- Hi gang, I'm back with another classic game review, and this episode it's a big one! IT from the pit from Milton Bradley, released in 1992. This 3D, motorised mechanical mad cap monster of a game is sure to grab you... literally! If you enjoy the video, let me know your thoughts. As I mention in the review, I had to repair this game as it wasn't working on arrival. If there's interest in me doing a walkthrough of what to look for when repairing these, I don't mind stripping apart my broken unit to show you guys.
I realise it's been a good few months since the last review, well, the last video actually. The truth to this is a lot more stressful and upsetting than I'd really really want to dive that deep into. Time marches onward, we're all getting older and the older members of my family are...well, they've been struggling. All my grandparents have had numerous medical issues over the last few months that have been stressful on the family, family member including myself running to help them, run errands, clean etc whilst they get back on their feet. Seeing them struggling itself was upsetting, seeing my parents upset with seeing their parents struggling...it hit deep. And it put me in no real mood to play games let alone review them. I chose to be with my family and support each other through the rough patch. Whilst certain issues there aren't necessarily going to to get better, there's help and support systems now in place that's alleviated quite a bit of the stress we were all under. Not out of the woods, but in a better place and one where I'm happier than I have been. My family, will understandably, come before the channel but filming and editing this episode.... well, it's good be back doing this.
I've also been doing a fair amount of painting, not necessarily game pieces and miniatures but model making too. I find it calming and found it helped me get through the last few months, something I had a bit of control over when things seemed like chaos. I have painted up some game minis however so when those games get reviewed, they're going to look their best...or, the best I can muster anyway :)

My parents held a garage sale when I was 13 or so, and sold my copy of It From The Pit for 5USD to my weird acquaintance down the street, I was very upset at the time and they just told me "Well, you never play it." I'll be sending this video to them. It's not a matter of how much I play it, it's a matter of how wonderfully designed the game is.

This channel has the highest production value to lowest subscriber count ratio of any channel on CZcams. I don't get it. Better board game reviews of more interesting games than almost any other review channel. I truly hope you take off soon because you deserve it.

When I was a kid I wanted this game so bad and my parents got it for me. It broke pretty much instantly and we returned it and replaced it 3 times with it breaking instantly every time so we ended up just giving up on it.

I think the game would have worked better if:
Instead of being constantly running, a button was hit at the end of each round causing it to run through a few cycles.
It moved slower and more deliberate, so it didn't shake the board and knock pawns all over the place instead of grabbing them.
Another great review 👍 my holy grail game is "The Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs".
I read a comment saying that you have a broken version that you may be willing to use as an example of how to repair
'It From The Pit.' My game just quit working today! I thought it might be a loose electrical connection, so I opened up the 'inner chamber' to check the connections. I bet you guess what happened...pieces just kind of tumbled out and I have no idea of how they were all connected together. If you (or anyone) has a picture of how the inside gears should be positioned I would appreciate you sharing it. It's an old game that has had a lot of use since my kids and grandkids have all loved playing it, but I'd still love to try to get it working again, if possible.
This needs a 21st century reprint/remake
I have to agree, it's a simple game and it's a shame its rarity and price is preventing people from enjoying it, it deserves to have a reprint

Hahaha I can add it back in no problem but only at request 😂 it really is a horrendous sound of metal on gears. I just want to preserve this as long as I can do :)

This looks incredible
The motor died on mine years ago but it's worth keeping just for the game design and box artwork.
When I got this game new I noticed the place to put the eye stickers would have it looking up in the air unlike the back of box where he's looking at the playing pieces, so I put the stickers lower not on the slight flats were they are supposed to go. I always noticed that now on other copies that he's staring into space.
I bet you can glue that hook back on and it will hold strong if you're familiar with the super glue + baking soda trick, if not definitely look it up. Sand the sides to scuff them up a bit first, makes very strong repairs
I’m wondering if using like a picture hook and some two part epoxy clay, something like milliputt would work as a suitable hook replacement. I’ve glued it and it’s come broken again as you can see on the video, this was using bostik 2 part epoxy, it just didn’t hold with the tension of the spring on it

I actually have an idea for a fan game based on this channel where Luke gets shrunken into the board game world Featuring all the stuff he reviewed and thanks to the demon king from horror house, he now has to get out, and maybe it from the pit could be one of the boss fights

The detail on that board is amazing! I wish more giant pieces like that existed. And that rubber trick is very interesting! Could you detail that a little more? I may have many uses for that on old machines
That's a whole lot of detail inside the pit for something that's going to be covered up by some bright green plastic.

Would you ever do a full repair video?? My original plus the replacement i bought years ago are both busted and would love to fix! Love the videos so much!
I wouldn’t mind going over what to look for with the busted version, the one with the broken hook, but I’d be hesitant to take the working one apart now it’s working. The motor works fine on both but that hook is so important to how the arm works

I have it, but it's the Brazilian version...it only changes the board, which is not three-dimensional
When you do these videos, are they games you already own or do you buy them to make the video?
I do have a lot of games still from my childhood but I don’t buy exclusively to make reviews, i buy games because I want to play them! Some have been horrendous let downs and some have been surprisingly good despite initial impressions.
I still wanna see a review of rattler!!

I ordered myself a complete copy online and it worked for 5 minutes and died once I turned it off ): It doesn't turn back on!!

Luke, I had to come back and try commenting again, as YT (which can 😘🦨💨) has kept deleting my posts pointing to the website showing the groovy vintage Kenner _Star_ _Wars_ photos, some of which incorporated the miniature sets (à la the It box back) we were talking about, and I wasnʼt sure if you (or anyone else interested) had a chance to grab the address. So here it is, albeit circumlocutorily: The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker _dot_ Weebly Site _dot_ “commercial” without the “mercial”. Or maybe YTʼs artificial unintelligence will censor this too. The Farce is with them - but may the Force be with you!
