels like it could easily hold more. This monitor with cables all in i believe is 24lbs. The G9 is hefty too though. I'm pumped to check out the G9 OLED when it launches
@@MinimalisTechcan you provide us your monitor arm? I bought this same monitor and have a cat and need to mount it as it’s too thin, that he might push it over.
You are able to play the Xbox and PS5 full screen?
I just took it back. The pixel density I could live with but the brightness was terrible.
is this monitor with build-in speakers?
I bought it, it's the one I liked the most, it's super fast, OLED, and 240 Hz, and I don't just use it for gaming, it's perfect.
Surely the pixel density is terrible. I would really like to see one in the flesh before buying one
I need this for real 😳
How's the PPI with it being only 3440x1440 @ 45" ? I really wish it had a slightly higher resolution ... I currently have a 38" 3840x1600 Ultrawide and think going to such a low PPI will be pretty poor ;(
we need a oled 3840x1600 ultrawide
hi, how is it for work? I had a really bad experience with an LG C2 OLED as it dimms a lot when having like an MS Word or spreadsheet opened.
I didn't experience any dimming etc. Only thing is the 45" screen size has a low PPI so text isn't as clear as it could be for productive work. There is the newer 39" model coming out soon though, I think that would be the sweet spot. Probably more expensive though.
@@MinimalisTech thank you!!!
awesome monitor. PLEASE tell me what kind of vesa arm you use.. any link would be welcome. thank you
Yo! It's this one - geni.us/Monitor-Arm
it's gotta be able to hold this heavy ass monitor. Plus it's legit an all around great monitor arm.
@@MinimalisTech thanks a man! You're a great help 🙂
I have this monitor and I love it the only thing I could possibly pick at is just the stand it comes with. I understand it needs to be the way it is cause how big the monitor is but other then that I love it and the slight price drop I got it at was not bad for 1200$ for an open box
Oh man! lucky you. Open box deals have been sweet at Best Buy I've seen.
I love the versatility of throwing mine up on a big monitor arm, it's been sweet.
@@MinimalisTech what arm do u use man trying to find a good one to use just don’t know what one
@@SP3AKS this is the one I’m using. It’s pricey but I wouldn’t wanna risk the monitor dropping. It would gouge my desk and prolly break the panel
geni.us/HEAVYMONITORARM
@@MinimalisTech hey man price does not matter just would rather the monitor be safe lol cause the deal I got will not come around anytime soon I got a crazy deal so I would rather spent the money then one random day it just falls off the arm
Hey, what keyboard is that my dude?
THIS is the monitor I want.
Did u play with ur ps5 sitting next to the monitor ? Cauz it’s been said that the ps5 doesn’t support the 21/9 ultrawide format … so do u play ps5 in 16/9 regular format ? Resulting black bars on each side ? Thanks .. considering purchasing this monitor
Hey!
yeah - I just choose 16:9 instead for the ps5 and the black bars on the sides. Personally I have zero issue with it, especially while gaming it's far from noticeable.
@@MinimalisTech thanks a lot 😊😊😊
How are you getting rdr 2 to look and run that good on a 2070? It runs like ass on mine
I like mine, but its not as good as my 42" C2. My C2 is brighter, despite claims the QE uses MLA (which I'm not so sure it does). The QE just doesnt get very bright at all, and this is borne out by many reviews, which have its peak brightness around 650-700 nits. My C2 gets close to 800 nits.
Another issue, the QE doesnt have HGiG resulting in inaccurate HDR performance. It seems the QE always uses some form of dynamic tone mapping.
I also dont like the matte screen, it reduces perceived contrast. Yes, I get they went with matte due to the 800R curve, but glossy finishes on OLED are just better.
Lastly, the resolution. I understand the choice behind 3440-1440p, because if you went with 4K, youd prb never take advantage of the 240hz. That said, when comparing side by side, my 42" C2 is just so much sharper. In isolation, this isnt so much of an issue, but if you also use a 4K screen to game in from time to time, you'll find yourself scoffing at the QE's lack of clarity.
Can you tell me the monitor mount you have? I’ve been trying to find one for my setup as well. Cheers and thanks
This is the one! geni.us/HEAVYMONITORARM
@@MinimalisTech awesome. Thank you 👍
Link to your wooden desk?
What chair is that though?
hello ! 4K OLED TV LG C2 or this monitor ?! thanks in advance !
4k lg 42...Got 1 year. Super.
What desk mount is that for the that monitor
With Ps5 ?? The Best or Not ??? Thnx
I'm looking for a wall mount adapter i see you have a mounting arm where did you find it i cant find any thing to mount this monitor to on my sim please help
Using this arm! - geni.us/HEAVYMONITORARM
Which is monitor support?
I've had one for about a week, and I love a lot of things about it. I'm having a bit of a hard time with the anti-glare haze combined with the low pixel density. I wish I didn't notice it when I was gaming, but I do. Have you gotten used to that after using it for a bit longer?
Definitely gotten used to it. The pixel density didn’t bug me too much from the beginning since I had used a 32” 1440p for so long.
Can you use dldsr to increase the resolution
@@MinimalisTech How is the pixel density vs a 32" 1440P monitor as I used to have one of those. Is it similar? Thanks
@@MinimalisTech Bro why don't you please compare this to the QD OLED from Alienware? Did you take money or ANYTHING from LG?? PLEASE.
@@sammy10001 nope ive tried it cant go past the max rez
I just can't stand the low ppi. What were they thinking?
OLED pixels are so clear they’re sharper than LCD.
There was a channel that put an 8K Samsung LCD (aka QLED) against a LG 4K OLED and asked people to guess which TV was 8K.
Almost everyone picked the OLED as the 8K TV.
I do think a TV this big at 1440p is too low but I’d imagine it isn’t bad in person.
What you prefer this or the c2?
yo! I dig this more than my C2. I appreciate the higher refresh rate and PC usage more in a desk setup.
I have a 7950x3d 4090 and a 7800x3d 7900xtx and i use a lg cx tv for my 4090 and a 3440x1440 120hz ultrawide for my xtx. I want a new monitor for the 4090 i can spend $1500 max and this new lg is nice while 1440p doesn’t have the pixel density it does have other advantages mainly being easier to fun high framerates. Some of these new games maxed at 4k with ray tracing still make the 4090 struggle a bit. And i do like ultrawide and curved. Its $500 off at best buy right now think its $1100 or 1200 but ive heard people getting it as low as $1000.
Whats that chair?
have you tried warzone 2?
Too curved for me but the quality looks nice. I'm waiting for G95SC from Samsung.
At this resolution, I think the more common 34" is much more suitable, especially since this is monitor, not tv. You get better pixel density, and I think for most people aggressive curve and lager size can be quite odd and had to get used to.
Yes, sadly there isn't a single 34" woled monitor on the market. Qd-oled is still a pretty new technology and less proven so I'm hesitant to invest in a monitor i want to keep for at least 5 years when tvs of the same type have even minor burn in Problems. (Because a monitor tends to have more static images)
I think the size and resolution is fine, when it come to gaming, you would not see a difference. At the moment all QD-OLED's have a strange subpixel issue, on windows, not such an issue on Mac's.
Would have preferred a 38" size with a slight less aggressive curve and 3840 x 1600. Still on the fence about this monitor tho. I can't really find any other OLED out there on the market that's good for gaming that's over a 34" size.
Interested in what FPS you were getting in FPS games with the 2070. I have a 4090 and I'm hesitant to move to 4K as I want high FPS vs image quality. Hence interested in this monitor at 240hz
Yeah, forget about 4K if you value frames and latency. 45gr95qe will be magnificient with 4090. I ordered one too. Also rtx4090 isnt powerful enough to max out every game even at 1440p ultra.
4090 might not the best performer at 1440p, it's intended to deliver peak performance at higher resolution. Surely it will deliver 240hz in most shooters. I'm running around 150fps in MW2 in 4k, so in 1440p it should be close to 200hz and above, you can still activate DLSS to get those extra frames if you fancy.
@@giannimaccario9571 I think 4090 is the best performer in 1440p at the moment. Especially on 45gr95qe we're talking about. You can even use ultra settings and still have some power left in the bank for not creating unnecessary input lags or spikes or what not. 4090 is great man. Personally i'd say no for 4k, but we all have different preferences, so i get it. But like, i'm not sure which 4k monitor will be nicer than the one we're talking about here though. It's 240hz man, fuck 144hz for multiplayers man.
we need to know the difference between this and the corsair flex, its basically the same specs but the corsair version is 400 more expensive n i cannot figure out why
The flex uses this same LG panel.
Difference is the flexing capabilities to go from flat to curved.
Cheers!
@@MinimalisTech This screen would of been an instant buy for me, also the corsair flex, but I also use my monitor for word processing and thats where the main issue is, you can see all the jaggies, example when u do a spelling mistake on word and u get that red line under the word, u can see the jaggedness, but on a monitor with a higher PPI that same red line is a straight line, because the pixel concentration is higher, for gaming and watching movies it will be a blast but for work its too much of a big deal, also apparently the PPI count on both panels are equivalent to a 1080 monitor/?
It's gorgeous, but the max brightness is kinda meh, and it's just not useable for productivity because of how bad text looks, no matter which setting. Ultimately had to return it, loved gaming on it, but literally couldn't read on it for more than 1/2 hour before getting a headache.
i like your monitor mount. What model is it?
as soon as this gets a 4k 27 inch or a 5120x2160 option im buying it
how is this monitor in regards to productivity?
I had it for a few days and it was not useable for productivity tasks. Text looks like it has some shadow or blur to it, messed with settings forever and didn't matter. I had to return because of this.
@@nickmembrez thought so, i had samsung 49 inch, returned it for the exact same reasons. funny enough, one of my friends, who's a software developer bought the same, and he's fine with it. also when i told him you lose vertical pixels, and he disagreed, and told me that it is 2x 27inch monitor with same pixel density :D
3440x1440 is to smal resolution for 45"" monitor, dpi will wery smal, the picture will be not cristal an sharp if u used on the desk and stay font it on 70-80 santimeters
Why didn’t you touch on XBOX/PS compatibility with this display????
Did in my original review! Went pretty in depth. Cheers!
I have its cousin the Corsair Flex, I'm assuming that you have the monitor connected via HDMI 2.1 and you're using G-Sync. Question, in the Nvidia control panel does it show .. this monitor has not been validated? I didn't even bother hooking up the DisplayPort, It would be no different than my 35" OLED Alienware being capped at 175 Hz @ 8-bit .. so why bother.
The weirdest thing is I get this feeling of reverb because it's so close to my face and its size. I wish the 40-seried GPUs from Nvidia had DisplayPort 2.1.
CPU-Z JJU8GT
CPU-Z 9MM3CZ
DP 1.4 32.4 Gbps
HDMI 2.1 48 Gbps
3440x1440 240Hz @ 10-bit = 42.8 Gbps
3440x1440 175Hz @ 8-bit = 26.01 Gbps
3440x1440 175Hz @ 10-bit = 31.21 Gbps
The Alienware Will not allow anything above 8-bit at 175 Hz.
I guess it's late. Bottom-line is I really like the monitor. It's brighter than the Alienware which frankly surprised me. I like the flexibility of the excuse, the punch flex portion of the Corsair and to me it was worth the extra $300.
I saw some of the comments about people complain about his pixel density. They don't realize that we're slammed into a wall of limitations right now. OLED panels are capable of 1kHz @
I have a Alienware dw 34" oled, why i cant have 8bit with my displayport? At 175hz
@@Yesgim .. You can have 3440x1440 @ 175Hz @ 8-bit. CPU-Z 9MM3CZ However, it requires a DisplayPort 1.4 or better certified cable. There are a lot of low quality DisplayPort cables. If you search for the following LTT did some testing with DisplayPort cables.
_I Spent $1100 on DisplayPort Cables… for Science!_
@@DJaquithFL I have 8bit but not 10bit 175hz
@@Yesgim .. No the cap @ 10-bit is 144Hz and there's no way to make that monitor any faster. Anything beyond that requires either HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.x or .. DisplayPort 1.4 using Display Stream Compression (DSC). Example I also own the 240Hz 3440x1440 Corsair Flex and it offers both DisplayPort 1.4 DSC and HDMI 2.1.
While I have an RTX 4090 that offers HDMI 2.1, it does not offer DisplayPort 2.x.
Pc msi Trident?
how is it for other task like daily task that aren't gaming
Great! I personally don’t have an issue with the PPI being low. I just really dig the size and OLED
0:55 wallpaper??
I heard the reason why it's 3440x1440 and not 3840x16XX is because this monitor is from a cutdown 55" panel instead of a 48". The 48" would have allowed for a bit higher PPI and a higher resolution.
This gives 1080p like PPI, which is unacceptable for Windows in my opinion.
@@techsteveo7913 except it looks far better and doubt you buy a monitor like this for productivity…it’s a consumption monitor
@@jasonharris765 windows has terrible font renderer, everything but gaming will look terrible
@@techsteveo7913 you really don't get an OLED panel for productivity/casual browsing unless your stupid and have money to burn ( literally as the panel would burn in ). You would get a secondary monitor like I have to do all that.
I thought OW didn't support fullscreen ultrawide resolution?
it does on PC! you just have to make sure to set your aspect ratio to 21:9 in the overwatch settings. For me I play 3440x1440 at 21:9.
It defaults to 16:9 on some monitors when you first setup
