Reaching a point where the kiddos do better than the parents 💁🏼♀️🤷🏻♂️😅🤌 Have the same feeling daily with my daughter 🥳
Yeah we have raised some pretty great humans 😜
@@SailingCatalpa Id say awesome humans, most kids their age are completely absorbed in their phones. Well done all concerned
Great cinematography on this video. I'm glad to see that the unauthorized boarding turned out ok, those guys looked sketchy and I am surprised they didn't come back at night to cause you more problems.
Yeah we weren’t to keen to hang around
I would have given him the jug of “petrol” for his outboard, just for the laugh.
The Four Kings is an absolutely beautiful place....I hope to get there one day and see the village leaders and pay them a gift for permitting me the pleasure of such beauty.
I'm growing to like this channel. There's so much love in the family.
Thank you so much 🥰
Great to catch your latest episode and loving the ability to provide some positive feedback!!👍👍
Great contribution young fellows! Liked it very much.
Cheers victor
Great video. Awesome info with Bella & Taj voice overs. Glad the problem over fuel wasn't worse.
Thanks yeah they were not the friendliest people we have met 😜
Great job on video and narration kidlets. Really good.A bit sobering to be confronted by other people…anywhere. It’s so nice to see a Catamaran and a Monohull playing so nicely together….Lee,that pic of you laying over the engine completely defeated in the intro always makes me laugh ……been there. thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery
Thanks Peter ☺️
I‘ m sure you brushed off the locals with your permanent grin. Fair Winds!
Scary confrontation with the locals.. and I’m not keen on you being in the mangroves with crocs around 😳 but beautiful blue water scenes and great commentary Taj and Bella 👍🏼
Lots of covered faces amongst those locals, I get the feeling that wasn't the first time they've exhorted (or tried to) fuel from cruisers.
Such a beautiful location otherwise.
Love watching your videos. Felt for you as that must have been a very scary and nasty experience. I appreciated your positive attitude and look forward to watching your adventures. Thanks for sharing
Thanks mate it wasn’t pleasant but in the end it all worked out ☺️
Saw your invite on FB. Great job on vid. Beautiful spot. Too bad about the pirates.
Thank You for another GREAT episode!
You are very welcome ☺️
Great video and luv the interaction and collaboration
Well that was a bit spooky. Glad everything went ok. Amazing how those two little ones have grown, well they are not little anymore they are young adults. Sara you and Lee have done a mighty fine job raising those two. As you Aussies say good on ya. Stay safe.
Thanks so much ☺️
There's so much love in all of your videos..... Keep safe always. God bless......
It was fun when they hit a tree in dinghy ride....
Thanks 🥰 we will ☺️
What a brave husband you have Sara dealing those Pirates and keeping them away from you guys! 🤣🤣🤣
scared the **** out of me...Mum handled the uninvited guests that boarded Catalpa without permission very well...few things hold my attention anymore but YOU GUYS ROCK I LOVE your Camerawork, such majestic beauty in Misool, Raja Ampat..has been on my Bucket list for some time...thanks for bringing that BEAUTY!!
Great video today, enjoy listening the kids narrating.
Thanks so much
I adore your family an the journey an brilliantly beautiful adventures... Thanks for sharing your lives with us and Fare winds an following sea's guy's ✌🏻💗😊❣️
Much better video, thanks.
G'day folks. Love this episode. Music was great as well. Good choice.. Beautiful scenery eh?? Take care. Atb from down here in Nz.
Thanks Bryan so beautiful there
Great video!!!!!
Thanks Beth
GREAT JOB
BELLA & TAJ!!!!!!!!!!
Great job by the kids a lot better than some of the other sailing channels
Great job all round. For me, planning to be single handing when I can get my boat launched and out of the UK, that pirate encounter was very scary. It all ended OK for you all on this occasion and I can tell my own stories of encounters in the past which luckily ended with either no problem or what I would call minimal losses. At the least though would it be possible to report this to local authorities? I can see events like this escalating to a point where there is injury or loss of life and then everyone has a serious problem to deal with.
Great episode. Just beautiful.
Thanks Lee
Thank you. God Bless.
Splendid
What a beautiful place, such a shame that your first contact with the locals was the way it was. Great job Taj and Bella on the commentary!
Yes but we never judge a place for 1 encounter ☺️👍
Great video mom, dad, kids and sailing friends 😀
Thanks mate
Beautiful video....happy you guys are ok though...
Great footage
Dramatic beginning 😳😳😳beautiful videography/ scenery- good job by the younguns 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much ☺️
Great voice over work kids.
Thanks mate
A very beautiful spot... Sad about the pirates .... Best wishes and .............................Cheers
Great video guys... particularity like the commentary from the teens.
you guys are so lucky.. my two (13..17) are stuck at home doing zoom schooling due to covid!
Thanks they did a great job didn’t they ☺️
Just found your guys'' channel. That was an ordeal! Not sure if I would have handled it the same, glad you guys and your kids are ok. From: A fellow new sailing family out of the Great Lakes, and a new subscriber!
Welcome guys thanks for subscribing ☺️😁
You handled the boarding in a much calmer way than i would have, especially with young girls onboard.... I found a machette to hand detered many would be interlopers. We actually had a group of guys hassle us in the hawksbury river!!!!
Hi Marc!
I’d love to hear about your experience on the Hawkesbury. I’m from nearby Newport and have travelled up there a few times and would like to know the details...
@@micheldawes1 I was on my Competant Crew (more like bareley competant) course back in 1999 we spent a night in America bay along with another yacht, we had just got back onboard when a rib came alongside with four guys on (All had mullett haircuts - well it was last century) . They were friendly enough at first then when one of our female crew told a guy to rack off he got nasty, The instructor had gone below so it was me two other guys and a girl facing off a hostile group of guys who started demanding booze. Our intructor came back on deck with a flare gun and a machette and the guys left. Must say in the years i have sailed this was the only time i thought it was going to go sideways. AFP took statments and that was the last we heard of it, I've been up there a couple times since with no problems, it is such a beautiful place and on the whole people are pretty tolerant (even of a boat full of lads living it up)
Sweet anchorages and clear water!
It’s a beautiful place that’s for sure ☺️
Wow. Top stuff.
Thanks Earl
That was FUN, from someone entering into Winter (ME) ... there (where you guys are), looks so much more pleasant than here ... LOL
It’s definitely warm here ☺️☀️
Welcome to Indonesia! As an Indonesian born and raised.. mugging and extortion are pretty standard practice. It's pretty sad.. These type of people want to have better live.. instead of work they torment others for living. I finds it interesting that they said "This is the territory of Raja Ampat NOT Papua. If you don't give me petrol, I'll cut your rope and you can sail away". They were acting like as if they are legitimate water police 😆. It is also not a surprise if the actual water police that does same thing. Authority planting drugs to retort money is also a well known thing in Indonesia. Plus.. they were very mild.. normally, they would rock up in group armed with "Parang" a.k.a machete and displaying more violen for ultimate gain and intimidation. So be really cautious.
Go to Malaysia or Thailand it's a friendlier country ...I live in Malaysia n u r welcome my friend just started boat life...u can follow him in 24 hours travellers Sam n Rene. Take care n stay safe.
"We were extra cautious..."
I personally wouldn't swim in waters where crocodiles are habitual.
Unlike sharks, crocodiles attack immediately, without any hesitation.
And don't think, for one moment, they won't snatch you right out of a dinghy when they get the chance.
I would have been talking to the local village leaders about those guys
You guys are great
Good job kids great job
Hi from the USA
Thanks Stephen 👋☺️
@@SailingCatalpa you guys are the best on CZcams
Raja Ampat Wonderful Indonesia🇮🇩
Wow it is a stunning location
So beautiful ☺️
You are super rich kids,. It's like driving your Ferrari down town , not surprising locals occasionally get hostile
greetings from Texas
Good video.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Always supporter 😊 u
Thank you 🥰☺️
You kids are doing a great job. Moms out of business now. Lol.
Yes finally 🤣😂
Great narration Taj and Bella! It WAS a great episode!
Thanks so much
Maybe the fuel was just a ruse to check you out . What was around ten men in a boat like that doing
Lovely video. Great choice of music.
Scary characters on that boat! Do you guys have guns for protection?
Thanks no we don’t have guns only these 💪 🤭
Not a good question, you don't admit to that, but I cruised a lot and was well armed, your life is worth more than that of a criminal attacker.
too many legal issues with having guns on board, good aluminium base ball bats are good, lots of ways to protect yourself if you have to.
Those guys weren't criminals, they we're just Indo Muslims and Catalpa you were lucky that time, they could have taken whatever they wanted and burnt your yachts to the waterline and if the police got involved you would be arrested your insulting them, fools. I have lived here for 20yrs you got lucky that time. Next time woman and girls go below and put some clothes on and let only the man speak. You show disrespect and you will loose
Taj is an excellent narrator
He sure is 🤩
Scary stuff there at the beginning. I think I would have left that same day. Were you out of radio range to call for help when they first arrived? I would have gone below and called for help on the radio.
We like to be calm they were rude but it’s hard when language is a barrier we understood what they wanted and they understood in the end we didn’t have it to give 😅 yeah not really anyone to call out here 😬
Awesome lifestyle
Presumably you must have had petrol for the outboards - were they happy once they realised that the large amount of fuel on the foredeck wasn't petrol or did it take more negotation?
We told them we didn’t have fuel yes once they realized the Jerry’s were full of diesel they were happy to leave. I think they were just opportunistic and thought we had so much “fuel” they can give us some but anyway it all ended up ok 👌
Scary at first, peoples attitudes are deteriorating world wide. Glad it had an ok ending.
The hide of those bastards! boarding your boat like that. You did handle it very well, keeping everything as calm as you did, well done.
so that place has big lizards there as well stay safe crew catch you next week..
Apparently not here 🤔but close by 😳
😊
Y'all were fortunate that the natives did not want more than fuel. There were lots of them. Y'all handled it well. Could I assume that your vessel does not have a safety implement; sometimes referred to as a weapon? Stay safe.
Wow….well done on staying calm!!! That could of blown up terribly without such cool heads.
Just quietly I would of helped them tip the diesel into their petrol tanks wink wink
Yeah I'd have been tempted too - but probably not a good idea!
❤️
Never saw the croc!
Your interaction with those criminals makes a very strong argument for carrying defensive firearms, I'm glad it worked out peacefully but very scary I'm sure. Absolutely beautiful area and well put together video. Stay Safe & Fair Winds !!
cheeky bstds , give them nothing !!
They are cheeky 😅😬
👍👍👍👍👍
👍😎👍💕
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Taj was about to go Rambo on those pirates.
Those are pirates, but without spines. It will turn violent eventually.
Sorry guys, been a while .I forget how quickly they grow up
I'm so sorry for bad experience what you've been through in my country, for safety i think you should have a contact number police sea in that area. Hope you can get the another nice things
We love your country and people these guys were just trying to take advantage 😌
If everyone grew up in a great family like yours, there would be very little conflict on this planet. Obviously these villains came from a very different, less advantageous place. Still, even here in New York, we don't threaten tourists simply because they're such a huge part of our economy (just don't go to a house party in Coney Island ;-)).
Ha..ha..ha....dari Ambon.
🐊
That could gone really bad, please stay safe. You should have a couple buddyboats more... not a nice area...
The area is great we had lots of time around misool and no more instances this stop was close to the mainland I wouldn’t recommend there.
You go to Palawan El nedo
Really a beautiful place except for locals demands
Great episode. Stay safe please.
Never let anyone on your boat. You were lucky. Boathook out and stand guard.
👌🏻X
Next time, just give them diesel.
They deserve the hassle for bording without permission
Salt water croc?
Yeah they are over here 😳😬
just as well they weren't high on betel
Hope you have something to protect yourselves.
I've heard of sailors getting assaulted and robbed throughout Indonesia since Covid started. Also been told to get out of their country.
Be careful guys🙏
We have had no other problems here it’s a beautiful country with beautiful people there are some not so nice people all over the world ☺️
@@SailingCatalpa are you champions coming home or staying up there through our cyclone season?
Well then its time to come home then all is well except in WA. cheers
We will see ☺️
It seems to me that the man on the boat was hiding out not helping the women! Nice going
What seems is not always what is ☺️
@@SailingCatalpa that may be so, but what you posted online would clearly scared a lot of sailors from sailing in Indonesian waters just by the comments you are receiving. If you are stupid enough too post rubbish videos like this one. I don't think Indonesian Immigration will like it. You must remember you aren't in Australia and your vision clearly is trying to imply Indonesia is unsafe for yachts. Just look at the title " locals threaten us in Raja Ampat, just so you make more money from utube revinue.
They boarded your YACHT so what, they ask for petrol, so what. You make them out to be criminals, all the while you are making money, scaring people from sailing Indonesia and disrespecting the Government and people of Indonesia. Well done Catalpa
@UCLJ4UUVw0keEYL2BPdCguEw I do not normally post on these things, but out of all the brave armchair comments coming out on this vlog you have got to be the biggest a…hole of them all. Would like to see you in that situation. Catalpa has shown nothing but great videos on the wonderful people and culture and immersing themselves in the local culture and doing nothing but good for promoting tourism and cruising in Indonesia, but here you have a bunch or pirates, nothing else to call them, and you come out with idiotic comments. The heading is exactly what happened you moron, why sugarcoat it?
@@nickocleary2701 you appear to be directing your comments at me.
Nick the fishermen weren't pirates and only make a small threat to cut their anchor line. Which is not illegal.
Catalpa are what the Indonesian goverment call online social influencers, There are plenty of Indonesian and Western people that have recently faced Indonesian Court's, prison time, large fines and deportation, from posting negitive comments or videos. What you yourself Nick have said is negitive and just adds to Catalpas troubles. My concern and warnings are correct, if you know what happens with Indonesian law better than I do then ok. Mine is a friendly warning to Capalia and other YACHTs to be sure what they put online isn't against Indonesian law, thus ensuring their stay in Indonesia is good.
@@graemesmith8232 100% directed at you. What you say above though just makes me think that you are more of a clueless idiot than I originally thought and you obviously did not read what I wrote about Catalpa but clearly sticking to your agenda so……. Boarding a boat without permission and threatening, or doing any action by means or under duress is illegal no matter which way you want to look at it.
Not to be negative but the most dangerous thing you've done so far is not using the kill cord for the outboard.
Look at that guy in bay of islands Fiji.
Take care
Yes you have a point that’s for the reminder
Sorry for what happened. Hope you guys have an amazing journey for the next ones.

Ungrateful 🤣
Thank you so much for going to all the effort in this comment. We still love Indonesia. There are unfriendly people all over the world 😉
@@SailingCatalpa Couldn't agree more. What matters the most is what's our attitude towards them, and you guys are the best with those positivities. Keep up the good work, and make sure to enjoy each day! 🙌😊 Love from Indo~
I just show this video, very shocked to see the local people behaving like pirates😢 as an indonesian i am embarrassed and very disappointed with their behavior. I have flagged those who did it and Will immediatley report this incident which occurred two years ago. On behalf of indonesian; I appologize for this 🙏 so sorry to all you guys
We love Indonesian people and this didn’t change that😁 we love spending time in your country.
Stay safe and I hope you don't run into real pirates out there
We hope not to too 😁
