Should've switched V-Rally to the cockpit view. More impressive visually in that perspective, and it plays better.
Yeah I regret forgetting to do that
Actually the V Rally cars is 2D, the back ground is 3D.
There's footage of an unreleased version of Virtua Racing running on the GBA on CZcams, that's quite impressive too!
Woah
Link
In V-Rally 3 you can also Switch the camera. For me this was just WOW
By my estimation, the game actually also runs at 60FPS (I could be wrong, though).
@@linkthehero8431 how to unlock other cars?
@@giancarlotubal5985 Not sure. I only recently started playing it on an emulator on my Android phone (titled _My Boy_ if you're interested and have a real smartphone).
"Hot Wheels: Stunt Track Challenge"
I loved this game so much
I'm collecting 3D GBA games, this is really useful!
Glad to help :)
me too ! its really interesting that gba can do it !
@Michael O Callaghan Same
You deserve waaay more subscribers dude !
Thanks mate! I'm pretty happy with how my little channel is growing, someday I'll have as many subscribers as people keep saying I deserve haha
Not planning on it haha
minimme you deserve at least 10,000 subs, your content is always entertaining and informal, keep up the great the great
Damn, that's high praise. Thanks Deku :D
I love Vrally 3, one of my first Racinggames, and my first Rallygame😍
Thank you for mentioning Star x!!!! I loved that game as it was a great Star fox clone. I've never seen it reviewed for any gab lists and it is highly underrated
holy shit... Had Hot Wheels back in the day for my GBA and i remebered it waaaay better. Nostalgia is a bad friend
Hotwheels stunt track challenge is one of my favorite games of all time. I have the game on PC, GBA, and PS2. I recommend this game to anyone who likes racing games with good music. I'm so happy that more people are talking and playing the game. it is one of the best hidden gems in my opinion. Hopefully someone like metal Jesus Rocks makes this game popular by talking about it on their channel
v rally looks like a cellphone racing game .
You must mean it looks like flip phone games kiddo
@Trex 8210 Talking about Snake 3d, As far as I know it had multiplayer through bluetooth. Sadly, I've never had two phones with Snake 3d on it at the same time, so I couldn't test it out how good/bad it was... T^T
Monster Truck Madness is an amazing 3D GBA game with a flawless framerate.
Downhill jam was a GBA game? never knew.
I played that on my Sony Ericsson w610 in 2007 lol.
Haven't seen Colin McRae 2.0 mentioned in any of these lists but that was impressive, full 3D modelled vehicles and the driving physics were surprisingly good
Thanks for these lists, I’ve found tons of interesting games I wouldn’t have known about otherwise! Keep it up!
This video made me buy Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. It was very cheap on Amazon and I had a very good time with it. It's a very short game, if you're good at it.
Holy crap I remember playing that Hotwheels one.. Young me loved that game :D
Yes! I grew up with Stunt Track Challenge and was thinking of it the whole time while watching the first two videos.
I remember being more impressed with the GBA version of V Rally 3 than the console version... I got it and Stuntman as my first GBA games
Some people even managed to make Tomb Raider from PS1 working in GameBoy Advance (the reverse-engineered Open Lara)...That one was super-impressive as well
We gon talk about those V-Rally 3 backfire sounds?
Amazing video! You've earned yourself a subscriber ;)
Thankyou! I hope I can keep making some entertaining stuff :)
demonjanitor me too!
TO = minimme
Nice video.
it was exciting to see my comment \ suggestion of Street Racyng Syndicate at the beginning of the video.
If you do a fourth video about other 3D games for the gba ... can you put the game I suggested in the new video?
Congratulations, you've earned a subscriber from Italy.
Haha thanks! I'm sorry SRS didn't make the cut this time around. It miiiight make it into the next one, wait and see
Thanks for subscribing :)

Cool !
Thanks ! (^^)
I didn't know that there were flat shaded polygon games on the gba , with that in mind, i wish that vortex, starfox, stunt race fx etc,, were ported to the gba.
Imagine if the SNES SFX2 could had handled something like V-Rally back in the day, it would have been mind blowing. Now that's something that confuses me: how could the GBA handle things the SNES couldn't even dream of and yet there where so many, many games that looked half way between Gameboy Color and the SNES (looking at you DKC and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3). Maybe emulators make them look bad, since these games were meant for the GBA small screen.
The 3D Engines for the GBA were coded by hand.
As 32bit system it was capable of handling polygons with softwarw rendering.
Furthermore, as the psx/n64 era had already passed, devs had already gained some experience in handling 3d (compared to mostly crude attempts in the snes days.. *cough* fx chip *chough*)
@@diarykeeper 🤣😎🤔🤘👍💪
Yes! You had my childhood game on here. Hot wheels stunt track challenge. I can't tell you how many times I've started over from the beginning. When I was a kid, I don't really remember the passwords and I would loose all the codes I have written down. I had the combo version of the game that had both Hot Wheels game on the gba. Too bad I lost it and my little bro bought a copy so I will never find my copy.
0:00 ‘you gave me an rverwhelming response’
The Racing genre had a lot of 3D perspective to play in this GBA :Y
Holy hell, when you said "clone" for Star X, you weren't kidding, it's like someone basically took Star Fox SNES and made an attempt to have it run as smoothly as 64, All Range Mode included.
...Yes, I know Star Fox 2 exists, but the HUD basically screams 64.
Yo! It's Wind from the Newtubers discord. I really enjoyed it. I'll check out the rest of your stuff later too
Cheers man! Have a good one
We have the 3DS, Switch, PS Vita, etc. But for some reason, to this day the things the GBA can pull off blows my mind.
I wouldn't have minded if you went a bit more into detail with the Tony Hawk game, that one honestly looked the most fun.
I actually had that hot wheels game as a kid. It was one of my first gba games
The Tony Hawk game is reminding me of Alone in the dark with its visuals
Which game and on what console?
The shifting sounds of V-Rally! 😂
Yessss, I loved Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge as a kid!
i just like hearing you talk ok c;
btw, I have to agree about the hotwheels game. The lineless style makes for less aesthetic detail, sure, but it's much less headache-inducing than using detailed, constantly-resampled 2D images on a skewed plane. I kinda prefer that lineless style, for the GBA at least. Much less going on! And look at how smooth it is.
Downhill Jam reminds me of the Money For Nothing Music Video.
These three codes make Star X a lot easier.
GSMAX: Best weapon at start
GSHARD: Unlimited health
GSBOOM: Unlimited bombs
I feel like Cars: Maternational is a good 3D game, with full 3D race tracks and multiple 3D player cars (while the opponents are 2D sprites)
Star X makes me think that Nintendo should've taken the Star Fox 2 code and ported it to GBA as Star Fox Advance.
In Super Monkey Ball JR, if you enter the Konami code when you enter the low resolution code, the title screen changes to Super Nice Try.
Seeing what the VD duo made with their engine make me wish other developers used it too. Imagine a Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooi or Spyro game in 3d that can almost rival their big console cousins on a GBA.
Stunt track driver was one of my first GBA games!
Awesome vid :D Thanks for the mention :)
Thankyou!
Well, technically the GBA IS 32-bit, so comparing the V-Rally to a PS1 game isn't much of a stretch. Considering the GBA had no 3D processor (and some of the games had a software version of the SNES SuperFX chip, least that's what I've heard) graphics like these are still impressive.
Rokabur yeah!!!! 😍😍😍😍😉
Loved Star X back in the day!
Those were the two I had the least fun with for this vid haha, thanks for watching
glad to see v rally included. did you know there is an awesome cockpit view as well?
Yeah! And it is awesome! I regret forgetting to show it in this vid
Really like your content bud. Keep it up :)
Thanks man, I will! Just gotta get past a whole bunch of exams first haha
About Star X... If I recall, Star Fox was thought of being made for GBA, but they ultimately scrapped the idea.
Don't know if you have put it in one of the newer videos (I haven't watched them all yet) but have you seen Wing Commander Prophecy? Full range of movement space combat sim with 3D textured polygons, only game to have crashed my GBA, and not once but twice!
V Rally surprised me a lot, i bought it, and without reading reviews, i can’t believe how the gba could run that
Top Gear Rally is another one to note. It doesn't play as well as V-Rally and it has some visual glitches, but the car model looks like it came from an N64 (albeit with terrible resolution post-rendering).
Also, I'm not too surprised Star X's controls are twitchy. They seem to be going for a similar experience to the SNES version of Star Fox, which has equally bad controls.
Fuck yeah, I love me some GBA and GBC. It blows your mind what they pulled off back then with such limited hardware
I like these. do ds and psp too
Star x, the first one, seems to have mode-7 floor. But how can you have so large sprites on GBA? I mean, I get you can have like 128 sprites and 4 times overdraw. So they patch it all together? There is not much RAM left for that. Or are they using affine sprites and this sprite priority trick from the C64?
Thanks for this series.
Thanks for watching it!
GBA was the first system I bought for myself, and I loved it, and still love it. It was amazing to see what people could get out of it, and how willing they were to try. Even some 3D console games that were completely redone in 2D (like Rogue Spear) or isometric 3D with 3D models (like Max Payne) blew my mind. Not because of how perfect they were, as they weren't. But I still enjoy playing them today, and I still appreciate what they managed to squeeze out of that system, with so few buttons.
The Tony Hawk and ATV games aside, I've played all the ones you mentioned, but they're great lists anyway! One of the most impressive 3D games though, even if it was top-down, was Payback. I was also very impressed with Golden Sun's battle scene, even if that wasn't really 3D.
Subbed, btw ;)
Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub!
The GBA is so likable, I also grew up with it and it was a fantastic obsession that I also still enjoy. Like Max Payne, early Tony Hawk games also used 3D models, pretty fascinating. I've played Payback and have been meaning to include it! A very impressive GTA style game - will definitely be in a future video.
*Sexy flat shaded polygons*
If you liked that micromachines game I would recommend Lego Drome Racers for the GBA.
Haha, next video man!
Hot Wheels stunttrack challenge is basically Ps1 Hot Wheels Turbo Racer on gba!
This is basically like a suped up SNES. These games look way better than the super FX chip but not quite on the level of the N64
Golden sun is the best 3D game for the gba. The graphics were stunning at the time and still are today. Look it up.
I was able to play StarX just fine. You can change the targeting sensitivity too if you like.
VRally3 and Top Gear Rally, I wish they had a rumble pak :-(
Wait, no SSX 3? That was pretty badass for a GBA, really.
+Pechka Productions it so is, maybe I'll put it in a future ep
Check out the gba asterix and obelix XXL game. Some of the best 3d, plays like a 3d early PS1 title too.
You need to check out Gt Advance 3, it's a full 3d racing sim for gba, really good graphics and fairly decent gameplay.
Thanks for the suggestion, hadn't heard of this. The visuals remind me of The Simpsons: Road Rage
minimme a lot like road rage for sure. But if you notice all the cars a fully rendered.
Driver 2 and Driv3r are also 3D and open world roms
Those games are cool, but I hate the gameplay
Ironically, I was playing the tony hawk game while i was watching this.
crazy taxi
Your voice is like a soothing rain of hot wax washing over my soul.
More
Soon
The PS1 quality 3D is very likely done with distorted sprites just like it was done on the Sega Saturn.
Yo Minimme make more gameboy videos. I need my hit man.
iff you want to make another one look iinto Ecks vs Sever 1+2
as well as Iridion wich just olooks awesome as well as its sequel
Great video ;D
I've been trying to remember that name -- Iridion. Those games do look awesome.
Thanks!
I'd subscribe twice if I could
I'd love this comment twice if I could ;)
32 bits in my opinion is such a weird type of console variant, it’s just a weird gap between 2d and 3d
i had star x. it was fun
wish the video wasnt so blurry
You missed out Top Gear rally
My favorite gba game is Penny racers and I still play it😂😂😂
Hello, I wonder if you can do a list of games which are close to skyrim and oblivion, with gameplay like gothic 3 or something like that. I played a lot and I like that type of RPG games. thanks
Heyo, the next video is out, hope you all enjoy :)
czcams.com/video/YiAda1_BV-U/video.html
I'd recommend Duke Nukem Advance for your next video if there is one.
I've planned out the next one already, but maybe after that
You
Your content is awesome
Thanks :)
No problem
you should take a look at the unreleased banjo pilot voxel build
Wow! Didn't know about this. Insane, thanks for letting me know!
There's a lot of cool unreleased stuff/tech demo's for the GBA, I might do an episode on them
dude keep it up
u just got one more sub
Thanks!
I'm your 1000th sub
someone else is also claiming this haha, thanks for subbing :)
ooooooo been looking for 3D games that shouldn't exist into RTC Vanguard for corruptions and wowee, TH Downhill breaks fantastically
I own super monkey ball on gba, very nice game i must say.
subbed
Thanks :)
You should check out gadget racers, it's a great racing game 😀👍
Hey minime, what's your favorite game genre?
Tony Hawk downhill... Forshadowing ;_;
I'd like to apologise in ADVANCE! 2:48
My question is: was the GBA more capable than an SNES or less?
I love your content do mooooaaaar
Star X was very hard. I thought it was fun
its look likes the most of these games have low poly style !😃😃
You should try the simpsons road rage, I found it quite impressive for the gba
