      Thank you! Dry grass not so much of an issue. I knew this was going to happen but not this extent. Still blows my mind why would TORO thinks it’s OK that the same motor on the 20-22” line would be OK for a 30” mower 🤬

      @@pattayperformance yes quite agree, the engine should be more powerful. Otherwise a good all round mower for work. Mine has started to suddenly get higher rpm after long usage just for a few seconds and then settle down to normal rpm, not sure why, perhaps its the fuel line getting blocked or filter?

    Congrats on the trading nephew, for the time master, set it at the highest setting, do a pass, then medium, do a pass, then the setting you want.... Also check your pulleys, and belts,and last but not least, blade timing.

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks Uncle…
      It was on the highest setting and like an idiot I didn’t think to cut down the passes like a snowblower. None use on that. Honestly didn’t even cross my mind when editing. The only thing that crossed my mind when editing was I should have never used to side discharge chute. I should have kept it Wide open. After this hard mow for sure…I want to pull covers and check timing. Taryl showed me how to time the blades a few years ago. Memory serves me correct one at 12-6 and the other 3-9.

    • @tomtalker2000
      @tomtalker2000 Před 2 lety +1

      @@pattayperformance That was one of the biggest contributing factors too the machine bogging down that extra side chute piece. Which was building up and bogging down the machine. It couldn't breath freely you always go through tall wet grass like this so the engine and more importantly blades can run and breath as freely as possible. Then go over it via bagging or mulching. Blades also make a HUGE difference i love the gator blades on mine they cut through like butter. Went through 2ft of wet heavy grass with the newer 10cc engine which is 14hp and 10 foot pounds of torque like butter. The older model had the 8cc engine which bogged down quite a bit.

  • @norge696
    @norge696 Před 2 lety +1

    I actually mowed tall wet grass (side discharged) with the flap propped up with a stick and it did very well. Except I was using a 22in mower. 190cc briggs quantum

  • @tomtalker2000
    @tomtalker2000 Před 2 lety +2

    Yeah i wonder if this guy was mulching or actually side-discharging. Because if this is the newer model it should have the stronger 223cc engine. Which translate too 14hp folks along with it's 10 foot pounds of torque. And in side-discharge mode their is a video here on CZcams of a guy going through 3ft of grass with this machine without ANY issues. However, heavy wet tall grass like this you side-discharge first and THEN go over it in mulch or bag mode. That goes for ANY walk behind machine. Blades also make the difference as others have mentioned on here. Properly set-up this machine would have gone through that or should have like butter.

    The reason the Toro wasn’t doing so well with that tall grass is because the blades you were using are blades that are good for mulching instead of side discharging. A high lift blade is best for side discharging.

    Excellent video on how not to cut an overgrown lawn. The issue are tall wet grass(as stated) but also the depth of the deck. Timemaster is a homeowner mower so the deck is shallow when compared to commercial decks. Its not a engine issue. Briggs 223cc is a solid engine for the Timemaster. There is not a homeowner mower that would not have the same or worse issues.

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  Před 2 lety +2

      Unfortunately it’s not the 223cc Motor it’s the OG 190cc Motor. Even the Turfmaster would struggle In this situation. The Kawi also lacks power in this situation as well. Research leads me to the 9HP Kawi off an Older Deere or Honda GCV190 with a 200 Jet.
      Timemaster spoiled me as I’m a sucker for Key Start. As soon as the New Kohler rolls out with key start I will make the jump. Nothing beats the cut quality of a Time Master as far as Push Mowing goes with 30” cut or Below! I’m also running a baffle kit as well.
      As shown many times before, when the Timemaster is in good running order as well as the grass not being wet or well overgrown it’s a phenomenal cut.
      I run KTF31 and cut at 3.75-4” height.

      I don't understand your statement so keep that in mind with my response.
      The longer the clippings stay inside the mower the finer they get chopped up as well as run the risk of bogging down the engine. Side Discharge Chute attached gives the grass an exit point and less chance of bogging down the engine. If you watch other videos of Landscapers who do overgrown properties they are all side discharging and some of them will prop up back grass flap on push mows for more power.
